Jul 19, 2013I copied a pdf filed into the same folder as the ai file and then when I tried to open the ai file it opened as the pdf.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: MicroStation Cells Replaced By PAT File
Jun 18, 2012I'm in the process of assisting a client implement Civil 3D into their work environment. Up to this point they have been MicroStation users. They have now seen the power of Civil 3D and are making the move. However, they're not yet Civil 3D experts and they still have some projects in MicroStation that need to be completed. Â
So in a project in MicroStation they are trying to place a pattern (similar to a hatch pattern in ACAD) into an area but the software has stopped looking for the MicroStation cell file (I believe that's what it's called) and has now started looking for the AutoCAD acad.pat file. This has only started happening on any computer that has Civil 3D installed.Â
Where that search path is located within MicroStation so I can reset it?  Until this is resolved they've halted further installs of Civil 3D.Â

May 15, 2006I've been using photoshop (CS2) on windows XP for quite a while just started getting a strange problem with one font - Adobe Caslon Pro.
When the type is used I get a strange dingbat type font appearing in it's place. (The preview in the selection drop down is as it should be. This only happens in photoshop. All is ok in Illustrator & InDesign, also ok in Word.
I did put some new fonts into the main window font folder a few weeks back from the CS2 CD (goodies). As an attempt at a solution I deleted A.Caslon.Pro font from the windows font folder after first putting it in windows/user/applications/adobe/font folder.
Photoshop :: Grayscale Replaced With Purple?

ive had it installed for about 6 months with no problems. came into work a couple of days ago, and my grayscale has been replaced with a purplescale?
if i create a new document, wether its rgb, cmyk, or grayscale, the shades that should be gray are now purple. no color profiles or color settings have been changed, and i checked with a co workers settings and they are the same, anyone know what is going on with this?
also i know its not my system, cause i just opened illustrator, and that grayscale is fine.

I have to take old black and white photos and replace the old faces with those of living people. The photos were scanned out of various photo books, and some of them were quite old. I used de-screening when I scanned them in, but there is still a 'texture' to the original photo and it doesn't look right when I put a nice, clear face off a digital camera shot to replace the original face.
I can buy a DVD tutorial from PixelPops to show me how this is done, but is there a simple way to do this so I don't have to spend the money? Yes, I can do a google search, but I don't even know what term to use for this particular process. I thought it might involve the healing or cloning tools,
AutoDesk Smoke :: Backspace Key Is Replaced By Delete Key?
Aug 12, 2012I run Smoke 2013 PRT-2 on iMac (Mid 2011), Smoke replace a Backspace key with a Delete key when Smoke is launching. So, I used Japanese Interface on OS X then. I changed language settings into English in System Preferences. After reboot, the UI of OS X has become in English, but the Backspace key is still replaced by the Delete key.
And I check the Keystroke field on Smoke Hotkey Editor, I press the Backspace key that is displayed as a . When the Delete key is . It's a right indication, isn't it?
This problem occurs when input texts in all situation on Smoke 2013. When I switch to other OS X application (ex. TextEdit.app), the Backspace key is just working.
Of course, I use a English (USA) keyboard.

To my horror I found that LR had backed up these new 6 photos into a PREVIOUS catalogue - with the previous catalogue's name as well. I now have 6 new photos which have replaced the 300 or so that were in the previous catalogue. They have all disappeared. How on earth did this happen?Â

Mar 18, 2014I use certain ttf font for creating documents in office products as well as in Adobe Products like InDesign. Since there is a newer version of that font available, I uninstalled the older version in Windows -> Control Panel -> Fonts folder an installed the newer version of that font.

Now all office applications as well as some Adobe applications (PS, Illustrator) show the new font from the fonts menu. But InDesign refuses to deal with that font. InDesign still shows the old version. Therefore I checked the fonts folder of InDesign. But this one is empty. How can I convince InDesign to accept the new font?

I used the Edge Commons example (URL...) and it works well.But i have an issue regarding the text codage :I have "spaces" in the text of my layers in the SVG file, but the "spaces" are replaced with "underscore" in the animation.I guess it is a codage problem. When creating a new iPart with iMates and publish this to Content Center everything is working well. Our server and workstations are up-to-date, so I think this is a "bug". Maybe Autodesk fixes in the next update.

Nov 11, 2013it's my job to create drawings for patent applications, and These drawings usually consist of multiple pages with one or more drawings on each page. Each of these drawings has to be given it's own unique identifier (for example Fig. 1, Fig.2 etc).
In the process of designing a complete patent application it is often necessary to change the order of figures around and/or add new ones, remove old ones and so on. Now we get to the macro part.
What I need is a macro that identifies an artistic text placeholder (let's say <figures>) and replaces it with a text that says "Fig. x", x being counted upwards starting from 1. In essence I need the macro to count how many times it has already replaced <figures>, and insert the correct number. After the macro has done it's work I want every placeholder replaced with "Fig.1" or "Fig. 2".

Aug 30, 2012I just purchased CS6. I've got a document that I've been working on for several days. It has several layers of text. When I try to edit the text in a layer (layer is selected), the moment I place the curser and click, it changes all the text in the text box to a line of text that was previously in the area. It's almost as if the file doesn't see my current layer of text and sees a previous layer. I have several other layers of text that are doing the same thing, but not all of them are acting weird.

When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?

Feb 3, 2014So, I'm trying to create a repeat pattern of a Balloon illustration I've done in Adobe Illustrator. I've got the singular file (balloon.ai), which weighs in at around 700MB.

Now I'm trying to create the repeat of this pattern on a separate Artboard which will repeat these balloons, 30 balloons per repeat square to be precise.

What would be the best way to import these separate balloons into the repeat square once (as they're the same file) without affecting the weight of the file and performance of Illustrator?

So, in essence, is there a way to import that balloon.ai file and only have it use up 700MB on the page rather than 30x700MB by the time I've placed 30 balloons?

I can't rasterize the files as the printer needs the raw file.
Illustrator :: OS X 10.8 Saving Opened / Edited CS5.5 And CS6 File Rewrites File Permissions
Dec 5, 2012Open an .AI file saved on a netapp or windows shared directory with full permissions (prior to saving I noted that all security groups are intact in file properties as we have 2 for read and write access)Make any changesTry to save and get the prompt: Can’t save preview, but all other information was saved successfully. The file couldn’t be found. ID = -43 (file is now corrupted and looking in security group file properties the 2 security groups designated for read and write access for the directory is now gone and shows an unknown security group????)
Save as works without a problem. Try to press save again and get This file has been modified outside Illustrator. Do you want to continue?Continue and prompted This file cannot be foundObviously the file preview icon goes from a thumbnail of the file to a generic iconWhen I try to open the file I get: Can’t open the illustration. The file is locked or in use.It led me to believe the issue was either OS X or CS5.5. I was able to open the file fine on Windows Illustrator CS5.5 make a slight change and resaved (which fixed the file and opens again in OS X and read/write security groups show up again?)Optionally, I was also able to fix the file to where I could open it in OS X by simply giving myself Read/Write access to the file from Get InfoÂ
Notes:No issues with the same file in 10.7.x.
I've tested on all available Mac Pro / MacBook Pro machines and issue doesn't seem to happen on MacBook Pro retina?Photoshop and InDesign not affected
