I have a jpg file that I must use as a background in a Dreamweaver project. There is some text embedded in it that I can't edit. I have tried using Illustrator and Photoshop but I lack experience so I'm probably missing something.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI hired a person to design a business card for me and he sent me the original .ai file for if I ever wanted to make changes or to even submit to printers for printing. I have had the design laying around for a few weeks and finally got some legal stuff done and need to change my title as well as add our web address to the business card, however as much as I try I cannot seem to edit the text. who would even be willing to fix the two small things for me if I sent them the original file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using an AI template to produce a lot of art as SVGs. The source Illustrator file has a bottom art layer, and several layers above that (6) which have a small PNG image that is basically a simple gray button. The same PNG is shown as embedded 6 times and then saved out as an SVG with the options of Profile: SVG 1.1; Type: Convert to outline; Image Location: Embed; CSS Properties: Presentation Attributes; Decimal Places: 3; Encoding: Unicode (UTF-8) and Include XMP is checked.
Some of these resulting files have since stopped working, and upon opening, display the error "Could not find link "05AE065BE.png".
The file is not linked, and the requested file name is generated randomly. The file shows no gray button PNGs, just the empty sublayer that they are on.
I've gone round and round on how this is happening, and have only found information on file character limits and even file path character limits, and server character limits. The file name of the embedded PNG is 27 characters, and the crazy file path and file name totals 137 characters.
Why would an embedded file be causing a linking error and random renaming of the embedded file? And also, why is it only happening on some of the files and not all of them? They are built identically within minutes and batch processed!
I am having a very strange problem in illustrator and I can't work out what is wrong.
Before in a previous version when I embedded a barcode into an .ai file the barcode was fine but now in my new CS6 the stroke sizes go "mad" and resize?
Is there some sort of setting I am not selecting? I need to embed ALL images / barcodes into the packaging design as I need to send it to china for printing. (and create outlines - but can't do this until the barcode has first been embedded)
I'm using Illustrator to crop and arrange a number of raster images. However, I'm starting to have file management problems, because the Illustrator files quickly balloon in size.
Example: I got public domain jpg image of a deer off the Wikimedia Commons. This jpg image is 0.35MB. I opened up a new Illustrator document, placed and embedded the image, and saved the document (with the 'pdf compatible box' unchecked). The resulting Illustrator file is 7.7MB in size, over 20 times the size of the embedded jpg image.
I've looked around these forum, but other than the 'pdf compatible box', I couldn't find any good solutions. Is there some other option or preference that I could tweak? I need to use embedded images rather than links, but the files are getting out of control (>100MB).
The screen capture at the end of this post shows the situation. In the top folder in the screencapture, the image file is highlighted, so you can see the filesize. In the lower folder in the screencapture, the Illustrator file is highlighted, so you can see it's filesize. Then you can see the open Illustrator document on the right. I'm using Illustrator CS6 64-bit, v16.0.3 on Windows 8-64.
I have created a piece of artwork in illustrator which is to be printed 4x3m for a wall mural. Therefore the file I am working with must either be a vecor or a large enough raster to be printed at such as size. I have set it up at 1 to 10 so its currently A3ish size. Each component of the collage is a separate ai file and contains many points as they are all live traces. It was no problem linking in all these initially but I now need to embed them so as I can give the printers a complete file. I have succeeded embedding every image apart from one last complex one which is crashing the whole thing. Are there any settings I may be able to change to reduce the file size or simplify the graphic (whilst remaining vectors.) Below is the file with the linked images and also the outline of the embedded version so far. The problem I am having is basically because of the final output size required.
The only thing I can think of doing is opening each separate component and saving as a raster then relinking these - but will this be even more problematic for illustrator that thousands of vector points? I can do it in photoshop if needs be but as the final image is to be printed 4x3m will this be too large to handle? The ai file with all images linked was 25MB but now 500MB with the sky still to embed.
Is there is a way to extract embedded VBA project using lisp or vba?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some embedded images in Frame Maker that I need to edit in Photoshop. I copy the image from FM and paste it as a new image into Photoshop. Most of the time its OK, but sometimes it comes up like this, or worse.
It should look like this.
Pasting the image into any other program (i.e. Word, Visio, Paintbrush) works, but it takes more time to fix it, the size is usually off and needs adjusting, and the output is of lower quality.
In FM, the images that seem to do this are JPEG / Frame Vector or PNG / Frame Vector according to the Facets field.
I am trying to make a Christian calendar and entered text on to my background layer and can not edit this. I have tried to duplicate the background layer so it is not locked but I still can not edit this text.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs anyone using Adobe GoLive or Macromedia Dreamweaver? I'm trying out Adobe's GoLive right now and I haven't looked at DreamWeaver yet. I haven't a clue how to evaluate and decide which software I'd buy and pay for. It would help me a great deal to hear some opinions or thoughts.
I like how GoLive lets me use Photoshop files. Using QuickTime for animation works great. That means I could stop fiddling with some of the rinky dink smil stuff from real. Sometimes GoLive seems to have its own opinion what's what i.e. recognizing my files. I keep forgetting that the thing really likes everything being dragged into it. But that might be windows being ms-centric.
I wonder if software like GoLive is really overkill considering I'm using it for personal use. I guess I like the idea having everything in one place (software) for once and maybe cut down on all that typing. Learning the technology is another reason. Are GoLive and DreamWeaver mostly geared/used for industrial strength production?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to itemize every grid in the project and then export it to a text file. Grids are not an option under the schedule/quantities or material takeoffs. I'm not sure where else to start.
I'm using Revit 2012.
Yesterday while I was editing a project in After Effects I used the command-E within AE to open the selected filein my AE project in Illustrator. Everything was fine, I was able to move things across all exisint layers without changing the file layer organization structure. When I went to save the file, everything seemed to go fine and the asterisk went away indicating it saved the file. When I went back into After Effects, AE told instantly gave me an error: "After Effects error: File exists but couldn't be open for reading: "/Volumes/media/CRISP/Motion/_AIs/dining room.ai"/ (3 :: 0)". But when I go into that exact volume destination, the file is missing and I can't find it anywhere. The volume is a server on the network I use here at my job. The server has never had issues with deleted files or not being able to save files onto it. It is always on and connected.
Despite AE telling me it exists still but it can't open it, I can't find the illustrator file anywhere on my Mac or media server. I've done advanced searches with hidden files being visible and I've even looked in a couple hidden folders ".ExampleHiddenFolder" and I still can't find the file with a matching name or extension. I've even tried use the command-option-shift-open within Illustrator to see if I could open any visible file. I just can't find it anywhere and I don't know why Illustrator would just go and delete my file. Yesterday the Recent Files within Illustror would indicate that I had recently opened a dining room.ai file but when I would click on it to open it to try and recover it, AI said it couldn't locate the file. Now today the file history doesn't even show up in my recent files anymore (it is still the last file I opened in AI).

I am now trying to update the business card file I made so I can send it off to a printer once again, however when I open the file now it acts as if the whole image is a single object. I have tried everything I can think of and I really need to be able to edit this file.
I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?
Is it possible to assign a project number to a project file and have it fill in the project Iproerties field?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an EPS image from Shutterstock assuming that I'd be able to replace the placeholder Latin text with my own words via Illustrator. Since then, I've learned from both StackExchange and this forum that the text in Shutterstock images is actually an uneditable "outline" and there's therefore no easy way to replace the sample text with useable text, nor is there a way to reverse-engineer which fonts/sizes were used in the original. This obviously makes Shutterstock images a lot less useful (glad I didn't subscribe!).
Are there any other Shutterstock-like services out there that sell stock EPS images that actually allow you to edit the text?

I opened a file that was saved as .ai but I am unable to edit it. It's as though it was saved as a pdf (or similar uneditable document). It still has 2 unlocked layers. Why did it save that way and how do I fix it?

Also i cant select a part of the image with direct selection tool. the image is selected all together with an square and an "x" in the midle.
