[URL] .... Shutterstock advertises their layouts to be "fully editable." Is there a way I can edit this text without having to delete it and create my own? Where I could find a tutorial on adding more text that is similar to this face? I need more information added than two lines.
View 2 RepliesI hired a person to design a business card for me and he sent me the original .ai file for if I ever wanted to make changes or to even submit to printers for printing. I have had the design laying around for a few weeks and finally got some legal stuff done and need to change my title as well as add our web address to the business card, however as much as I try I cannot seem to edit the text. who would even be willing to fix the two small things for me if I sent them the original file?

I am now trying to update the business card file I made so I can send it off to a printer once again, however when I open the file now it acts as if the whole image is a single object. I have tried everything I can think of and I really need to be able to edit this file.
I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an EPS image from Shutterstock assuming that I'd be able to replace the placeholder Latin text with my own words via Illustrator. Since then, I've learned from both StackExchange and this forum that the text in Shutterstock images is actually an uneditable "outline" and there's therefore no easy way to replace the sample text with useable text, nor is there a way to reverse-engineer which fonts/sizes were used in the original. This obviously makes Shutterstock images a lot less useful (glad I didn't subscribe!).
Are there any other Shutterstock-like services out there that sell stock EPS images that actually allow you to edit the text?

I opened a file that was saved as .ai but I am unable to edit it. It's as though it was saved as a pdf (or similar uneditable document). It still has 2 unlocked layers. Why did it save that way and how do I fix it?

Also i cant select a part of the image with direct selection tool. the image is selected all together with an square and an "x" in the midle.

I need to edit a GIF image file. I have it loaded and converted to RGB. I cannot find anything on any menu about edit a GIF file. It is basically a horizontal rectangle with text on the left and a color on the right, and I just need to replace the text and change the font, without disturbing anything else. It needs to "fit" back into a webpage afterwards. As far as I can see, there is only one layer, if that makes any difference.
I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 in Windows 7. I'm trying to type-set a file and some of the lines of text aren't regularly editable. When selecting a letter it's chopped up in to a bunch of smaller images, thus rendering it impossible to change the font. The customer wants the title on their business card to be un-bolded and I am unable to edit the title. How can I release the type back to an editable form?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I received a DVD with an eps file on it from a graphics company. I was informed that I could open it in Illustrator and start editing the individual graphics within the file. But when I open it, it is just one image and won't let me edit it.
There are no locks on the image layers.
The graphics company told me that it was originally created in Indesign and then saved as an eps, so I don't really know what to do now.
It won't open and let me edit in any of the Adobe programs. I need these graphics to edit!

The problem here, is when I try to save my AI file back to EPS10 (required), the texts on a path doesn't belong on a path anymore. But when I select a text file, it says it is an unsupported format. I'm assuming it has something to do with the extra options that come with importing a text document, specific for .txt and .doc for example.
For what it's worth I was working on an alternate method by read() ing in the contents of the .txt file and setting them equal to the contents of a textFrame, however it imported the text without carriage returns/newlines and I haven't been able to result that issue.
