Illustrator :: How To Get Mirror Image Of 3D Extrude And Bevel Image
Jun 29, 2012
I created a ribbon using the extrude and bevel effect and then mapping it with a custom symbol. I copied the image and then tried to get a matching image on the flipside to mirror it but cannot seem to figure it out. Is there a way to somehow flip the orientation of the image? I tried using transform and then reflect and it does not do anything. I tried to do it manually in mapping and flipping the box upside down and in reverse but it just doesn't seem result in the a reflective image. Attached are the two images I am trying to get to reflect each other.
I don't have much experience in Illustrator, and I'm experiencing an issue with the 3D Extrude & Bevel effect. Namely, there are "artifacts" where the anchor points lie on the paths. Â Here's a sample: Â You may need to zoom in on this image to see them, but there are thin white lines that bisect the extrusion where the anchor points lie. There are also abrupt changes in the appearance of the extrusion at these same points. These anomalies don't appear in Illustrator, and it's only when I convert to an image or PDF that they show up. Â Is there any way to remove these artifacts using this effect? And if not, is there a different (better?) way to achieve the same effect?
I am trying to use the 3D 'Extrude and bevel' tool on a complex shape (a map of the UK)The vector is a compound path, when i apply the effect when its quite small it works, however when i increase the size of the shape the outline fails to render properly and hence is not filled as it should be, there are gaps in the image. Â I have scale stroke and effects turned on.If i try to apply the effect on a version that is already the size i want it i get the same problem.
I am currently designing a logo with the extrude and bevel effect. It is fine at full size, but when I copy and paste it and scale it down for another file--a.e. a business card--the effect is lost. Â Why is this happening? Do you have to apply the effect seperately when the object is rescaled?
I am using Illustrator and trying to recreate the following:
This was originally created in PowerPoint - TearDrop shape. 3d effect: Bevel top type: circle. width 40 height 10. Nothing for the bottom. Surface material Warm Matte and 3-point lighting. Nothing else for depth/conture. I'm not concerned with the shadow. When I try to recreate in Illustrator I end up with something similair to below regardless how much I adjust things.  Notice the overlapping folds. This is a single object comprised of a circle and square to get a tear drop shape however when I try to make it look like the above first object I can never get that nice crisp 45 degree line to the center, it is always curved or overlapping, or does not apply the effect to the center, leaving it very flat centered. Adding light points in and moving does not work and I of course receive the "bevel self-intersection may have occurred". I don't see a bevel option for "circle" and not sure how else to accomplish or steps that I may take.
I am designing a logo using the Extrude and Bevel effect for some depth. When applied--using the Plastic Shading option--it darkens the original colors. Is there a way around this to maintain the hue in the original color.
I am trying to create the handle for a coffee cup in this tutorial here [URL] .... but the settings that I apply in the 3D Extrude & Bevel effect have no effect on the image. What am I doing wrong? I have the line selected.
How do I scale a mapped symbol without going into the extrude/bevel palette? I just want to take the 3d art and scale it up. I don't want it to just scale the object, I want it to scale the mapped symbol in the object as well.
When I extrude/bevel a perfect circle (Illustrator CS6 Mac), there is a defect visible on the edge of the circle. Please see 4 images attached. Is this normal, and is there a fix or workaround?
I design flags for people and have worked with Illustrator for just over a year. Most logo's I've worked are 2D and I've never had any issues that I could overcome ( I learn as I go along) however I have been given a logo which has the Extrude & Bevel effect on (which I haven't worked with before) (see first image). I have to make this logo much bigger but when i do it stretches and reshapes the logo. (see 2nd image).  The scale stroke & effect box, is checked. I am working in CS6. So how do I resize this logo proportionately?
I'm running Gimp 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 13.04 Linux (64-bit) and I'm trying touse the "Bevel and Emboss" layer effect on an image which I copied fromanother image. Here is what I've done:
1. Loaded image 'A' into Gimp 2. Selected a portion of it 3. Used "/Edit/Copy" to copy the selection 4. Used "/Edit/Paste As/New image" to create a new image from the selection 5. In the new window for the new image, "/FX-Foundry/Layer effects/Bevel and Emboss" 6. When the "Bevel and Emboss" window opens, I accept the defaults and click "Ok"
The filter starts to run and then stops with an error message. Here is the message I get:
------------ START ------------------
Bevel and Emboss Message
Error while executing script-fu-layer-effects-bevel-and-emboss:
Error: ( : 1) Procedure execution of gimp-selection-layer-alpha failed on invalid input arguments: Item 'Pasted Layer copy' (87) cannot be used because it has not been added to an image
I want to extrude a flat 2d image to 3d image in equal proportions(in all 3 axis) in Action 3d space.Hence I request u to give me a proper solution for this.sir.doc
While using the 3D extrude and bevel tool, specifically the isometric preset from the position drop down menu. I am noticing that when I expand the shape (in this case a perfect cube), the vertical paths are not exactly perfect, and are not truly vertical, but off slightly. Is this something that can be fixed or adjusted in the settings, or is this how the tool works?
Evertime I try to open my 3-D Extrude and Bevel it opens the option screen but when I select anything on the screen it freezes then the program closes.
Which tool to use and how to use it for the effect below:
I am trying to simulate the radius edge along the curve such that it looks like it is a 3D object raised off the surface with drop-shadow (c). I want to retain the curved line (b) and the 90 degree corners (a) The object has a three-colour graduated fill.
CorelDraw X5.Â
EDIT: I am a bit closer using the contour tool but not quite right yet and I can't add a drop-shadow to a contour group and I want to make the 'white' section a bit wider.:
I have PSE 11. Trying to create bevel text on top of image. Does not work for me. I add text, Times NR, black or grey, grey 50% opacity. Switch to effects, choose bevel and nothing happens? Is there a tutorial clip for this?
Is it possible with Photoshop (7.0) to reverse an image, i.e. so if the photo had someone in a T-shirt, the letters in whatever logo would be backwards?
I created a file in .psd, with several text layers to which I applied effects (fx) such as stroke, bevel & emboss, outer glow. When I flatten the image, the outer glow and stroke remain, but the bevel & emboss effect is gone. Type is a single color without the 3 dimensional effect. Â I am also not able to preserve the bevel & emboss look when saving as a jpeg or a flattened .tif or .pdf. A saved .tif or .pdf with layers shows the effect just fine, but if the pdf is opened with Acrobat instead of Photoshop, the effect is not visible. Â This must be a new problem, because I found a file that I created several years ago that is a flattened .tif with the bevel & emboss effect preserved. Â I tried rasterizing the layer, and the type. Tried converting to 16 bit changing mode to CMYK, and multi-channel. Everything that involved merging layers lost the bevel & emboss effect.
For most of our product photos, I create a copy of the image, flip it vertically, fade it out, and then move it down to create a mirror image effect. Simple enough. But this one I'm having a problem. The product has 4 legs, and from this view, the back 2 legs are shorter. When I do my normal steps that I listed, I get similar to what you see below. I know all about drawing a marquee around part of the reflection, hitting Ctrl+T and then holding down Ctrl+Shift to skew just what's in the marquee. I've done this technique a lot, but it does not work for this particular image. What do I have to do to get the reflection of the back legs to line up with the actual back legs in the image?
I wanted to make a mirror image from a jpg but I cannot figure it out with Photoshop 6 or 7. I have the book, "Photoshop 6 for dummies", and I cannot find any references to making a mirror image. I am trying to print the (reversed) image onto a heat transfer for a T-Shirt.
I have an image that I would like to extrude, along with the text. Please see this link. URL....I exported it from Illustrator as a .dwg file into 3DS max, and nothing is showing up.Â
I have Photoshop 11.0.2 on CS4/Mac. I'd like to be able to create a mirror image of a photograph for an unusual effect, but I can't find a way to do it. Is this possible?Â
A few versions back I had what I remember as being an action to mirror and flip an image. I realize this can be done manually or create my own action but it was a great action and produced some really amazing images in no time. Any action or even a plug in that does this?
