I am trying to create a Bar Graph on illustrator with certain designs. For Score A, I click the Score A bars and head to Graphs > Columns to change the bars to 'Repeating' design with my spider-man picture.
As you can see my Score A COMPLETELY disappears. why Illustrator just wont let me change the red bars to my design?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI create the designs on an art board that matches the screen size of whatever device I'm designing for, for instance 320x480px. The problem comes when I want to read the font sizes used in the design in order to apply them in the actual mobile app. Illustrator seems to use a strict 1px = 1pt rule. That means a 12pt font in Illustrator is always 12 pixels. This is however not true on the mobile device, which uses some other ratio. This means I have to "guess" the font sizes, trial-and-error style, which is ridiculous.
I've tried downsizing the art board, to something like 240x360 px, and then the font sizes do better represent those on the mobile device, but then all the graphics does not. So that's a no go.
Is there any way I can define in Illustrator the ratio between pixels and points? It seems Illustrator only supports a default 1 pixel = 1 point setting? (In Photoshop, for instance, this is not a problem as you can set the intended physical size of the document independently from the pixel grid. Any way to do this in Illustrator? Does Illustrator simply assume pixels is a physical unit, like inches and points?
Illustrator can make graphs with lines and bars / columns, for example from the docs: [URL] .....
However, when I create a graph like this, I seem to lose the ability to manually set the value axis using "override calculated values".
To reproduce this problem: Create a graph like the example, with bars and an axis on the left, lines and an axis on the right. Unlike the example, don't fix the numbers so the lines match up neatly - have one side go up to just under 20, one up to just under 250, so there are mismatched markers and numbers of divisions on each side.Try to make the markers and numbers of divisions match up, so the side that goes up to 20 actually goes up to 25 and has the same number of divisions as the other side.Everything I've tried doesn't work:
If I select the whole graph and go to 'Graph Type', I can't set Value Axis options. When I insert new data on an existing graph (for example, just adding a new year of data) and press insert, it just deletes the graph entirely. My only option is to recreate the entire graph which is frustrating because I lose its format and colors.

I'm totally new to Illustrator and want to use the line graph tool to insert a graph that passes through 0,0 and runs to 24,24. I want the x and y axes to meet at the origin. As it isn't working as you can see. I've used 0, 0 and 24, 24 as my data points. Is there any way I can change how this is presented so it's clear that it's at the origin?

I've been trying to create an interactive bar graph. The idea is that if a user clicks on a button, a bar graph will animate up onto the stage. I would like to code it so that if the user clicks on that same button again, the bar graph will animate down off the stage. So far all I've been able to find is that this is possible with mouse over and mouse out; but I'm wondering if it's possible to use clicks instead.

I converted GraphPad file from version 6 to version 5 and then some of file can be copied & pasted to Illustrator Artboard. Most of them cannot be copied properly. It shows only axis title with empty box way far away from Artboard.

Our output and printing specs are such that we always convert type to outlines to be safe for any device in the production pipeline that might be missing a font.
On this page of graphs, all the descriptive type and graphics I have added to the page let me do this.
But when I select the type that belongs to the graph and choose Create Outlines in the Type menu, it does not create outlines.
I also cannot delete that type.
How can I force this type to turn into outlines/paths?
I created a icon that I want to substitute the default square markers for in a line graph. When I apply the change, the icons are way to small. How do I adjust the size?

These are the numbers/percentages that appear at the top of the column once it's been generated so you can see that is was say 50% or 60%.
In every version up to CS 5, I could use the direct select tool to select an element of a graph (e.g., a tick mark, an axis or a data point) and move it to another layer. This was very useful because it allows one to hide certain elements or, more importantly, choose which element appears on top when two elements (e.g., two data points) overlap without having to break the graph.
I can't seem to do this in CS6. Is there a new trick I need to learn here or has this functionality intentionally been deactivated?

Essentially, this is what I'd like to achieve:
1) Style/design a graph in Illustrator
2) Import spreadsheet data into Illustrator graph (a step I'm also haveing problem with - is it possible to import an entire Excel doc or do you have to copy and paste each cell individually)
3) Import Illustrator graph into Indesign
4) If original data in Excel is changed/updated and the document is saved, data will update in Illstrator and therefore in InDesign.
how to change the default square data points in a line graph. When I try to got to Object>Graph>Marker it is greyed out. When I click on a circle symbol and then try to go to Object>Graph>Design, it is greyed out. I am so frustrated trying to do the simplest things in this program. with flatm 2D-appearing column designs, this isn't much problem; graph column designs which are meant to be 3D in appearance, ie with depth/both, simply appear flipped and the bottoms of such columns don't respect the correct vanishing point, such as a 3D solid bar type column. Is there a way to make such dimensional graph bars look correct visually when their data values go negative?
In a new Illustrator file, I select "Object...Graph...Graph Type" and make sure I have pie graph selected. Then I draw the circle I want to be a pie graph, make sure it's selected and choose "Object...Graph...Data" which opens the graph data entry "spreadsheet" but the text box and buttons on the top are greyed out and there are no visible cells. If I move the pointer around inside the window, it does become the "row/column" resize pointer as if there are cells present but disabled.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAdding prefixes and suffixes like the percentage sign, degrees, currency and other units to Illustrator graph tool Axis labels is relatively easy: you go to Object > Graph > Type then Value Axis then fill in the Prefix and Suffix boxes under 'Add labels'.
There doesn't seem to be any way, however, to add such signs and symbols to the labels that show column totals on each column in a bar or column chart.
Adding prefixes and suffixes to the value axis labels - works on the axis, but isn't repeated in the column total labels.Adding characters to the text that defines the labels (the %02 etc that is grouped in the design that is then applied to the columns). Adding anything past the 3rd character seems to simply break the link with the text and the data (e.g. adding a percent symbol like %03% just prints %02% in each column, as does adding it in quotes, after paragraph breaks, etc)Adding the prefix or suffix in a separate point text item doesn't work because you can't predict the length of the column total and because it won't apply any kerning with the adjacent character.I can add the symbols in manually, but it's time consuming, and has to be re-done every time the chart is refreshed.
