I have created a page full of column and line graphs for our newspaper operation.
Our output and printing specs are such that we always convert type to outlines to be safe for any device in the production pipeline that might be missing a font.
On this page of graphs, all the descriptive type and graphics I have added to the page let me do this.
But when I select the type that belongs to the graph and choose Create Outlines in the Type menu, it does not create outlines.
I also cannot delete that type.
How can I force this type to turn into outlines/paths?
I have a file built in AI CS6. The file was supplied to us with live type. It is common practice for us to convert live type to outlines to avoid any unforeseen type re-flow at the rip. This particular file added a character at the end of a line that wasn't there before the conversion. I have attached screen shots. Is there a way to post the native file to this forum?
step 1: I'm writing a word and then i'm using the effect ‘create outlines‘ in the type menu.
step 2: after that I'm using the filter ‘round corners‘But not all corners are round after that. I've problems with the letter ‘S‘. Just 2 corners are round and the other two are unchanged.
I'm using Illustrator CS4. I am unable to Create Outlines for a font after I had used the type on the Path Tool. I had used the ellipse tool to create a closed circular path, then I selected the Type on a Path tool. I selected my text using the arrow tool and ctrl-shift-o (Create outlines) and then I receive the message: "Can't Create type outlines." Not quite sure why this is happening. Did I miss something? The thing is this - my type is in the position and alignment that I want and I don't necessarily want to work with the Type as a Font but as vector shapes.
I am an invitation designer. I use my own post script printer for printing. I get a better print quality when I convert text to outlines, but I was wondering .. is there any difference if I convert text to outlines by using Type --> Create outlines or if I do it from the Overprint and Transparency Flattener Options window in the advanced print settings?
Is it possible to script the menu item Object/Path/Outline Stroke?I need to cycle through all the Path items in the document and convert them to Outlines.
Illustrator can make graphs with lines and bars / columns, for example from the docs: [URL] .....
However, when I create a graph like this, I seem to lose the ability to manually set the value axis using "override calculated values".
To reproduce this problem: Create a graph like the example, with bars and an axis on the left, lines and an axis on the right. Unlike the example, don't fix the numbers so the lines match up neatly - have one side go up to just under 20, one up to just under 250, so there are mismatched markers and numbers of divisions on each side.Try to make the markers and numbers of divisions match up, so the side that goes up to 20 actually goes up to 25 and has the same number of divisions as the other side.Everything I've tried doesn't work:
If I select the whole graph and go to 'Graph Type', I can't set Value Axis options. In earlier versions it's greyed out, in CS6 I can access it but clicking 'Okay' does nothing. If I select the whole graph and chose one graph type, I can set the Value Axis options, but that selected graph type then applies to the whole chart,If I use the Group Selection tool to select one of the series, and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select all series that share an axis and open 'Graph Type' options, changing the Value Axis options still has no effectIf I use the Group Selection tool to select the axis ticks group itself, or the axis line and axis ticks groups themselves, or the axis labels, axis line and axis ticks, or the axis labels, axis line, axis ticks and associated data series, etc, changing the Value Axis options also has no effect
It seems like this feature is broken and it seems like the example in the manual was carefully chosen to use a rare combination of numbers where it would actually look right.
When I insert new data on an existing graph (for example, just adding a new year of data) and press insert, it just deletes the graph entirely. My only option is to recreate the entire graph which is frustrating because I lose its format and colors.
I'm totally new to Illustrator and want to use the line graph tool to insert a graph that passes through 0,0 and runs to 24,24. I want the x and y axes to meet at the origin. As it isn't working as you can see. I've used 0, 0 and 24, 24 as my data points. Is there any way I can change how this is presented so it's clear that it's at the origin?
I'm playing with the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended for a friend. He provided an .obj file of a tool part and it opens just fine as a complex, shaded object.
Question: Is there a way to generate simple outlines of the object and export those outlines as paths to Illustrator?
I'm trying to vectorize my image and Photoshop makes this hard, and im told AI is the better option,. I dont have the program and wasd wondering if you can do it? Ill give you a virtual high five if you dio...
I often need to convert all outlines to objects in a design before I send it out or when I create a flash base for screen printing. I know how to convert and outline to an object, but my question is:
How do i convert ALL outlines to objects at the same time? Is there a function I'm missing or possibly a macro? Also, I don't want to have to select every outline myself. I'm already doing that and ctrl/shift/Q. Also, If I'm forced/limited to doing it myself manually, there's always the chance that I miss one. I cannot believe that this isn't a native function.
When I export a page as Illustrator CS4, I choose the option "Convert outlines to objects" but it doesn't seem to do what I expect. It does fix the issue of missing arrowheads on lines, but it doesn't convert the outlines to fills as I expected -- is that correct? I wish there was an option to convert lines to fills on export.
I have recived an illustrator file which ontains some text and I have to update the labels on the file but it seems the text has been chnged to Outlines Path. how i can convert them to regular editable text type?
Is there a way (plugin?) to add values on top of Illustrator Stacked Bar Graph? In the picture attached the numbers on top of the chart color areas are inserted manually. In powerpoint those can be added automatically.
I've used earlier version of Adove Illustrator without any problem, but once I start trying CS6, I cannot copy a graph that I inserted from GraphPad to Microsoft PowerPoint. I converted GraphPad file from version 6 to version 5 and then some of file can be copied & pasted to Illustrator Artboard. Most of them cannot be copied properly. It shows only axis title with empty box way far away from Artboard.
I am trying to create a Bar Graph on illustrator with certain designs. For Score A, I click the Score A bars and head to Graphs > Columns to change the bars to 'Repeating' design with my spider-man picture.
As you can see my Score A COMPLETELY disappears. why Illustrator just wont let me change the red bars to my design?
How do I "get outlines" in Illustrator CS6. Option was available in version 4, but now is gone. Have tried copying an InDesign-created outline but it will not copy.
I created a icon that I want to substitute the default square markers for in a line graph. When I apply the change, the icons are way to small. How do I adjust the size?
In every version up to CS 5, I could use the direct select tool to select an element of a graph (e.g., a tick mark, an axis or a data point) and move it to another layer. This was very useful because it allows one to hide certain elements or, more importantly, choose which element appears on top when two elements (e.g., two data points) overlap without having to break the graph.
I can't seem to do this in CS6. Is there a new trick I need to learn here or has this functionality intentionally been deactivated?
How to put text inside a line and then bend both of them to fit a line in graph. I've made a line at 22 points and then I've put text inside. Thought it would look cool. How do I make them become one so that I can bend them together? And how do I bend them the easiest way?
I'm laying out a report with many graphs of similar styling, the client is to provide an Excel doc with the figures and I need to redraw them as graphs. Is it possible to design the graph style in Illustrator, import the data from the spreadsheet to the graph and then place the graph(s) into InDesign. Essentially, this is what I'd like to achieve:
1) Style/design a graph in Illustrator 2) Import spreadsheet data into Illustrator graph (a step I'm also haveing problem with - is it possible to import an entire Excel doc or do you have to copy and paste each cell individually) 3) Import Illustrator graph into Indesign 4) If original data in Excel is changed/updated and the document is saved, data will update in Illstrator and therefore in InDesign.
how to change the default square data points in a line graph. When I try to got to Object>Graph>Marker it is greyed out. When I click on a circle symbol and then try to go to Object>Graph>Design, it is greyed out. I am so frustrated trying to do the simplest things in this program. The online tutorials on how to make graphs do not seem to explain the simplest of tasks, only the difficult.
