View 11 RepliesComing from Fireworks / Illustrator, Photoshop's layers slow down the workflow when selecting something on another layer. If I could switch layers (i.e. select the next/previous layer) with a keyboard shortcut, that might help. I've looked through the shortcuts and the best I can find is "move layer", but I don't want to alter the document.

Currently I used to do this with the mouse, tried the Ctrl-Shift but that is switching between of application tabs and not inside the document.
Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to hide a layer? I'm building a drawing by tracing a bitmap on a separate layer. I turn the layer visibility off & on a lot to check my work.
I have so many objects, the little eyeball in the object manager keeps scrolling out of its window .
I find myself typing quite a bit of text that has the ® and ™. Many times the font, when it has that typed, is too big, so I have to use the type panel with the flyout menu to then change the character to superscript. In InDesign there is a keyboard shortcut for this. Is there ANY way to do the same thing in Illustrator?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an extensive drawing that covers many art boards. In InDesign I can jump to a page number using a keyboard shortcut. Is there something similar in Illustrator CC where I can navigate backwards and forwards through the art boards and/or jump directly to an artboard by number?

System preferences will not let you add shortcuts to Illustrator.
Illustrator doesn't seem to let you assign shortcuts to items in the script menu.
How to programmatically find the key assignment for a tool?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need a fast method (Keyboard shortcut) to change stroke color to a specific color. Since I need to set it always to the same color. I'd like to skip the procedure of having to repeatedly pick red from the palette and simply have red chosen automatically using one click only. I tried recording an action, hoping I would later be able to assign it a shortcut but oddly when an action that records the setting of stroke color is played, it sets the FILL color to that choice color and instead of setting the stroke color (with which it was recorded).

View 12 Replies View Relatedso naturally our keyboard layouts are Danish. But there's a fantastic shortcut in Illustrator, that only works with the English layout. Basically - make a square and place a pattern in it. If you rotate the box using 'R' you rotate the entire box and the pattern. But if you hold the 'button next to 1' (tilde in some parts of the world, console in other parts) and then press 'R' it will only rotate the pattern and not the box.
However, that only works with the English layout.. what is the name of that function, so I can set up the shortcut manually or change the keys needed for the shortcut?
Is there a way to remove selected vertices with the keyboard, without deleting them and the section of line they once represented?
All the key combos I've tried just delete the line section and vertices, when I really just want to remove the vertices.
I realise the > tool can do this but that's painfully slow when there's a bunch of them.
Is there a way to disable the keyboard shortcut which opens Adobe Bridge from Illustrator? Often when I'm working quickly I accidentally hit this (option command o) instead of (shift command o) to outline type. It halts everything to open Bridge, which I never use. Is there any way to disable this command?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator CS6 I established a keyboard shortcut of Alt+Shift+Ctrl+= to the command Type-->Change Case-->UPPERCASE (and Alt+Shift+Ctrl+- to Type-->Change Case-->Title Case). In Illustrator CC, these two keyboard shortcuts are not working. They are displaying in the Type menu correctly, and the menu commands themselves work correctly, but the shortcuts do not work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to add a keyboard shortcut or marking menu shortcut for visibility? It would be really convenient to be able to shift-click several objects and toggle the visibility of them. I have a mouse with numerous buttons that are mapped to commonly used IV features, but I cannot find a way to map a visibility toggle.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have keyboard commands set up for exporting my .idw drawings to .pdf format (PD for me.) I would also like to set this up for exporting my drawing to .dxf format. I think this can be done with a macro that can be activated by a keyboard command, but I could be wrong. I don't want to do this with an iLogic.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen you're cropping an image in Fireworks (or any other type of selection box) you can use the keyboard to move the box around, increase or decrease it in size horizontally or vertically all using the keyboard using CTRL + SHIFT + (arrow keys) in 1px increments.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe UI method to pan down the viewport (e.g. Front view) is to use the hand tool and drag. This much we all know. However, I am drawing a shape with the line tool and, because it will be a large shape with many vertices, I am zoomed in and need to continually extend my line out of the viewport. I can't zoom out because I need to see the detail. Is there a keyboard shortcut for this panning? Obviously I can't use the hand tool without letting go of my line.
In Photoshop, the viewport pans with you if you extend your lasso tool (for example) way outside the viewport. Max does not do this..
Is there way to assign keyboard shortcut to do same thing as holding left mouse button over the ViewCube and movng mouse? E.g. hold Ctrl + MMB (middle mouse button) and move mouse.
Reason i dont like Alt + MMB or Ctrl + R (orbit view mode) is because it rotates view around the center of viewport, cube does same when no object selected, when object selected cube rotates view around that object!
Its such a time waste to look at cube then move mouse to it aim exactly at cube ... with keyboard modifier all needed to do it to hold button.
I use this macro to toggle my browser from Model to Vault, and have since IV2009, and I have always used a shortcut key combination to access it. Now that I have installed 2012, the keyboard shortcut doesn't stick. Every time I close Inventor and re-open it, I have to reassign the key combination to this macro. This equals annoying! Maybe I didn't properly implement the macro in VB?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.
I am trying to record an Action where the dialogue box for Flatten/Cancel/Don't Flatten comes up. Flatten is the default selection but I would like a keyboard shortcut that allows me to select "Don't Flatten".

The most weird part is that when i tried to change the short-cuts, it won't work even though i clicked on accept and "ok". Is there a way i can turn this back? It wasn't like this when i first got this back at November.
I want Ctrl+Shift+S to do SAVE AS. I set it as such in the keyboard shortcuts, but when I do that key combo, all I get is this: The mouse pointer changes to this. I can move it around and draw a box (in the background of PS, outside any open images). I want it to go away and do SAVE AS instead.

Does anyone make a laminated cheat sheet of Photoshop CS 3 keyboard shortcuts? I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to do something that I could not find in any of the menus. Finally I found a reference to it in one of my books as a keyboard shortcut.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my primary tablet pen button bound to alt for the eyedropper tool, and often press [ and ] to change the brush size. Sometimes I hit alt and [ or ] together, which causes the active layer to switch up or down. It happens a lot and gets frustrating, especially if I don't notice immediately notice the active layer has changed.
The question is, how do I remove the alt+[ and alt+] bindings? They're not listed under the Edit - Keyboard Shortcut options and I can't find them anywhere else either.
I've tried a number of ways round it but the only one that remotely works is to change the brush size keys themselves.
