Illustrator :: CS5 Color Is Different Than CS6 - Cannot See Light Tints
Feb 25, 2013
CS5 has bad color, and cannot see light tints. The computer used to be a freelance computer, so all the settings were probably messed with. So far I
Deleted /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_US*/Checked both use the same color settings, see screenshots
In Bridge CS5 synchronized settings to North American Gen Purpose 2Overprint prefview is on in both CS5 (left, CS6 (right) background has dark pink pattern.
working in CS6, OS 10.6.8. I'm working on a 3-color screen print CD label, and the colors will be a white background, plus black and a PMS color. I've been recoloring some CMYK artwork to use in the design, and really liked the results of Recolor Artwork (selecting only black and the spot color), until I noticed that when I selected "tints & shades" it converted everything with black in it to process (which I know Adobe says is why you shouldn't select that option).
But my question is, how can I get the same effect (that is, using shades of the spot color "mixed" with black) without having it convert the shades to process? I'm sure it involves overprinting, but I'm hitting a big hole in my knowledge.
If I draw a shape and select the fill color from one of my swatches, this applies the color OK. Then if I want to change the fill color to a tint of the swatch, what I used to do in Illustrator 5.5 was go to the 'Color Guide' tab and choose a tint. This tint was then applied to the shape. If I do the same in Illustrator CC, I can select the tint, but it does not get applied to the shape, the shape remains with its original fill color. I use tints of our company colors a lot, so I need this to work!
using brushes in Illustrator 5.5, I cannot find a way to change the "tint" of an art brush to a solid color. I have dragged the brush from the brush library to an ai document to try to modify it ...no luck. I have expanded the brush to art outlines ...no luck. I have expanded the transparency. All color and transparency panels indicate 100%, however the object is still a transparent tint. I have tried cutting and pasting the expanded object without luck.
I have read the reference manual on this subject, but nowhere does it tell how to remove the tint and make the newly created object a solid color.
Have a light cyan (13% dot max gradient piping the text) emboss letters spot channel .psd placed in AI. In Photoshop the image shows up great, but in Illustrator is notvisible (goes to white).
Color profile is good & generated with hardware device i1Profiler Same color settings in both AI & PS- North Amercian General Purpose in bothAssign profile tried both Working CMYK US WEB v2 & don't color manage
When I click on foreground, even if black is selected, I click around that box, and I inevitable get blues and greens. How can I get an easy variety of greys to choose from to click on to make the forgound color a light grey to taste?PS, I'm almost lost with eyedropper, I remember being able to click that on documents, even outside PS, but it's not working for me at all now in that respect.
I have a picture of a person I'm trying to alter. The person is wearing a very light yellow shirt and I am trying to replace the color with a more striking dark red. Also I'm trying to turn her skin a very pale white color (Like a geisha). I've been fiddling with the color replacement tool, but the best I've been able to get is a milky whitish red matching the light shade of the shirt. No matter what shade of red I use it always replaces the yellow with the same light red.
Is there a way to tell the color replacement tool to not keep the same light shade as the shirt and instead stay closer to the shade I've selected from the swatch?
I need to constantly print PDF to email to client and to print directly from printer for our project leader to review. But whenever I print by "Adobe PDF" the color is lighter than if I just print from our office printer.
I setup plot style by making different % of screening on each color and by adjusting line weight on drawing layer.
I really like the effect in this poster. I see this effect all the time taking one color and making it light and dark in different areas. Like the banner on this site, but can never do it myself.
I have a picture which contains a color gradient from white to light blue. How can I set all white parts transparent so I will have a a color gradient from transparent to light blue?
How can I change with photoshop the color of below pencil from dark green to light green similar to the one in same photo? URL....Usually I use Tonality/saturation with good effect but with this special green I don't find a good solution.
I am very torn about the layers palette. I love that layer via copy will respond to groups as well as individual layers but I hate the color. I find it much more difficult to quickly find what I am looking for with the names and info inverted on a black background.
It is also more difficult to see the separation between layers and tell when one ends with its effects. Overall I feel my productivity regarding the layers palette has slowed down and become more frustrating. Everything else seems to be great. Is there a way I can convert over to a light toned color palette instead of a dark one?
i design and print t-shirts and use photoshop for all my designs. a customer recently asked me to print a photo of her son on a shirt..but she wanted the image to look like it was airbrushed onto the shirt. ive looked around but havent had any luck finding tutorial on the subject.
I am trying to get the light blue bow to look as the other bows (dark blue) When I use the color replacement tool and sample the color from the dark blue bow and try to paint the light blue bow it just wont work..it color it with light gray instead of dark blue that I sampled.
I'm experiencing a strange problem in Elements 10:
When I'm in a new file, if I go file-place and select an image it automatically tints the image into black and white. I recently used this option in the program and it almost seems like the function is stuck!?
I would like to change the color behind the "2D MODEL SPACE" uniform background, too light. Type Config, go to Display tab and then Color, in the Drawing Windows Colors dialog box.
i do not know much about color spaces. But I do know that different forms of media require using different colors (RGB, CMYK, all that stuff).
wrong color space or exporting formats.
What do I need to do to get the final video that I exported to look exactly the same (in terms of color) when it's uploaded on YouTube? Strictly just the color, because I understand quality goes down when uploaded to YouTube.
I am trying to animate a casino-like light board made of tens of light bulbs/leds. I thought the easiest way to do it would be creating a matrix of bulbs arranged by material ID and then design a pattern in multi sub-object materiel so I could somehow scrub through it and achieve animation effect. The material modifier allows to change ID for the whole object only and MaterialByElement shuffle ID`s in a random manner.
I am attempting to build a facsimilie enigma machine, I would like to know how best to create an effect so that when a key is pressed a corresponding letter appears to light up. Btw I am not looking for an animated image, I can take care of the transitions between on and off, I just need to create the two image states.
How do you lock the pivot point of a light to the light itself? I thought just adding a Axis node would move the light and pivot point but the pivot does not move. Is there a way of parenting them together?
How do I use the standard Revit can lights in a wood joist floor with drywall applied to the bottom? If I place in a suspended ceiling, can lights light up just fine. However, if I use them in the floor space of a wood joist floor, the light itself gets covered with the floor. How can I get the light to cut the floor out so I can see the light when it is rendered?
I am working in Illustrator CS6 on a Mac (10.7.5) and on some (but not all) of the objects in my document, the paths (not strokes) are visible as light grey lines. This occurs in objects that are stroked, filled or both. I can make a stroke thicker, but the 'path' is still visible in the center of it. The Appearances panel gives no indication of what's going on.
We have made a logo with a strapline, we have to make a version with the line in a solid box with the type (which is outlined) transparent, we have done that using pathfinder, but when it's printed the type is coming out much lighter than when it's just white type in a box.
Tried setting it to overprint which made no difference. The vectors are all identical.
How do I change the default toolbar background from dark gray to light gray in illustrator CS6? In the older versions, the toolbar backgrounds were light gray. It easier to read on light gray backgrounds. THe same question applies to Photoshop CS6. InDesign CS6 has light gray backgrounds.
