I use GIMP at work since a few days but we have a shared network folder where we work from (just to pc's) but the shared folder is on the other pc and I always need to save the files on the network folder. But GIMP only recognises the folder itself and not the content in it and all the subfolders.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Elements 10 and I'm having a hard time figuring things out but 1 thing in particular. I'm on a PC and use Windows 7.I already import a lot of pic's to Elements or so I thought.
When I'm in "Folder Location" and click on a folder it doesn't display any pictures and says "No files from this folder have been imported into Elements Organizer. To add any files, right click on the folder and select "Import to Organizer"
So I do as I'm told and then i get this error."Nothing was imported. The files or folders selected to import did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in this catalog."
there is a Folder with MXF-Files on our Network that I am accessing trough the gateway. The folder contains 1600 Files. The Browser Display Options are set to Titles. Smoke needs approximately 20 Minutes to show the content of this folder. Every other software on the machine does this within one second. why that is and is there something I can do to speed it up?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was trying to import my photos into the Organizer (PSE10) and noticed that it didn't accept a network drive as a watched folder.
My family stores all photos on a shares NAS drive and I would like to use it with PSE10.
Currently, I can only use PSE10 with the photos I import on my local machine, but I cant organize the rest of the pictures.
Is there a way to trick PSE to add a network drive to the organizer ?
Illustrator doens't show my added network locations. Trying to open files from Bridge (or from InDesign) into illustrator results into illustrator opening, but not the file.
The 32-bit version of illustrator does show the network locations.

I have files that contain only XREFs, some have up to 20. When I try to use etransmit to share these files, the paths are still looking for the network and not the contents of the zip file.They are all Overlays Full path
I swear that it worked before but I cannot replicate it.I cannot share the zipped file with anyone not connected to our network as all references are lost.
Have just installed Windows LR4 trial, told it to Import files from my photo collection in a folder + subfolders on a network attached storage (NAS) unit. Windows Explorer tells me that there are 10,308 files in 408 folders in the main folder, totalling 38.8gb but on scanning the folder prior to import LR4 tells me that there are only 9,612 photos.
My photo collection folder contains only photos and no other file types.
Why is there this discrepancy ? I've searched around to see whether there is some hidden filter that is excluding certain photo files but cannot find anything of that nature.
I cant't save copy as PDF when I point to a nework location, It's working when I save directly on my computer.
I get a message saying : "Failed to publish DWF file."
I exported a .dng file to a folder. I imported this .dng file into PS CC and exported the processed image to the same folder as a .tiff. I then converted this .tiff file to jpeg and saved this to the same folder. All files had the same name apart from the .type change. I could import the .tiff & .dng to Lightroom but it could not see the jpeg file. When I deleted the other 2 it could see it.

Now I have following problem and I can't find a solution for it: In the Navigator I have synchronized my complete folder where I store all of my photos. This folder contains more than 50000 photos already in many subfolders. But now I found some subfolders not showing all their content. I can see in the Navigator e.g. 216 pictures beside the folder name but in the preview I can see only 3 pictures! And I found some more folders which doesn't show their full content.
I tried to sychronize the single folder again but Lightroom says there were no new pictures and also no missing pictures to remove from the folder. If I open the folder by the Windows Explorer then I can see that all the files for the 216 pictures are there! So there must be a problem with the lightroom database!
But now I don't know what to do to get the pictures displayed in the library again.
I don't see an existing folder in my library. I try to import photos into lightroom, but it indicates that they are already imported and they supposedly exist in a particular folder. However, that folder is not showing in my library. Is there a way to correct this? The photo is there but they only way I can see it is to search for it and it will appear.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a LaCie external SSD solely for the purpose of storing my After Effects disk cache. The SSD connects to my MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt.
When I check the info on the SSD, it says it has 254 GB available, so I set the maximum disk cache size in AE to 200 GB, and created a folder on the SSD for the cache. Then I pointed to that folder in AE as the specified disk cache folder.
When I relaunch AE, though, it tells me I don't have enough space in my disk cache folder to accomodate the 200 GB max I set, even though I have 254 GB free on the SSD when I check.
Does this have to do with me creating an empty folder on the SSD to house the cache? Do I have to just use the root folder of the SSD to make use of all the available space?I just found out AE doesn't even let you use the root of a drive as the cache folder, so that can't be the problem..
I have LR 3.6 and have created a catalog of pictures from a ski trip I took last year. All of these pictures and the LR catalog are in one folder on my hard drive. After sorting, deleting and retouching quite a few pictures I now notice that one picture is missing from the library. If I open the folder in Explorer (Win 7) I can see the picture, and Windows Picture & Fax Viewer will open/display this picture so it appears the file itself is fine.
However, I cannot get this picture into the library for some reason. When I choose File>Import Photos this one picture doesn't show up in the list of photos. It's as if Lightroom can't see this picture for some reason.
Oh, and I don't know if it matters, but there is a movie clip with the same filename but a different extension (obviously) that does show up in the library and the import dialogue. The picture filename is DSC_0001.jpg, the movie filename is DSC_0001.mov.
I believe a dwg I am trying to access is affected by the acad.vlx virus as an alert comes up to check autodesk for solution (ID: TS13717811) however the published solution doesn't seem to work for the latest version of AutoCAD LT 2012 as it asks me to access a file in the support folder which doesn't exist on my system.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a catalog with all photos imported from a trip I just got back from. But when I compare the catalog to the actual photos in the folder, there are 104 pics missing from the catalog. If I try to sync the catalog, it says 104 pics need to be imported, but the import process says there are no new photos.
I created a new catalog and tried to import the folder again, but its still missing the same 104 pictures.
I just installed Gimp on a few of our machines at work, the main reason being to allow users to import images from our network scanner and manipulate them etc...
If we scan several pages at once and import them in Gimp, only 1 page is imported. Once this is saved and closed, we then have to go through the whole process of File > Acquire etc. again, for each page scanned. (We use Fuji-Xerox mailbox scanner utility).
With Photoshop, when importing multiple pages from the scanner, all pages are imported to the main program at once.Is there any way to acheive this in Gimp? It's the only real problem we have with it.
I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

I can't find out how to set the start folder for 2.8.In 2.6, I could edit the shortcut properties to change the directory that Gimp starts in.
When I want to load or save images, I'm in the directory I want to be in. I then have the option of pressing 'recently used' if I want.
In 2.8 I can still edit the shortcut properties, but when I go to open a file, I'm already in the 'recently used' directory. Unfortunately, that's not where I usually want to be, and I can't find a way to get the old behaviour back.
I moved the folder where all the brushes and stuff into the overall gimp folder. Originally the folder with the brushes and stuff was in Documents Settings, however now after I moved it. My brushes don't work. How do I make it so that gimp targets the new location of the folder?

Since I do not have 1,000 dollars, and I NEED to be able to do graphic design, I'm putting all my faith into Gimp at this point, hahaha.
I just downloaded the GPS package for Gimp so that I could make photoshop-esque drawings if needed.
Huge problem: I was able to copy all of the folder contents (Brushes, Gradients, Palettes, Patterns) from the GPS package into the Gimp respective folders EXCEPT for Tool-Options. I'd assume that if I can't install the saved settings along with the package it's pretty much useless.
I've navigated every folder I could find within Gimp, and I can't find this damn thing XD.
While I love digital painting, my current task requires me to be capable of designing a shop sign, business cards, and logos. Is Gimp comparable to photoshop in the typography realm? This will be my first official professional job, so it HAS to look good. So far Gimp reminds me of photoshop elements, which was my favorite photoshop due to ease of use.
As a photograher, I have hundredsot thousands of photos in a folder after a shooting. I would like to work with Gimp on all of the photos individually, one after the other.
When I opened the first one in the folder and saved the result I would like to close the first file and go to the second one and work on it. And after the next one and the next one...
How may I go easily -with a key shorcut, for example- go to the NEXT photo within the folder?
There are other programs, like fotoxx or DigiKam able to do this, however, I like better to work with Gimp... if possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI typically use GIMP 2.6. Computer crashed recently so now I've downloaded 2.8. When I download ABR files into the brushes folder, the program won't start. It wigs out and doesn't work. I copied abr files just fine into my GIMP 2.6. Why is this happening?
I even went so far as to find GIMP 2.6 on the web for download. But the same problem. There are strange 'VBR' files now that didn't used to be in my old brush folder but are suddenly there now.
(and 'gimp doesn't accept abr files' my old 2.6 accepted them JUST fine. No fancy converter or anything).
