I am looking for the shortcut that allows me to move between different image windows in Gimp. In "other" applications, CTRL-TAB cycles between open images, but it doesn't work in Gimp.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to cycle between open images?
I've created a New image and selected Open Layer to bring another image in, however the 'other' Open layer image' appears in the center of the newly opened image space. How can I move the Open layered image around?

I am trying to move a text layer from one open file to another. I left-click on a text layer in one file and drag it to the tab of the other file. It seems to be successful, but there is no layer added to the other file.
If I try copy and paste then there will be another layer in the other file that I have to anchor or set as a new layer. If I anchor it then it becomes a part of the default layer. If I set it as a new layer then there is some sort of success, but I can’t edit it with the text tool as I can if I copy it within the same file.
Is it not possible to copy text layers between open files and continue to edit it with the text tool?
I've created a collage using Microsoft Picture It! by cutting images out of photographs and layering them. Can I open this file in Photoshop Elements and be able to move the layered images around separately?

For example, I have a webdesign template in progress in gimp, but then open a new gimp window/file, get a logo, put the text in. Then, I cant get this image out of the gimp, even if I want to put it in the other window onto the template. Also, I cant get the image out of gimp program, and onto the desktop.

I'm using Gimp 2.8.2 on a Windows 7 machine.
I've just installed Gimp 2.8.10 on my fresh Win 8.1 x64 installation and I cannot export or open any type of image 'cos there isn't a single option to choose a file type when exporting and also, Gimp doesn't recognise images on my hdd when I try to open them.
So far I've used Gimp on Win 7 x64 and didn't have any problems. The only driver I currently have installed on my system is the graphics driver.
Basically what I need to do is capture a video shot, and place a play button on top of it. I thought the simplest way would be to just open each image as a separate layer but couldn't find a way to do that.
Eventually I made the screen shot the background image of an html page, and the play button the foreground image. Then I was able to position them just the way I wanted and capture a screen shot, then trim and edit in Gimp.
I'm trying to work with TIFF images got from Image Pro Plus butGIMP 2.8 doesn't open them, I found that's a problem related to Image ProPlus because misses some tags. Also, I tried with ImageMagick using:
convert "prueba 1.tif" "prueba 1.png"
convert "prueba 1.tif" "prueba 2.tif"
The first works fine, just with some warnings, PNG image was createdsuccesfully.
The second doesn't work and in any case if I do:

My gimp opens all images in small thumbnail size (160 120). How can I get rid of this and get the files opened in their original size. I am running ubuntu 11.04 and gimp 2.6.11, and utilizing .NEF (nikon raw)
I have tried to remove $HOME/.gimp-2.6 - that didn't seem to work. I have installed and uninstalled ufraw - that didn't seem to work I have looked at gimp preferences, don't see there anything which would define reading in images into "thumbnail" size.
I am suspecting that after installing ufraw this problem appeared and I seem not be able to get rid of it. Removing $HOME/.ufrawrc didn't useful.
I would like to use the Bash command line to open two images into GIMP, each image on a layer. The code below opens the two images into separate GIMP windows.

Why can't I open my images in iPhoto to import photos to work with? I tried dragging them in, and I tried opening my iPhoto from the Gimp importer window, nothing seems to work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a task that I repeat all the time, where I have about 20 digital photos that are all taken of something the same size, at the same magnification, but not centered identically. I then need similarly centered, identical size and shape cropped images for all of the images. In Photoshop, a friend with the exact same task solves this by opening all of the images, making a rectangular selection of the appropriate size and shape by eye on the first image, and then dragging this rectangular selection from this first image into each other open images and hand-positioning in each image as he drags it in, so that all of the selections for cropping the images are the same shape and size, and can be individually positioned, rapidly. This exact solution is perfect for this task, and although it works great in Photoshop, selections can't be dragged intact from image to image in the same way in gimp 2.6.11 on ubuntu 11.04/gnome 2.32.1/linux 2.6.38-8 generic , so I am looking for a way to accomplish something similar.

as long as I remember shortcut (for mac) was control + ` and in the new Photoshop CS6 is control + tab which is very uncomfortable.
I have modified one of the toolbars (Text toolbar) with many useful for me commands. Many of them are not visible when this toolbar is "docked" to Corel's interface, that's why I want to view it floating.
But because there is "Object Information" from Status Bar, and it is only one line (very wide indeed, and I cannot find a way to make it in two or more lines of text (?)) this toolbar became very wide and I want to hide and show it with a shortcut. It is annoying to right click on interface, to click on "Text" to open when I need it, and to go to "x" to close it all the time.
Now I am looking to find a way to assign a shortcut to open and close it. Is this possible in CorelDRAW X6?
I know you can in InDesign but doesn't look like it in Illustrator.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use 'Save as .jpeg' ALL the time (Photoshop CS6, Mac ML), and it really feels like I should just be able to press one button (a shortcut) and the name/quality dialogs don't appear and it just saves a .jpeg into the folder that my original .PSD/file is in.
So basically:
- Press one button to save my open .PSD/file as a .jpeg
- Automatically save it in the same folder as my .PSD
- Save it as '10' quality in the jpeg settings
- No dialog boxes, as soon as I press the button, it saves it - if there's already a .jpeg of the same name, it creates a '-1','-2' etc.
I've tried using 'Actions', but it seems to save it wherever my original Action folder was - it doesn't change to whatever the current folder the .PSD is in...
Every time I open ACA 2013, my toolbars that I have loaded turn off. Well currently only the layers toolbar remains, my custom toolbar and the properties toolbar turn off every time I open ACA with the icon or the exe file itself. If I open a drawing file the toolbars seem to remain. I also just installed the service pack, no change.

When I use photoshop with my tablet I can use my secondary of my pen button to quickly change size. But in gimp for mac it's a nightmare (secondary button doesn't acces brush settings) to change quickly brush sizes. Specially as a painter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like to use keyboard shortcuts in GIMP to select different tools or to nudge an image, but I frequently click on the layers window, which causes keyboard shortcut commands to then be directed to the layers window. So whenever I click to select a different layer or do anything with layers, afterwards I always have to have to click on the image window again to regain use of my editing keyboard shortcuts.
Because of this, I also often forget that layers window has focus and end up messing up my layers with key-shortcut commands intended for the image window. Is there some change I can make to my workflow or keyboard bindings to avoid this problem?
I have been looking for a way to toggle which brush is selected with a custom key but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Perhaps even better would be to select specific tool presets with custom keys.
I should also note that I am aware of the shortcut action "Select Brush by Index", however it always selects the first brush. Is there a way to change the index number?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Gimp 2.8 and I am using Single-Window Mode. I have about 15 images open at the same time and I am doing repetitive tasks on each of them. I made keyboard shortcuts to do the tasks themselves but I still have to use my mouse to go up and click the next tab to start work on the next image. It would save time if there were a keyboard shortcut. I see that under the Windows menu I can use Alt+1 through Alt+0 to select any of the first 10 images, but I have 15 open.
I wanted to know if there is a keyboard shortcut to just switch to the next tab or the previous tab.
