These are a pair of video tutorials that I did some time ago. They are intended for beginners but you never know what you might learn. The first tutorial is for how to draw a round button and the second is for how to turn it into a web button. They are related so that is why I posted both of them together here.

How I create this in Gimp? It is possible? I've tried doing it but the canvas is in the background, i want both buttons floating (with the grey and black squares showing behind).
I am trying to create an oval image for a button on a webpage. I make the canvas size about 90x40 and then select the ellipse tool and fill the canvas with it. I then bucket fill the circle/oval with a green color. How do I knock the rest of the white corners out of the image? I only want to green oval to be the final jpg.

I've done this in PS but unable to do in Corel.
I use Corel 12 & X3.
I have been using VS for about the past 5 years now, and have used it mainly for basic DVD creating, music videos compiling favourite bits from our holidays - that sort of thing.
A friend of mine has asked me to edit some footage he has taken of him and his work colleagues and turn it into a safety video. No problem so far as I think I can find my way around VS11 well enough to do that. But he has asked for a couple of things that I have never done before and - to be honest - don't know if they are possible with my version. One of these things is to simulate one of the 'actors' eyes bulging out of his head and mouth falling open - as they do in the cartoons when the character sees something surprising.
I figured it would be a case of finding maybe a giff with that effect and overlaying it on the actors face - but not sure if that is the easiest way to go or not.
I want to create bulging eyes in a photo that i have. I would do this in photo paint?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just love GIMP.
But imagine the huge dismay felt when this dedicated user updated GIMP to 2.8.6 and found there was no maximise button any more! Is there anyway to get this button back??
I use it regularly as part of my work-flow, and now I find this once fantastic app pretty much rendered useless to me.
Not having the maximise button also doesn't allow me to see the bottom part of the program's window, so the bottom slider is useless to me.
Not having this pretty much puts my budding photography on-hold, as I resent having to pay an extortionate amount for Gimp's closest 'worthy' competition. That, and photosh*t doesn't play nice with Linux anyway.
Also, I don't have the ready cash to rush out and buy a larger monitor (for a laptop thats screen size works well for all other apps) just to use Gimp.
Using Ubuntu 13.10.

How to complete the "distort circle" part of step 4? In other words, what tool would I use to move the top of the circle downwards?
Step 4: Copy and paste your original circle onto a third new layer. Fill it with an even lighter shade of your selected button color. Distort this circle by moving the top downward while leaving the size and position unchanged. You want the top of the new shape to be around halfway down the original circle.
Also, how can I turn the completed project into an orb/planet/pearl shape?
