CorelDRAW X5 :: Washed Out Grayscale Images When Exporting PDFs Or EPSs

Aug 18, 2011

I have a file that will only be printed using one plate for black ink. The style mimics a newspaper, so there is lots of black text and then a few images.

I converted the images to RGB black and white in PhotoShop and placed them in the Corel file. When I export this as a PDF, of course traces of CMY show up in the PDF, so the printer would like them to be true grayscale.

I tried converting the images to grayscale in PhotoShop and replacing them in the Corel file. There is no visible difference in the files onscreen in either PS or CD. When I export to PDF or EPS, the images become washed out and flat, though the text remains a true black. If I try exporting a grayscale PDF or EPS from the original Corel file with the RGB images, then the images are less washed out, though still not ideal, but the text is no longer a true black. I also tried printing to PDF with PDF Creator, and I have the same problem.

I have a workaround (export as TIFF, select all except the images and bring the text back to true black, then export as PDF), but this seems nuts. What I really don't understand is why the RGB images and grayscale images would export so radically different when they look identical in PhotoShop and in Corel Draw.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Exporting PDF As Grayscale?

Apr 10, 2012

When I prepare artwork for 1 spot color print, there is this issue.

I use black or gray for all the vectors, and convert all bitmaps to 300dpi grayscale. When I export as PDF, I select "Output color as: Grayscale"

However, my printer feedback saying that the PDF files contains CMYK color (C & Y).I've checked the color separation in Print Preview, only K, no CMY.

The printer said they always have this problem with users using CorelDraw to export grayscale PDF.They have to import it into AI and export again to PDF to make it right. Here are the files:[URL]

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Exporting PDFs With Hyperlinks / Bookmarks

Feb 5, 2012

I have a question about exporting pdfs from coral (X3) with hyperlinks / bookmarks. I'm trying to prepare a presentation which has to be in pdf. In that presentation I want To attach a menu with links to chapters and basic 'next page', 'prev
page' buttons. As for now I did not succeed to do this in coral : When I export to pdf with applied internet hyperlinks to pages, my pdf reader (acrobat reader) is trying to find an external file rather than skip to a desired page in that pdf. To make this clear enough i attach a simple version of what i want to achieve.

Illustrator :: Exporting PDF Colors Look Washed Out?

Sep 26, 2013

I recently started working with the new adobe cc programs. I haven't encountered these problems before. I have created everything using CMYK and used no images. I checked the colors in InDesign CC and the colors looked washed out as well. I checked overprint view and the colors don't change in Illustrator.

The left is a screenshot of Illustrator and the right is a screenshot of PDF.

Adobe CC uses synced color profiles so the colors should be the same across all adobe products right?

Photoshop :: Why Do Images Look Washed Out

Aug 27, 2013

Why do my images look washed out after I have worked in Photoshop CS6 and saved them in Finder? I have been a Photoshop user for a while now and have never experienced this problem. It started 2 months ago and no one can seem to tell me why or how to fix it. I am a professional photographer and I have clients waiting on their images but I can't send them looking as horrible as they do. My workflow is: drag and drop an image from iPhoto or Finder to Photoshop. I change things like levels, contrast, image size and use the healing too.

Then I save to Finder so I can upload to dropbox or to website or burn to a DVD. Now when I save the image the thumbnail looks washed out, without color and looks horrible!!! I don't know if my photo files are corrupted or ? If I open the image in Photoshop or Bridge it looks fine. Things were working just fine, but not now.

3ds Max :: Washed Out Images With Daylight System?

Nov 9, 2011

Gamma 2.2, Gamma 1.8. Linear workflow, exposure, input - output etc. how NOT to get washed out images using sun&sky. For example, you use daylight system to render a car with carpaint, the carpaint mat is washed out. No matter what settings are used. Some renders look as if each A&D material stayed nicely saturated and crisp while most don't. I know that the daylight system is supposed to mimic real lighting conditions, but there has to be a way to preserve a nice rich crisp A&D color on renders.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Low Res Images When Exporting To PDF?

Nov 23, 2011

I seem to be having a problem upon exporting the file to a PDF, which is very image heavy.  All of the images in the file are at least 300 DPI if not much, much larger.  However, when I export to PDF the image resolutions are very low.  When I sent it to the printer (who does not accept CorelDraw files so it has to be PDF) they remarked upon the low resolution and you can tell the quality is terrible on the proof.  When I print a copy of the brochure on just our color printer at work (same size as the brochure...it is not larger) the images are completely fine.  What am I doing incorrectly?

Illustrator :: Best Settings For Exporting Grayscale GIF?

Sep 11, 2012

The company I work for uses exclusively grayscale art and often the same art is used for print as well as online. Sometimes the art we export as .gifs (not my choice - company mandated file type) looks fuzzy (Times New Roman is company mandated typeface). I'm just wondering what the best settings for creating a grayscale .gif graphic would be? Currently, we use:

Web snap 0%
Preset: Unnamed
Art optimized

Other settings as seen here:

Illustrator :: Saving / Exporting Multiple Artboards To Separate PDFs In CS5

Jul 7, 2010

In Adobe Illustrator CS5, you now have the capability give a name to each artboard in your illustrator file. I understand that you can easily save each artboard as separate AI files but I would like to save them as separate PDFs instead.

Any script, or know the actual method of doing so? All I can possibly theorize is to save the artboards as separate PDFs and then have Acrobat convert those artboards to PDFs.

CorelDRAW X5 :: One Grey Pixel Border Line Exporting Images

Aug 30, 2010

The problem is almost prehistoric. It dates from the very beginning as far I can tell... whatever image you like to export and whatever its format: png, gif, jpg, there is always one grey pixel border line at the edges. This happens when AA is activated (and deactivate it is not an option if you know what I mean).

I have been reading some threads and no matter what I do: Exporting with or without the background or changing its color... it's always happening.

I Have now installed the trial version of Corel Draw X5 (sp1 included) as I do with every release in order to check out if the problem persist... but no luck for me: nobody seems to be taking care of this issue. I really don't know why Corel is bumping off some many (potentially) buyers like me and many others... why Corel is keeping this issue unresolved year after year, release after release?

Illustrator :: Placing PSDs In AIs Or EPSs

Mar 6, 2013

I have been contracted by a customer to remake a logo of theirs. Like always it should be a vector file so they can scale it and print it resolution independent. The problem is their logo includes some effects (pillow embossed text and graphics) that are much easier done in Photoshop. So I'm left with the option of manually creating highlights and shadows (drawing a line then using gaussien blur)in illustrator to imitate the  photoshop pillow emboss.

I was wondering if I placed a photoshop image in illustrator and saved it as an eps or ai if screen printers and other printers that require a vector file be able to use it or if that wouldn't work at all. I also know that there is a way to save photoshop eps. However when I try to do that with this logo that option is not available. I am using Photoshop and Illustrator cs5 on mac OS 10.6.8

Photoshop :: Better Grayscale Images

Aug 6, 2002

If you have an image that is in RGB or CMYK mode and you want it to be a sharp looking B&W, rather then simply going straight to greyscale, first convert it to Lab Colour. Then while in Lab, go to your Channels window and delete the last two channels. Your image will now be in B&W. Now you can convert it to greyscale.

Now I know all you skeptics who just tried it didnt see a lick of difference. The truth is, rarely are you going to see a dramatic change, rather it is very subtle, but the improved quality is there. The greys are a bit richer then before. It also depends on your image as well.

Premiere Pro :: Corrupted JPEGs - PDFs - TIFFs And / Or Still Images

Dec 10, 2013

Since I switched to Mavericks... premeire Pro CC has been corrupting my still images.  I have imported them a dozen different ways to no avail.  I have clean wiped my computer... ditched the CC suite and redownloaded it.  Nothing works to correct the issue.  I even bought a solid state HD and upgraded my graphics card.

What is happening is half of the pictures information is lost.  Each picture has a slightly different corruption but I can see the image fine if I scrub through my timeline.  Its only when I hit play or pause over the clip that I see the corruption.

Illustrator :: Color Differences Between High And Low Resolution Images In Pdfs

Jan 14, 2013

OK, I'm creating a tradeshow graphic for a client. I designed the whole thing in Illlustrator CS6. But for the proof, I used a low res image of the sky (before we purchased it). Everyone was happy. It was a low-res RGB image imported into Illustrator, then the whole thing was exported as a pdf.

Once they approved it, I purchased the high res image. RGB. Same image... just high res. I popped it into the Illustrator file and exported it in exactly the same way. But now, the image looks much more purple. The low res pdf showed it as much brighter, lighter blue.

My client prefers the lighter blue. When I look at the two images in Photoshop, they look the same (in terms of color). should I be worred? Why is there such a color difference?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Why Multipage PDFs Suddenly Not Working Right

Dec 18, 2012

I was victim to the MS update that wiped out all the fonts. I undid the damage with a restore, it was the only way for my X64 Win 7 system.  Now, suddenly, making multipage PDF's is a nightmare. I have always used the same process and settings on the PDF converter (been doing it since X3 with no issues)  Now, I cannot set the settings to get a normal sized PDF... they usually are 5 megs for a 5 page pdf... now they come in at 35 megs?  It's always ignored the graphic items I have placed off of the page... now, it appears it's including these items and I cannot figure out how to adjust the settings - I've tried everything.

The only work around was to save the file under a new name, delete all extraneous graphics off the page, then make the PDF. It comes out as it should if I do that.  I've never had to do that before... it's always simply used the graphics on each page when it's checked as "pages 1-5".

CorelDRAW X6 :: Grayscale Bitmap - Overprint Over Rectangle

Nov 13, 2012

Here to my issue:

In Corel Draw X6.1 I have a grayscale bitmap that I want to set as overprint over a rectangle with 60% (cmyk) black. This does not work as the white box is visible in both the preview and separations. If I set the rectangle to a spot colour it works, but in separations I get the image on a separate plate (colour) which is not what I need. I tried duotone vs cmyk, duotone vs spot, spot vs spot, etc none works, every time I have the same color for the bitmap and the rectangle it does not work.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Editing Multiple-page PDFs

Jul 3, 2012

If I open a 4-page PDF in CorelDraw, I can edit anything in it. But if I save my changes, it saves as a 4-page cdr file. But I want to save the changes to the PDF. Is the only way to save the changes to the pdf file to re-publish the whole 4 pages to PDF again and have it replace the old one when asked? Wouldn't this further compress any jpgs?

Re-publishing the whole thing and changing the settings to no compression (and remembering to reset them back again later!) seems very inefficient......The question, of course applies to single page pdf's as well, but I'm thinking of deleting or adding a page or changing page order.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Print Preview Is Showing 100% Grayscale As CMYK

Aug 13, 2012

I've been searching for this for over a week & finally thought I'd better go to the experts!

I have a 2 page document that has CMYK on one side and 100% Gayscale (with 2 Grayscaled bitmaps) on the other side. My problem is that when I go to print preview it shows the Grayscale as CMYK Separations. My printer is counting it as color instead of grayscale so we are being charged much more than the grayscale would be. I haven't changed anything in my color profile and actually deleted my ColorSettings.xml and rebooted Corel Draw to reset the color profile default. Still no change.

What I am used to (& what I need) is for the print preview to show my page 1 as CMYK separations and my page 2 as black like it used to. I do a lot of ads and need to be able to determine if there is any color in my document when there shouldn't be.

Problem number 2 is that around my grayscaled bitmaps when my document is printed there are thin black lines showing up where the edge of the photo is. None of which shows up in print preview.

I am using Corel Draw X5, Windows 7 - 64 Bit
