CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 :: Importing DWG / DXF Files
May 24, 2013
I downloaded the Corel Designer Suite X6 trial version yesterday. The downloading and the installation course ran problem free. The installation was finished successfully The programs were installed on Windows 7- 64 bit platform. After the installation I started to work with the Designer X6 and it was running correctly. I tried to import a 3D dwg. file into a new blank drawing and Corel started up XVL Studio program.
I tried to import one of my existing dwg. 2013 file in the XVL but during the process an error occurred. I tried again with different versions dwg and dxf files but XVL just couldn't import the files and I always was given the same messages. "Unable to import ... file". I'd like to insert my existing 3D drawing as vector graphic in Corel in order to editing technical illustration.
I occasionally have customers bring in .ai file for me to open in x4. I am unable to do so. I have read about opening in Adobe reader and exporting as PDF. I have no other software to open this. I have tried importing selecting files of type .ai .
I'm having 2 seperate import problems in Coreldraw X5 in Windows 7. The first one, and the one I need to fix immediatly is, every time I try to import a dfx file, the program crashes. The other which is less important right now is, a lot of times when I try to import PDF's I get an error message that says the file is corrupt.
I'm having size problems after importing and changing files. Look at this print screen, how this 2.73 mb Photo sizes up to more than 15 Mb without me doing anything?
I used to work with X3 but after updating to X5, this problem turned up.
I'm having trouble importing RAW (.CR2) files taken with my Canon T1i into PhotoPaint X4. I am able to do it successfully with my NikonD90, but when I import from the Canon, the image is all purple and black. I just downloaded and installed the latest Canon RAW codec.
When I import a pdf file the program tries to interpret the special characters as some control function. the script over write for a few characters after a dash.Do I need to have the originator save in a different format or do I have to select a special font to convert it to?
Last week I opened some .eps files into coreldraw 12 without any hitch. But two days later I am unable to open or import any of the eps files. I am unable to find out what is the problem. The files I opened and worked on earlier are now opening as static bmp files or they are just opening as a grey square with adobe illustrator written on it. I tried selected both (eps) and (ps, prn, eps ) from the file type while importing. Also I kept the sort type at default. But still it keeps giving me the invalid file type error.
I have some old .ppf files which are teaching Slides like a Powerpoint type thing, each file I have has 15-20 pages in and they seem to open in Corel Draw no problem and I have been able to Ungroup also no Problem. But not sure how to put each slide on a separate page (automatically if Possible if not Manually)
Then I want to re-save as a more modern File that I can open or import to Powerpoint ..
I would Imagine that does not matter that they are a .ppf files as would be the same importing any multipage doc .
I have recently started working with CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6. I am trying to figure out if there is any way to customize the Workspace, change the color of the entire background like you can do in autodesk autocad? Are there any plug ins I can download for different menu bars or completely change the layout of everything?
Although it may sound strange for 2D projects and rapid technical presentation drawings I have for many years used CorelDraw. I like the ease of use and usability. The problem is the speed and response program for complex drawings. That does not compare to AutoCAD or similar (Archicad, Allplan, etc.). Closest to my idea of approaching is Vectorworks. The price is also important. I welcome the mentioned speed, simplicity, 100% import-export DWG, opportunities to work with bitmaps.
I am getting an error "Unrecoverable Error" when I try to import a .dxf from Autodesk Inventor. I have tried saving as different versions of .dxf with the same results. I am using Version 16.2.0.998 of Corel Draw X6
Corel Draw X6 - The document converts automatically all objects (including text) from c0 m0 y0 k100 to c72 m58 y53 k79. No matter how many times I set black back to 100 and the rest to 0 when i open the document all black colors are again in the cmyk mix.
If you try to convert back to k100 using the find and replace command it says the document can't find that color.
I have downloaded evaluation versions of Technical Suite X5 as well as X6 from Corel's website and face the following problem in both versions (both are 32 bit).
resolving this issue with the callouts:
While drawing callouts, the shape menu is not visible. I have reset the workspace several time and played with all possible options before writing on this forum. Actually, the menu did appear once but subsequently disappeared. While the menu was visible it was great to have text boxes at the end of the callout that automatically adopted to the size of the text. How to I activate the callout shapes option? I have included a screenshot of the menu from the pdf manual for your reference.
When I export to a cgm file the callout halo shows up with an outline. This happens in a program called IADS. If I drop the cgm into word the callouts and connector lines do not show up at all. Is there a reason it does that? Also some text will show up doubled or tripled sometimes when converted. If I delete that text re enter it and convert its fine. since not to many company's use cgm format anymore.
our company is stuck with CD 12 because of budget cuts. which format is the best to use when converting MS Powerpoint files to Corel CD 12. The main concern is to maintain the edibility of the line art without much distortion for later use. I have tried EMF with some success but not really happy with it. Maybe EPS?
I converted a DXF file to a Corel Designer file. This DXF file also has some dimensions which turned into paragraph text. This paragraph text is turned by 90 degrees. The font size is rather small, so I increased it by some points. As the paragraph text frames were now too small, I tried to increase their size. However, the text frames always jump back to their original size.
I experimented a little bit and noticed that this is only, if the text is turned by 90 or 270 degrees. If the text frame is not turned or turned by 180 degrees, you can change the size of the text frame. Additionally this problem arises only, if the option "Expand and shrink paragraph text frames to fit text" is activated (in Tools | Options | Workspace | Text). Sometimes some text frames were adapted automatically, when I changed this option. However, I do not know when which text frame was changed.
I deal with creating overhead property plats and landscape plans in Designer X4. The problem I have is there aren't any good patterns to use for the architecture and landscape industry. I have dealt with PhotoShop in the past and how you could import .pat files that would tile nicely. It would be nice to be able to fill an area with a stone pattern. I found some AutoCAD files but the filter type was not supported. If nothing else, I need to know what kind of vector pattern files are supported.
I am currently working with gnuplot and some graphical output I want to postprocess in corel. I get a correct .eps file however when I want to import those files I get some font problem. For example: my degree symbol ° gets somewhat confused with another letter é. Same goes for some symbols like the greek theta. In gnuplot I use that /Symbol t for theta and its also correct in the output. However if it goes to corel it gets confused with these symbols and imports the curves wrong.
I am new to Corel Draw and am slowly teaching myself. I created a drawing in Corel Draw and then exported it to DXF. I then opened them in a CAD application to actually cut the image out in a water jet. The size of the drawing was not modified, only the corners were fillet (because I could not figure it out in Corel Draw at that time). When I imported it back into COrel Draw to fill it with my image, the size of the drawing was about a 1/2 " bigger (width and height) than it was when I exported it. This is the only place where the size is different.
Just installed coreldraw 12 on new pc. but when i import any jpg picture coreldraw shuts down. I can open an old file and work on it ok but still shuts down when I import or paste any jpg.
I am facing problems with the use of Photo-Paint within the CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 on Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 machines. The application crashes when the students try to import a picture twice. The error I am getting is 0xc0000005. I already searched on Google and on this forum, and came across a lot of people with the same problem, and that it's being caused by Avast. Thing is, we do NOT use Avast, we are using NOD32 as anti virus.
I'm trying to import a powerpoint 2007 file in X4, but coreldraw says that it doesn't support pptx format. the pdf of the powerpoint created is not upto the mark. my file contains flowcharts. I tried using the office pdf maker [the microsoft one] and doPDF 7 to create pdfs which were of bad quality. I want to import the shapes as vector which ain't happening
