View 11 RepliesI have a problem with spot colors from X3 to X5. I have defined some spot colors in my X3 to tell my Roland Printer what he has to do. When i open a file, made in X3 using one of these spot colors, with my new X5, the spot color will be replaced with turquoise. I have no problems opening x3 files in x5 when i used a color from the CMYK palette.
Is there a solution to retrieve my spot colors?
I would like to know how to export a 2 color *.cdr creation (logo) as an *.eps such that it has two grey scale layers each representing the two spot colors I chose?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a new Roland printer, an LEJ-640, which prints in CMYK plus white and clear gloss.
In order to print a white bitmap, I must apply a spot color to the bitmap. I used the Bitmap|Mode|Dutone to apply the white spot color and it seems to work correctly--it shows up as a spot color when I use the print dialog to preview separations.
When I use either print to file with the RolandVW print driver or File|Publish to PDF, the spot color on the bitmap is not preserved, Versaworks does not recognize it as a spot color. Color output is set to "Native". However, a vector object on the same page with the same spot color applied is recognized as a spot color.
The pink part in the versaworks screenshot indicates white spot color, as you can see only the vector object is recognized.
I have a palette provided by Roland for their digital printers to match their standard colors. In order for the colors to be recognized and converted by the RIP, they need to be set as spot colors in CorelDraw X5.
It would be nice if I could change the Treat As Process/Spot attribute for multiple colors at once in the palette editor.
I peeked at the CPL file--unfortunately it's not something easy to edit like XML, CSV or the like. Too bad that, too.
CDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.
Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?
What the "Bar" in spot color property box means?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to assign a custom spot color to a shape via VBA? The best I could come up with was something like the following (where "sh" represents a shape):
sh.Outline.Color.FixedAssign cdrCustom, 1, 100
I'm under the impression that cdrCustom is supposed to represent the user's custom spot color palette, but this doesn't seem to work.
Furthermore, I can manually assign a custom spot color to an object and then retrieve the PaletteID and PaletteIndex of that color using VBA. For example:
Debug.Print ActiveSelection.Shapes(1)..Outline.Color.PaletteID
Debug.Print ActiveSelection.Shapes(1)..Outline.Color.PaletteIndex
The PaletteID that returns is 0 (cdrCustom), and the PaletteIndex returned does correspond with its order in my custom spot color palette. In fact, I can also retrieve the Color.Name and it will correctly identify the custom spot color's name.
For the life of me, I just can't seem to assign these colors using VBA. Is it just that the VBA in CorelDRAW 11 is too immature?
why change the CMYK values of a color when converting to spot color in a color chart
xmp C 0 M 90 Y 100 K 0
to C0 M 87 Y 89 K 0
In X5 is there a way to change the size of the centre 'white' spot when using transparency or is it always proportional to the object size?

I have Outsourced these Business cards to the same company. See attached.
One is more vibrant than the other, which were done at different dates.
The process consist of Publishing to PDF and noticing after we received them, both came out Different.
Soon after I opened both PDFs and they were different on my end.
What can I do to maximize color and make them vibrant like the one on the left?
The kind of graphics I do are used for a web site and also for printing with a Roland Versacamm wide format printer. My question is for graphics for a web site do you design in RGB colors and when you design for printing are you using CMYK colors.
Or are you using one type of color over the other for both purposes?
I'am having trouble with the color management of x5. In coreldraw11 everything works great, but in x5 the colors seem to be bleached.
How can I get the same results in X5 as I have in coreldraw11? I print with a Epson sw515,
In X6 it appears the option that X4 had (is not available) was I could right click the arrow at the top of one of my Palettes and go down to (Palette) and then there, their was an option for find color. X6 doesn't have that. Also the eye dropper is shaded so I can not use it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI read somewhere that "Proof Colors" is not a feature introduced in X5 but there was also in X3. Is that true?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way of adjusting all the colors on a design to 50% to 25% of their intensity at the same time rather than do it one by one?
I went to print>misc.>proofing options: but I only see full color proof and no addition level setting.
It's probably an easy step but i just haven't figured it out yet.
I just purchased the new formula guide and digital software manager from Pantone. I have successfully imported the home and fashion colors into Corel Painter, but I am having trouble doing this in CorelDraw. I see nothing on the adobe swatch exchange (.ase) or importing the new PMS colors.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I select "all objects" via the menu and remove the setting "scale with object" from the object properties the color changes from CMYK to RGB. I cannot even redo. All actions are redone but not the color. The primary color of the document is CMYK. This happens only to the borders and not to the fillings.

I just upgraded to X6 from X4 about 2 weeks ago. I do all of my work in spot colors since i'm in the screen printing industry. Since not all of my clients have upgraded I still have to save down my work to X4. This is where the problem begins. When its been saved down it's creating a LOT of extra colors in the print separations. It's a lot of the same color. For instance I used black, Pantone Rhodamine Red and Pantone Yellow...when I save it down to X4 it's giving me 2 blacks, 3 Rhodamine Reds and about 10 Pantone Yellows. When I export to pdf and open in Corel X4 it doesn't do this...only when I save down. I don't want to have to export and open each time I have to send a file.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy problem is when I design something on CorelDraw X6, the CMYK colors look good but when I print the project at Walmart, the colors are richer/darker looking and or some of the colors are off. The Walmart I send my files to uses an Epson 7890 printer and Kodak Color Edge EKTA photo paper.
I've calibrated my monitor so I don't believe that is the issue. The color profile it's set to now is sRGB and the preset is North American General Purpose. I've also called Epson and they told me to call Kodak which I did and the Kodak person told me to contact the Corel People. I figured I'd tap into the CorelDraw Forum collective wisdom first before trying support.

See the examples below. I have a table with 24 different colors. When I determine to create a custom palette with 24 shades of this table, all colors are added to my custom palette (pic. 1).
Now, assuming I double them to 48 tones, which the criterion adopted by CorelDRAW to create the midtones? Note that Green color, in the second row (pic.2), has not an intermediary tone, while for White (last color) were created three options.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI jumped from using Windows XP with CorelDraw 11 to Windows 7 with CorelDraw 16, and ever since then, I have been having problems with colors changing in my PDF files. Before I send the file, I open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro to make sure the colors look correct, and they look fine..., but the person who is receiving the PDF tells me that when they open up the file, the colors change (usually to black), or nothing appears at all. What is up with this? I use Pantone Solid Coated colors in my PDF files because that is what we use to match our silk screening inks.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an eps file that fades in color when imported to Corel Draw X4. Could there be something missing in the Adobe Illustrator eps file that causes this or is it a problem with Corel?
I'm using Corel Draw X4 with the SmartDesigner X4 add-on package. Also, I recently added a sublimation printer to the mix. But, it doesn't seem to matter which printer I send the image to, the colors are faded in Corel draw even before I attempt to print.
