I'm trying to transfer my Smoke 2013 License from one system to another and can not start up the LUT utility to do the transfer process. Can I uninstall Smoke 2013 and reinstall it to make that happen?
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded Lion to Mountain Lion. After that the license server wont start. I opened a case on the suscription page but it is weekend and I think wont get support. Really need to use Smoke over the weekend.

I just moved Smoke from an office to my house. Have different IPs in both places. I understand that I need to change the IP on two places: the "hosts" file and on the license itself. Where can I find these files?

Have FCP Studio and/or Adobe production bundle running on the same system as your Smoke? If you do what issues do you have? I've heard that you should be able to run all 3 on the same system, maybe not at the same time and that's fine, but I've heard others say to go the old route and keep your Smoke system as just a Smoke system. We are currently in the process of racking our system up and will be starting to learn the system very soon but I've been wondering if there are down sides to including other software on the system.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFirst: I ordered the Smoke 2013 (floating-)licence through a german reseller a week ago and I still got no answer. Is this a normal "new years eve" delay?
Second: The Smoke installation is on a computer that's OS was actually cloned from another computer. The HostName, LocalHostName and ComputerName were changed, but Backburner still insists in using the "original" name given at the OS-Installation. So if the other "clone-computer" is running, Backburner gets in trouble and is stuck on waiting. During the troubleshooting process I turned on websharing to access [URL] ..... This led to the result, that anytime i restart the machine the computername is changed to 0.0.0.0 and the backburner wount work. No way, yet, to bring this back to normal.
Third: Waiting for the smoke-licence I already begun working on the project. Now it seems that I'll have to do a clean install of the system to get it finally running. But I do not want to loose the work so far. Is there a way to bring the actual project back into an new installation of OS/Smoke without having to archive it which does not work at the moment?
I've heard it said that it's not a good idea to use your system disk as the media storage, but I've never heard why. I'm running on a Retina MBP with a 750GB SSD. I did a couple of small jobs using it as the media storage and everything worked fine and fast. Then I archive it off to a slower drive. So what's the problem with doing that? SSD is way faster than USB 3 spinning drives & even Thunderbolt. I read somewhere that SSD isn't good for high end video editing, etc., but don't understand why.

While trying to export it says "Export Request Failed. The maximum number of exports for this serial number has been reached. You may not export more licenses than you have purchased. Error reference:36" It seems as my old licence is on server.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and installed AutoCAD 2014 using one of our subscription licenses in order to review it before putting it on other machines (for the purpose of bug-checking and trying out new features). I also have a Map3D subscription license for which Autodesk offered me a free trial upgrade (for this subscription term) to Infrastructure Design Suite (IDS).
While going through the steps for installing IDS, I noticed that the IDS license includes a copy of AutoCAD. I cancelled it before installation and tried to use the LTU to export my current 2014 license. However, when I try to open the LTU, the Windows working icon spins for a bit then nothing happens. It works for my 2013 license but not 2014.
I am trying to export my license so i can work from home but the utility isn't working.
I always get that message:

The number is the right one and it didn't create any error when installing...
Why does AutoDesk doesn't want me to work from home?
I have installed AutoCAD 2010 onto my laptop (Mac Book - VMware Fusion). All has installed ok
I exported my AutoCAD liscense from my work machine - again all fine. But on my laptop i dont have the License Transfer Utitlity to import it. I have performed a search and it finds my 3DMax LTU but not my Autocad one
We have 5 seats of Autocad LT 2013 and I need to change/upgrade their pc. I need to deactivate the licenses so that i can transfer or activate to the new computer but License Export Confirmation is failed. the computer is connected to the internet. I tried many times but still no luck.

1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?

In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?

It's comming from FCP7 and we have Automatic Duck but neither the XMLs or AAF bring anything other then the first speed of the clip. Any way to retain the keyframes?

I tried Smoke 2013 PR2 on my MacBook Air 11".
It uses all the available RAM that is 4GB.
Same experience with Smoke 2012 on my MacBook pro 13"".
Is that normal?
I have RED footage which I exported as EXR. When I import them back in, they look exactly like the RED footage. But when I import the EXR in Fusion, export it back out, and then import that EXR into Smoke, it looks brighter, although I didn't change anything in Fusion. (when I compare the EXR from Smoke and the EXR from fusion in my finder on my desktop, they look exactly the same). So what is Smoke doing with the "foreign" exr on import?I was also playing with the LUT settings. I get a result which is close, but I need to be exact.
