I need to open about 50 folders and extract the image sequences within the folders from my library. A flame demo artist showed me how to do it at NAB and I can't remember how to do it now.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to relink still images in Smoke. I have .tif files and were taken by a still photographer. As I'm relinking to the original sources, Smoke is identifying sequential file names as image sequences and it's not available in the Potential Matches as a link option. For other stills in the same folder where there is a break in a numeric filename sequence, Smoke identifies and relinks just fine.
Is there an option to ignore image sequence identification?
I also run into this for other elements where are numbered by designers like credits_01, credits_02, etc.
Using Extension for Smoke for Mac 2013.
1. When creating a subclip from the source sequence, I then go to edit the name of the new subclip in the Media Library. After doing this, the sequence timeline switches to what looks like a viewer, and won't switch out of that mode until I double-click a sequence in the Media Library. This appears to happen when I create a new folder and drag the subclip into it.
2. Clips in the Medial Library within Folders are in sorted order. Please allow the editor to place clips, folders and sequences in whatever order they want, via drag and drop placement.
3. Shift-/ (play in-out) does not appear to work.
4. Names in the Media Library that are too long only show the end of the name. Standard Mac behavior is to show the beginning, then an ellipsis, and finally the end.
5. When viewing a source "timeline" (which rocks, BTW), please remove the name of the source from the timeline track. It gets in the way of audio waveforms, and in this case, is redundant since there's only the one clip anyway.

How do you share media and edit sequences between projects?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe client asked me to give them a version of the Final sequence in which the colour of a looping background was slightly different so that they could compare the two. They also asked for two different pieces of music so they could test which one worked better. Before they picked the final version they wanted everything slightly shorter. The duplicates keep piling up.
Is there a way to swap put a shot in a master sequence and have it update in all the other duplicates I have made? How does one keep track of all the sequences in Smoke with all these little changes.
PS. With the audio I put the two music tracks in the sequence and muted one or the other. Dealing with different lengths of a commercial needs me to duplicate and then things start piling up.
Backburner doesn't seem to work properly for me in the release version. I cannot export file sequences as backburner sticks on waiting. I can however export Quicktimes fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just started playing around with Smoke 2013. I played around with the CFX and did some keying. Now, on the timeline, I have a clip with CFXa and an axis effect. Now I thought, that it should be a container, and that I could simply double click the clip, step into the container and copy out the matte. But that doesn't work anymore, since double clicking now enters the editor again.
So, how can I access the matte (and how can I step into the container)?
Oh, and now that the unrendered clip is on the timeline, I only get the message Unrendered Frame. Obviously Smoke can't play back an unrendered clip, but why doesn't it at least show the frame I'm parked on? And also, I started rendering, but it took forever, so I stopped after 10 min. In Smoke 2012 it rendered at least partially, but now I still only have a dotted line......

How do you extract a section of a timeline but keep sync further down the timeline?
I wanted to take a section out near the start, it just had V and A1, A2. There was A3-6 further down the timeline but they hadn't started yet.
For some reason I can't get Smoke to cut a track that hasn't got any media before that point. So, at the section I needed to remove I couldn't place a cut and so when I removed a section A3-6 stayed where they were.
I also tried marking in to out and extract but again it left the other audio tracks.
Such a simple thing, but I can't work out how to do it
How to do it ? in cfx , alt-ctrl-drag will work fine, but not in mk. I'm using fcp hotkey so i can't use alt-cmd as it's used to zoom by default. Using fcp hotkey has the same problem ? i created couple new user but they don't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoing a conform with footage coming from about 12 different external drives.Many of the folders on the drives are AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM crap that I will never use (They've all been converted to ProRes files on the drives). Smoke takes FOREVER to scan these folders.
It's generally our practice to not alter production drives - but I'd be willing to rename folders if I could trick Smoke into ignoring them during the relink/ search.Could I rename them with a period (or maybe # ?) at the head? (I'm not terribly Linux savvy, so just wondering if there are tricks I'm not aware of that might also work on Mac.)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Smoke and have an issue. Im importing an xml from FCP and Smoke crashes in the library. I'm taking a class @ FXPHD and the first class is an easy xml import reading the source media.
As soon as I load the xml into the clip library Smoke crashes. I've already gone thru the system set up requirements and have a great machine built to Smoke requirements. I'm wondering if it is a network configuration of some sort? Not sure...

I try to copy an edit from one project library to anothe project library, I get the error message: Clip Mgt: Entry "..." has pending rendered video media. Deselecting entry.
How can I find out which media ist still pending render? Because everything is processed, everything has been loaded in via store local copy... The only thing I couldn' figure out is, my edit has the little lightgrey SOFT icon on it (although no clip within my edit has that icon....the only light grey icon there is in my edit is the H for clip history. so I don't know where this is coming from, and maybe it all connects together...)

I wonder how many of you would love to have that back. Cant find a poll option here. So guess just reply. Not that its gonna change anything. But atleast we would know how many wish to see it as it used to be. May be AD might have second thoughts.

The Thumbnail in the media library are not useable. They need to be larger. I know the desktop is also an option, but for quick scanning, they don't serve there purpose.

The only way is to look at the 'eye' icon in the media lib. It's not a fun when i have many folder/lib and i expand them. So i have to scroll down to find out what library i'm currently viewing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project with one library read only - incompatible, It started after an error with archiving, I think that the library was locked by archive process and now I can't even select the library, when I select appears the message: CLIP MGT: error when opening archive: SF: Operation could not be complete. And smoke changes to another library.

Is there anyway to turn off sorting alphabetically in the media library? I really dont need this feature and in the versions of the past I was free to organize however I wanted.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried working on PNG image sequences instead of video footages.the problem is Smoke recognizes the fps as 59.94, and i want to make it down to 25fps.i tried using PAL.cfg, the frame rate did change to 25fps but when the sequences are imported in the timeline, its still 59.94fps.

To explain: for my project I am taking hi res stock photography, separating out the mid, fore and backgrounds saving as individual layers then bringing into action.
With my current image there is a sea and sky. To make the illusion of 3d scenes I am angling the surfaces down there natural line of perpective to add depth so that when I slowly track the camera from right to left there appears to be depth and parallax.
For this example I am tilting the sea from being perpendicular to the camera to being tilted right back. When I do this the top of the picture which is now further away from the camera eye appears smaller. To compensate for this I would like to 'taper' the object. I know I can set the surface to being bicubic but then I have to work with bezier handles as moving the vertices bends it all around.
Is there either a way to make the handles have no beziers or is there a simple taper tool I can use?
I cut out the sky in the top layer of the timeline and the sky still beneath it is showing through. I need to color match the two shots. How can I see both shots in the CC effect so I can match the two?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got single clip in desktop and it got an alpha embedded. If i drag that clip into the cfx , the clip will be interpreted correctly where alpha will be recognized. The problem in action is when i drag into action schematic, the alpha is ignored Smoke should know if there's alpha embedded then by default it should use it. ANother problem is when in media list , i add new media then click the clip twice (to grab F and M from the same clip), the result : i got blank alpha. Again it should load the alpha while there's alpha embedded . I think , this should become the dafault behaviour to deal with alpha. Although loading this clip in cfx schematic will solve the problem, i think the action still need to be fixed.
Also it should be cool feature if i can drag the clip from library and drop it in media list , and it will replace the media of the selected item in media list.
