I have 50 spots in a folder I need to archive. Do I have to open them individualy, select all and consolidate spot by spot? It feels like I should be able to click on a folder and consolidate everything in that folder?

First, is there an easy way to take a single edit and export it with handles? I realize that I can make a subclip but is there an easier/better way to do this?
I can't find an automated way to set handles on export. I have about 175 shots that I need to export .
My handles for objects in action are so very very tiny. Is it possible to change this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is a real problem with either storing media locally or generating proxies as smoke is bogged down creating all this unwanted media...
It seems to work (though not 0 correct) when you bring in an xml and smoke finds the media straight off the bat...but for any clips that don't link and you have to set a search location the specified handles get ignored and the whole clip is brought in...
This means that if you just want to unlink a sequence, consolidate and re-link to R3D media for example, all handles on all clips are ignored...
I've a question regarding a conform workflow in Smoke/Flame. Is there a way to reformat your timeline to HD, but with keeping the handles and cuts?
For example if I do a conform with 4K red files in a HD timeline, after the conform. I would like to commit everything to HD, but with handles. This is because I don't need the smoke to cache the large 4K source media files.
I tried using the reformat option, but this gives me only 1 long clip. without cuts and handles
I also tried selecting the timeline, and choosing commit timelineFX. This will commit every clip and keeps the edit points, but…..removes the handles.
In the old Smoke, before 2012, there was one way. Namely to use the reformat tool in the library. But now it's gone.
Not sure if it's a bug or not but when removing a whole project the "random" folder(s) are still in the Media Storage folder. Everything connected to the project(s) are gone but not the random folder smoke creates when creating project files. Any specific reason their still in the Media Storage folder?
Im a bit of a neat-freak... After removing a whole project, is it safe to remove all the empty folders? Or would that cause problems for other projects?
there is a Folder with MXF-Files on our Network that I am accessing trough the gateway. The folder contains 1600 Files. The Browser Display Options are set to Titles. Smoke needs approximately 20 Minutes to show the content of this folder. Every other software on the machine does this within one second. why that is and is there something I can do to speed it up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Smoke just crashed and there is the possibility of loosing all my projects. I have localized some files that I want to "recover" even if they are all scrambled. The problem is that these files seem to be single frames .mov files. If I try to import them to another Smoke they will be imported as single files and there are 6000 of them. How can I tell Smoke to treat the individual .mov files as a single sequence. I renumbered the files.

I would like to create a junction point or relocate the /hd/var/discreet folder to another drive. It would be nice to be able to refresh this machine at moments notice. It seems that this is one of the only points that need to be kept that reside on the local HD.
Is it possible to convert a folder shared in a server to a true disk ?

1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?

In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?

I would like to add that volumes A and B are my Master Library, each of which is subdivided into folders for years and within each year there are folders for each event. The two volumes have the same hierarchy of folders.

All of those on my H drive are all under a single folder My Lightroom photographs. Those on my C drive are under a whole set of about 50 folders. I can consolidate all my folders on my H drive within lightroom library module by dragging and dropping on the left hand side. I have experimented and I can certainly drag from the C drive to the H drive. However I need to create a visible top folder destination file on the H drive. Ideally I would like to go to my existing Lightroom photographs but if I can't I'm happy to create an aditional umbrella folder.

It uses all the available RAM that is 4GB.
Same experience with Smoke 2012 on my MacBook pro 13"".
Is that normal?
I have RED footage which I exported as EXR. When I import them back in, they look exactly like the RED footage. But when I import the EXR in Fusion, export it back out, and then import that EXR into Smoke, it looks brighter, although I didn't change anything in Fusion. (when I compare the EXR from Smoke and the EXR from fusion in my finder on my desktop, they look exactly the same). So what is Smoke doing with the "foreign" exr on import?I was also playing with the LUT settings. I get a result which is close, but I need to be exact.
