AutoDesk Smoke :: Organic Movement Of Plane Along Path?

I have a plane that I would like to move along a path, but it should bend according to the movement of the path. How can I achieve that?

I have a shot with handheld camera. I like the movement but it´s a bit too much. So i want stabilize it, but just take off let´s say 50% of the movement. Is that possible in an easy way?

I edit in FCPX and do effects and stuff in Smoke2013.
I have a shot done with handheld camera from helicopter. The camera is hung by a system, and we have a small gyro on it. But not yet a wiscam or other cool stuff.
So, in fcpx I can us load and lock X and it is really a beautiful steadycam shot. How do I do that in smoke.
The auto stabilizer does not give me a smoothcam version. And normal stabilizer is just for doing 2D stuff....
The shot, is a helicopter flying around an oilrig, and a nice horizon as well. It is orbiting the platform. So I have at least 90 degrees flying around the platform/oilrig.
How do I do this in smoke?

I'm coming from a Symphony and FCP background. I do a lot of keying in the timeline when I'm finishing, so I'm often moving the green screen clip from track 1 to 2 and then putting the BG on the lower track. I'm used to being able to constrain the movement of the clip so that it doesn't slide around on the timeline and get out of sync when I move it. Does smoke have a hotkey for this? I've noticed if I hold shift, I get some indication of where Smoke is lining up the clip relative to other clips by some highlighting, but this does not constrain the clip I'm moving.

I'm sure some people will call this the "Paperman" effect.
I see a lot of information out there on how to use motion vectors to do motion blur, but not much else. I'm sure they are capabable of soo much more! All that movement information from 3D in a 2D environment sounds great!
I have motion vector channels correctly exported from Maya and I'm wording which CFX combination I would use to composite a texture in a way that it was controlled by the movement information of the motion vector channel.
I know these 4 CFX can read motion vectors.
Motion Blur Node
Timewarp Node
Pixel Spread
Motion Analysis
But so far, no luck in achieving the desired effect.

Im trying to get an effect in Photoshop 7 where the line stoke is like a brush stroke. I mean with regards to pressure (ie when you draw a line it thins out at the end of the line...like a brush stroke in reality) I have a photo and i want to create that drawing in a few strokes making it looking free flowing etc... I created a 3D text and a 3D path. Now I simply want the text to follow the path (the text should always look at me, so I can read it). But as soon as I connect the path to my axis of my text, the letters are being pushed together. No matter what path settings I try (Look at... etc) the letters don't extend back to their original "position"

I'm doing an animation with simple camera moves. One of them is a camera moving slightly around an object. I want to make a "look at" or similar, so that the object is always in center no mater where i move the camera. This works untill i connect the camera to a 3D path - then the aim follows the path - not the camera :-|
How can i animate a camera on a path and make the aim stick to a certain location in my scene?An extra question: How can i make an object move at a steady speed on a path no matter how i drew my path (hope this makes sense)?

How would one generate a shape (e.g. a roto'd shape that is tracked) and enable its use as a path for a text write-on?
The text node only has one input and if I set text to write on a path then there is only a straight line to manipulate from scratch - with no options to load or save or connect as far as I can see...

How does one implement the use of two pivot points to control movement concurrently in the X- and Y-plane?
I 've added a Link Constraint to the salmon colored component which is linked to the red cylinder pin at far left. This pin has a Path Constraint to an Arc path which is orientated left-to-right and arching up. The pin at right has a line Path Constraint that moves down and to the right. Still image 01 shows the retracted position. Still image 02 shows the animation at 50%, the Fowler hinge follows nicely the path of the left most pin quite well. Notice no movement occurs in the down direction that would be imposed by the right pin - if it worked/was set up properly.

I know that the AJA Kona 3 card has 2 outputs. Can Smoke send one eye to one channel and the other eye to the other of the Kona 3 card? Dual Stream output is what I am really getting at.

Is there any way that Smoke can see/output sub-blacks and super whites? Can't find any way of seeing them on my scope, Smoke just clamps everything. It won't even see anything below zero in order for me to make a correction on it, everything seems to be clamped on import. I'm using ProRes HQ footage.

I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?

Does Smoke have selection functionality similar to that of Combustion? As an example, you might want to selectively blur part of an image. In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?

a few things involving cameras. My assignment was to use our plane that we modeled with poly's and animate it on a motion path(used cv curve tool) and have a camera above it follow it. Now I got that down perfect.
But what I don't have a clue on, is how do I attach a camera on the same motion path as the plane and have a camera angle right behind the spinning propeller? Like a cockpit view.

Possible to change/set the work plane while sketching the path of an in-place model? This guardrail extension is an example of where I would have liked to change the work plane while sketching the path because the path shifted planes. I believe you can do this in the family editor, but I could not get it to work in the in-place modeler. What I ended up doing (as an experiment) was to create masses and picked their edges to get the path I wanted. I would love to be able to have more control over the work plane, like defining the workplane by a face and then being able to move it relative to the face selected.

Whats the dealing with importing TWs to Smoke? I have a show that's 70% keyframed with timewarps and need a way other then baking the effect to bring it into Smoke. It's comming from FCP7 and we have Automatic Duck but neither the XMLs or AAF bring anything other then the first speed of the clip. Any way to retain the keyframes?

I tried Smoke 2013 PR2 on my MacBook Air 11".
It uses all the available RAM that is 4GB.
Same experience with Smoke 2012 on my MacBook pro 13"".
Is that normal?

I have RED footage which I exported as EXR. When I import them back in, they look exactly like the RED footage. But when I import the EXR in Fusion, export it back out, and then import that EXR into Smoke, it looks brighter, although I didn't change anything in Fusion. (when I compare the EXR from Smoke and the EXR from fusion in my finder on my desktop, they look exactly the same). So what is Smoke doing with the "foreign" exr on import?I was also playing with the LUT settings. I get a result which is close, but I need to be exact.

When I export a XML from FCP 7 all of my files come over and link but there is no video with my HDV files (1440 x 1080) all of my other files (Canon FX etc) come over fine.

What is the best way to downconvert 5D HD to SD?
I converted the h.264 files to uncompressed 10bit. Bringing in the footage and XML was fine, but as soon as I resize to PAL (the timeline was changed to PAL, as was the output on the AJA) the picture starts anti aliasing in detail areas. I have processed this with every filter in Smoke with no satisfactory result.

I am having issues for a long time regarding importing XML into smoke 2013. Will try and explain you in breif.
First When we try an import XML into smoke it just doesnt do anything, in the message history box it comes up saying FOUND 0 SOURCES.
Nothing gets imported at all. No footage is imported, nothing is shown in timeline as well.
Second For a different project when the XML does get imported, the videos get imported but then again nothing is coming up in the timeline and in the message history box we get the following error.
XML Validation Failed.
Cannot process unliked media.
we have checked all the import options to make this work, including max up level and the rest but nothing is working.
