View 2 RepliesI've just encountered strange issue and I cannot find the proper solution anywhere.I work in AutoCAD for 5 years and I am used to type commands on the keyboard (I usualy don't use icons in AutoCAD).
I was used to...just cancel all previous commands by ESC key and start typing the command. But since last week I had to click in the command line to write the command in it. How to type commands without annoying clicking in command line?
If I type in refedit, wipeout, match properties, properties and quite a few others my command line reads Not Recognized! I can't live withour these comands! Not sure what I did, it happend yesterday and I was getting hit by all sides.
Added note: it doesn't seem to mater how I try to get to these commands i'm equally hosed if I use short cut, spelled out, on the ribbon, right click. . . . .access denied.
I still have use of line join edit etc.I don't know if this is related but 2012 dosn't seem to remember settings like if you check the double click to edit in options save work space after the next day it is back like it was.
AutoCAD Map 2010 has just been installed in my PC and since i first runned AC the command line, menu browser and key commands don´t work. This way I can´t do anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust converted from 14LT to 2014LT. In 14LT, when drawing a shape, say 4' by 5', I used to be able to draw the first two lines, 4' and 5' and then simply push the up arrow to retrieve the last two entries at the command line. When I do that now, it gives me some sort of dimensional coordinates.
Also, same subject, different useage, when drawing from points to points, I used to be able to draw a line from a point to a snap point such as intersection and then simply push the up arrow to retrieve that command to the command line over and over depending on a snap by snap basis. Again, it just gives me the dimensional coordinates.
Most of my Command Line Commands have stopped working !!! I noticed when I wanted to mirror/flip an object, I could not get those Command Line commands to "expand". When I tried other Command Line commands under "Image", "Effects", etc, most of these would not work either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a way to assign keyboard shortcuts for different selection sets functions/commands.
I failed to find selection set commands in customize user interface menu. seems that they named it in a manner so that people cant find them when they simply look for "selection" or "set" or "create selection set" or "make selection set" .
what I need is:
1. when I select a group of objects I want to make them a selection set with one keyboard shortcut. (to go to the sets menu window and press that "create a selection set" button is too time consuming. I am also aware that just writing a letter to the selection sets dialog creates a set but still I want that shortcut.)
2.select an object and immediately jump to the whole selection set with a keyboard shortcut. or toggle through selection sets.
3.delete the active selection set with one keyboard shortcut.
are these functions available as native commands in customize user interface?should I go looking for a maxscript ?
I'm an Autocad 2004 user and I was working in a auto cad drawing and I wanted to install a new hatch file and now I cannot get any of my short key commands, Z zoom, Line, Circle, Etc. every time that I enter a command I get a message saying Unknown command Press F1 for help.
how to get the commands files to work again.
Having only recently started using Autocad 2012 (I mainly used various versions of LT over the last 10+ years) I have noticed a few strange goings on.
It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes whilst in a command ("move" for example), when I go to click on an object or pull a window, a separate, totally random command activates itself. Why this happens, I just hit escape a couple of times & continue what I was doing.
I'm not sure if it is a case of me, in my haste, missing my intended object & hitting the right click button (which I use as a return & not a drop down menu).
I had command shortcuts created in 2012 (in the acad.pgp file) for AECC commands like drawing feature lines, trimming feature lines, etc. My shortcut commands that began with AECC aren't working in 2013, perhaps becasue these now pull up a dialogue boxes before the command is shown in the command window? How I can get keyboard commands to work for this? I'm lost now looking for all sorts of buttons!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI press CTRL+9 to make the Command Line disappear while drawing. When I plot (or when doing a plot preview) , the Command Line appears again by itself. So I always have to turn the Command Line off manually after each plot
The bug still happens;
- if Dynamic Input is turned off or on
- if I plot to a real device or in PDF
- if the Cammand Line Palette i docked or floating.
This is not an issue in AutoCAD 2012 so I guess it has to do with the new way they programmed the revamped Command Line palette in 2013.

This happen outside the potential malware infection?
if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:
NORMAL:
Command: _move
Select objects:
NOW:
Command:
Select objects:
same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
line command is a multiple command. there is a way to execute it like a single command?
View 4 Replies View Relatedif I select a line, then enter the move command, the line unselects also when I select a line, then hit delete, the line is still there both of these used to work
2013 Civil 3D
Basically I got a process which is quite long , let's say 30 seconds.
I want put a counter at command line showing to
user how many objects has been processed so far. But I don't want to use New Line Feed to change the line and keep each new number at same line and same location of command line.
Is there a good reference that deals with command line formats in scripts?
I'm trying to create a script from an Excel file with a sequence of line commands. However, it seems I have to add a blank line in between each one to end the input. Is there something I can add at the end to avoid having to insert blank lines?
Also have the same problem with the -layer set command.
I use ctrl+ the number pad to change the point size of fonts. I just got thinking, it would be nice to use the same commands for making the current selection larger or smaller too. Maybe 2 and 8 would be down and up by 1 percent of current size and 4-6 could be 1% of original size. 5 would be 'return to 100% of original size.

I've been searching for a command that could actually cut lines for purpose. For example, if I'm drawing a 2 line crossed, wish I could cut the 2 lines so they are now 4 segments. On a circle, I could actually draw a line that pass trough the circle on cut it off the way I wish. Does such command exists for autoCAD? Very often, I've many lines at the same time that I wish I could cut with a single one. The problem is that I don't wish to trim 'em and extend (losing time and long process). Sure there is also the div cmd, but this isn't what I'm seeking for.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had a problem this morning where for some reason I needed to do a drawing recovery on a map - which is fine, all seems well.
The problem is that now when I type a command, it doesn't appear next to the cursor anymore. It's not really a NEED having it there, but I've gotten to like that in the newer CAD versions, and now I can't find the setting that makes it come back. Sure I CAN type everything and have it show just at the bottom of the screen, but I'd rather have my dynamic field back.
How I can restore it?
This is the problem I have. When I type something, ie a line length or a command, ie purge, whatever it is I type it is not shown in the command line... what am I doing wrong or what setting do I need to change..

I am writing a API in .NET. I can send commands to the AutoCAd command line using the sendCommand feature but can i access the result returned too? I am not able to find the right class/function the redirect the command result back to my API
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem and as this has happened the first time I fire up autoCAD I can see that I am not going to have as easy a time as I did with 3D studio Max.
I found a tutorial on line, and it was talking about the command line, so i was entering points like it said, fine. I had to put it down as something came up at work. Go back to it to play some more, now I can no longer specify points in the command line, pressing space or enter just clears everything and asks to specify a point again.
What have I don't to make this happen, or is it a bug in the program. I have tried restarting again but still no.
I can't see that I changed any setting (never do) or did anything to make it so the instruction line under the Command: window at the bottom of the screen now expects me to enter text, i.e. In the Command Window we have "open", after I clicked on File / Open, but instead of being taken to the usual drop down of my hard drive the bottom line on my monitor reads, "Enter name of drawing to open <.>: The same thing happens if I try to save a drawing. This is making it extremely difficult to open and save, i.e. to work....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently started using v2012 after some time using 2006 2008. I frequently would use the ED command to add text to a dim line but it appears 2012 uses a different command for this.

Is there a way to activate the command line transparently? If you are in a command, Ctrl+9 cancels it.
I was going through some exercises in an ACAD book and floating my command line, etc. and now I can't get it back to it's original place. Or at least when I do it's covers everything there. How do I get it back to normal?
