AutoCad :: Plots Are Plotting Random Edge Of View Which Is On No Plot Layer

View 4 RepliesI've been working on some wiring schematics lately and I noticed that when I plot to PDF (using both Adobe and the ACAD PDF plotter) my plots are coming out fuzzy. It looks like I have a shadow around my text and lines. In the attached graphic, the plot on the left was drawn about a year ago, the one on the right was done within the last two months. I recently went in and changed the PDF plot setting to High quality print. Ultimately,I didn't have this issue last year and as far as I can remember, I haven't made any changes to my plot settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm drawing in pipe networks I like to use a user created block for structures. I do this by manually inserting the block I need (DI, MH, etc.) at each structure location. Since there are different blocks for different structures, having the structure itself display as a user block via the structure style isn't really an option since it will display the same block for all structures unless you make a style for each type of structure. So I like to have my structures set to display on a non-plotting layer via the style display layers. This way I can still select and modify its properties, but it won't show up on a plot.
My question is: If the style display layer is a non-plotting layer, why is the "object layer" (0 layer in the case) overwriting the display layer and causing the structure outline to plot?
If I put the display layers of the pipes onto a non-plotting layer, they will not plot even if the object layer is a plotting layer. The workaround so far is to select all the structures and set their object layer to a non-plotting layer, but this is not ideal.
We recently upgraded to 2014 and have been experience significant issues with plotting to PDF. When plotting individual pages, we are able to center the plot and adjust the margins to where they will plot correctly. However, when trying to "batch publish" mutiple layouts of a drawing they all come out off center or parts of them are being cut off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with "phantom" lines appearing in PDF plots.
The Situation:
The firm I work for often uses Excel tables in Autocad LT 2013. I have learned through experience its better to use a linked table, but in this situation only paste special is an option due to time constraints.
Basically when we try to plot a DWG with tables specially pasted in the drawing space phantom lines appear.
But only when we try to convert to PDF. In the plot preview everything is fine, but when the PDF is created vertical lines appear in the tables on the actual PDF.
I've tried many different options to fix this but so far the only thing that has worked is, converting the DWG to a DWF and opening in Design Review. From there I plot to PDF and everything is fine, no lines appear.
In the DWG I have tried tweaking the Plot Quality for the "pasted" tables to no avail.
Just upgraded my PC and before when I select plot quality "high graphics" the spreadsheet comes out low resolution, if I use monochrome spreadsheets came out perfectly defined.
Now with the new PC High graphics still comes out the same but when I select monochrome all I get is a solid black block. If the OLE object is an image (BMP) it comes out perfect with monochrome,it only happens with excel files
I search the forums for an answer but the closest I found was changing the OLE type under properties (currently is embedded); problem is the field is grayed out and cannot be changed just as the source application (ms excel 2003)
By the way, on the older files created with my old PC if I just open and print them from the new computer they come out perfect; if I open the OLE file and modify it, the solid black block shows up regardless if I print to PDF or print on paper.
As stated, my wipeouts are working just as desired when I plot single layouts, but when I publish multiple layouts they do not work at all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this problem with my MText Background Mask. You can take a look at the two attachments. Each one gives me the same issue, but with different MText objects. I'm also plotting to a KIP5000 and a SHARP All in One, and I get similar results, except in some of the MText, they come out in a random color as well. The pc3's for all devices are set to Lines Merge.
The text is actually part of an xref file, and if I plot directly from the file they are in, I have no problem. I did a test where I copied the text into the sheet file, and got similar results when the text is in modelspace, and I got my intended results when the text is in paperspace. Now, this is the way I want to go...but the company standard is to draw it all in the xref, so I have to figure out how to get around this.
I've gone back and forth with the Merge/Overwrite options in the pc3, and when plotting to PDF and SHARP, I get the correct output with Overwrite, but the KIP just completely ignores the background mask with Overwrite.
why the drawing plots results using the viewport scale in the layout is not accurate?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have the educational version of ACAD 2012 and this is my first time using that version. My model is done and I formatted my layout with a border and the model to scale in the viewport. When I go to plot to PDF, all I see is the border. I've tried fiddling with colors and viewports but neither of those did anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll, I have created a drawing with cross sections. When I open the drawing the material table shows up below the section view instead of where I placed it. If I update the group the tables go back to where they should be. The problem is when I publish them using SSM the tables show up below the view , where they are when I open the drawing. It would be very time consuming to plot each sheet individually.

I have one user who cannot plot correctly from his workstation. All of his drawings will be missing information when they are plotted although they look perfect in the print preview. For example, at the bottom of every drawiing, he puts in a single text block: "Drawn by: SLM" and sometimes the 'S' in his initials won't get plotted, etc. He can save any of those drawings to a shared drive and plot them from a different workstation and there is no issue. We are using AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 on Windows 7 32bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I publish a drawing as a multipage DWFx (or PDF for that matter) with "Include Layer Information" selected, the Plot Stamp (Simple Date/Time and Text) comes out but on different layers on different layouts.
Example:
First Layout : Plotstamp resides on Layer 0
Second Layout: Plotstamp resides on Layer 3P
Third Layout: EQPT-VC
etc
Some general information:
Autodesk AutoCAD 2011 64bit
Autodesk DesignReview - 2012
Adobe Acrobat X Professional
Layer 0 Is thawed/plotable and on in all layouts, viewports all layers, viewports. It has at least one entity per layout
Is there anyway to rectify this and still use the built-in Plot Stamp?
New hard drive, had to reinstall LT 2010 (Win XP). Trying to batch plot, going through the normal prompts, little plotter icon in lower right does its thing, then the message says "errors and warnings found". When I open the "plot and publish details", there are no errors or warnings, and the plot file i just attempted does not show up at all. Tried different variations, none work.
The first couple of times i tried it, it seemed there was a problem with the default path for the output file, in the publish options window, as if it could not see the server, but then i would browse, point to the exact same server folder, and it accepted it. Also tried to save the output folder on my c: drive, but still no file. I will need to make this plot file by tomorrow for the client, or i will have to send them 40 individual pdf's.
Ive got a A3 drawing all set up to plot to my printer and it works fine.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said when I use the _exportpdf command (or the PDF function in the ribbon):-
- If I export using the current layout then the top and bottom of my title block are chopped off.
- If I change the paper size to A3fullbleed then it does plot the whole drawing, but not to scale (even though its still set to 1:1
- Changing to the other A3 options goes back to chopping off the top and bottom.
From my limited knowledge It appears that the columns need adjusting, trouble is, i'm not sure how?
Is there a way to set the Dwg to Pdf.pc3 so that when I hit plot, it "knows" to save the pdf in the bloody folder that the source .dwg file is located....I can see how to set it to 1 single default folder in Options ( i.e. my main Clients folder) but really, how to get to to plot to the source folder..... has got to be less than 1/2 hours worth of coding....I get pretty tired of browsing/scrolling etc to where I want the pdf to end up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on getting my autocad groove back, and I'm not sure how to get my plotted output to look right. Specifically, how to plot b/w instead of colors, and how to control lineweights. BTW, I seem to have ctb files, but they don't show up in the styles when I go to plot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashed. Fixed it, but when I use "Cutewriter" now, it doesn't show
the different line weights.
it seems that it doesn't pick up the different weights.
am using ACAD2008 on windows XP. I have just started having this problem that if I choose to plot from a window the plot dialogue box locks up after the window is selected and the command line is still asking for the corners of the window to be selected. But everything plots ok if I use extents.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use several different printers at our company, and one thing that I find really bugging is that I have to change the plot settings on each sheet, if the file has been worked on by someone else.
Is it possible (for example) if I've got 7 sheets set up, they all have an A3 drawing set up (correct extents, pen settings etc), for me to highlight all of the tabs and just change the printer? Rather than going into each sheet and manually changing them?
We've got an HP Designjet 455C attached to an SBS 2003 computer.
From Autocad, I can print when I set the page size to A4 - as expect, it prints a nice A4 sized plot on the A1 width roll. But if I try to print full size plots, nothing happens; the document spools, but the printer does nothing.
It must be something to do with paper size or orientation, but I can't find what. I wondered if there was anything well known I should try (I'm not that familiar with Autocad - yet).
Part of the problem was inconsistency.. sometimes test documents would print, and then they wouldn't! I also got one which seemed to print at the right size, but was only printing part of the file content. These are existing Autocad files, with a printer that has been working in the past.
I am using the monochrome plot style and plotting to PDF. My text looks great in the Plot Preview, but once actually hit 'Plot' the line weight of my text and dimensions appears super thick and heavy. They are also assigned to the lightest line weight in the layer property manager.
View 9 Replies View RelatedTwo of our computers have windows 7 and we are unable to publish or if we plot we have to wait until that page is completed before sending another page otherwise only some the information shows up when printed (ie. no dimensions or no title block). This does not happen on the other computer in the office which still has windows XP.

var myVar = Math.floor((Math.random()*6)+1);
var stage = sym.$("Stage");
var myAni = sym.createChildSymbol("Symbol_" + myVar, "stage");

The script works fine, but, at NEXT keyframe I must load another series. The problem is that the symbol loaded in the previous keyframe is still present and the new symbol overlaps it.How can I unload or discard the previous symbol?
I have a banner I have been working on with three spinners like a slot machine. Currently I have everything hand animated to rotate the spinners to spin to one of 4 options each. What I would like is to have a button that triggers the spinners to rotate to a random ( 1 of 4 ) points over the course of 1/2 second 500ns.
Is there a code snippit that will make an object rotate to one of 4 chosen variables?
I have several animations converted to symbols and I want the composition to call one at random on load. These will be page header animations and my intension is use the same composition on each page that pulls an animated header at random when the page loads. I've done this with Flash using Actionscript but not sure how to code it out in Edge.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am finding that my DWF files sent to the plotter are plotting with the linework being heavier than the same file sent directly to our plotter. These are just lines that should plot with a narrow width (ie walls on a floor plan) but they seem to be about twice the width and hence look "darker". Is there a setting that I am missing or some other way to get the lines to plot out thinner? Also, TTF fonts plot thicker in DWF. I've tried the various options in the DWF viewer when sending to the plotter, but none seem to work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with plotting line thickness, when I use the company setup using a d-size B&W.pc3 and mono chrome.ctb files, i can't seem to get the plotter to show line thickness. But using the same setup with a customer border, I can get the line thickness.
Also I not sure if this makes a difference, but the company plots from model space and where most of our customers use paper space.
Years ago, there was a program of routine that would plot files to a sheet resembling a photographer’s contact sheet. You would tell it which folder to use and it would print the entire folder. You could tell it how many rows and columns and it would fill up the 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 sheet with little images of the files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to plot a layout sheet 24'' W x 18" H. The frame on my sheet is 22''W x 16''L (inside the dash lines limits we see on the layout). I believe I prepare the print correctly:
- Select the printer (HP DESIGN JET PS)
- I use the window fonction to select the printable area ( left upper corner and then the opposite corner).
- Select Paper size Arch C (landscape)
- Paper orientation: Lansdcape
The preview shows that the upper and bottom lines of my frame will not print, and they do not, even if I try (see the attachement below).
Is this a driver problem?
