i know how to apply a filter to my Layers dialogue box - i use this often to just show local layers when i have a .dwg with a few xrefs in it, each of which have heaps of layers within themselves, and i don't need to see the xref layers etc
How to do a similar thing to the Properties bar layer field?
until now, when i needed to change the layer of an entity, i click on the little arrow on the RHS of this drop down field in the properties bar, and then have to seek out my layer name, which could be amongst the hundreds of xref layer names, depending on the naming conventions used etc.
i know with perfect naming convensions or by putting a "0" in front of my local layers, then at least all of mine will be grouped together at the top, but is there a way to bypass that option to ONLY show local layers???
How to Apply adjustment layers to multiple layers that have different blending modes and keep the colors the same as the adjustment done?
I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!
I am trying to find a command that will pull up a dialogue box with all layers that are frozen and be able to select one or more to thaw from that list. I hate the layer manager, it's too slow especially when I have a ton of layers to deal with.
I just instaloe GIMP a few days ago and was working with a simple project when, somehow, I lost the dialogue box for layers (the one that usually appears on the right of the work space). I am running ubuntu if that makes a difference. I can still see the layers tools in the application bar at the top but can't do what I need to without the actuqal tool box for layers.
I want to apply a filter (poster edge) on several pictures. I don't want to do it separatly but in batch. I tried the automate batch but I can't do it (or I have not find out how!! )
Time was, I used to open the GIMP and the Layers dialogue would just be there for me. Now I always have to open it again, every time I start the program. Tell me what's changed?
I am wondering if there is an easy method to apply a video filter to EVERY video clip in a project instead of having to apply it manually to every clip.
I'm trying videostudio pro x5 and it looks very nice, but I have a problem that I think will lead to be a big limitation in the potential this software has, so I guess this is a bug or maybe I am not using it in the right way. I just hope is not that way by design
Anyway, the problem is that when I apply a filter to an animation or to an image (like PNG) that has alpha channel, I can see the filter coverin the whole frame if the clip is in the main video track, while if I move it to the overlay track the filter will only stay inside the picture, for example I've tried this with the lens flare.. please see this image (situation 1 on top and then situation 2 bellow the orange line):
I'd expect the lens flare to go over the transparent area of the clip so that it will be overlaid with the "background" main video track, but it is not. This is just an example but for example the same happens if I apply the lightning filter to a text filter or to a png..
I also have a similar concern with the free TitlerEx plugin that I've downloaded after registering: if I put it on an overlay track I can't just have the text with transparent background overlaid to the main video track.
I'd like to know how to apply a "filter" to a bunch of images. By "filter" i mean a grid for sharing image in equals parts. How to be able to locate elements in a image. And to "apply" this grid to all the images of a directory even by script-fu if necessary.
I just installed a trail version of photoshop. I put a photo in photoshop and then I tried to apply a filter but I cannot see any words in the screen. It is a bit difficult to explain so here is a picture. how to solve this? I also cannot use any colors, I can shift the red but I do not see anything on the my photo.
I'm doing a project where i am trying to make a house (like a simple one you would see in a real estate ad), but with the lines being squiggly. I applied the zigzag filter to the entire thing, and it looks alright, but the whole house is distorted, not the individual lines. I want to know if I can just make the individual lines have that zigzag look, like some one scribbled it lightly. Is there a way to do that, and if so, how?
I have got as far as understanding the difference between CTB and STB plot styles, and have identified I require STB, as I want to apply plot styles to individual layers as opposed to certain colours.
I have converted my drawing from CTB to STB and have set up an STB plot style to acheive what I would like. However I am unable to apply the styles held within this STB to individual layers in the layers property manager. In the plot style coloumn they are slightly greyed out, upon clicking on a layer a 'Select Plot Style' box appears which lists the "normal", "style 1" & "style 2" that I have created. However upon choosing a different style and hitting ok it doesnt apply my selection.
I am reasonably confident my STB file is setup correctly, as it is possible to apply the styles to objects using the object properties box, and for these to then be printed correctly to the style assigned.
I see if I apply and adjustment layer, it works for the whole clip but any filter outside of that or rubber stamp only lasts for a few frames. How do I apply them to the entire clip?
Is there a way to apply a single string value "Phase1", or "Phase2" to all layers in a drawing? I though about exporting a Layer State, modifying it in Excel, then re-importing the layer state, but, Layer States don't store a value for "Description."
I'm creating a consolidated map from several drawings, but I'd like to be able to separate the layers from each drawing. Description seems like a good value to populate and be able to sort by in the Layer Manager.
I am trying to filter all used layers in Layer Properties Manager. Is there a simple way to do this? I am coming from a Microstation background and that has a column for Used layers.

I just installed Photoshop CS3 on Win XP Prof and when started using it I could not apply any filters to layers.
Created an 8 bit RGB file went to Filter Gallery, chose a filter, saw the results, pressed OK and nothing happend.
Logged in as Administrator and Filter Galleries worked fine so I assume there is a permission problem but could not find which file to change permission for.
I want to change permissions so a "Users" account can use the filters.
When I try to apply a filter (in this case distort-glass) on a regular RGB 8bit layer(1 or above), it wont work. If however, I draw something on the base (background) layer and apply the filter to that, it works fine. Seems it does not like transparent backgrounds.
Is there a function or script that lets you automaticly apply materials to layers by name? Lets say I import a DWG that has 3 layers. Layer 1, 2 and 3 but no materials. I have 3 materials in my scean that are called 1,2 and 3. Is it possible to have all the objects in layer 1 to get material 1 applyed, all objects on layer 2 get material 2 and so on without manualy applying to each layer. For example if I have 100 layers and a 100 materials it would be a hastle and take long. I'm thinking there might be a script or function for this. I have looked but not found one.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
I ran to a little trouble using photoshop today. I wanted to get rid of the "adjustment layer" but leave the effects.
For example:

I can't use groups because my real project is too complicated. By the way, applying the adjustment layer to all of them means all the layers remain an image but they have been modified (for example: color, black and white, etc.).
