I have done a drawing of some house plans. I am now trying to enter text in model space, but when i enter it, it appears very small at 2.5, only if i enter at 500 it appears ok. In the layout tab the text at 500 appears very large, and when i enter 2.5 it appears ok. I have not made any changes anywhere.
View 9 RepliesI've been runing LT 2013 for the past couple of months, everything was working fine until recently. Occasionally a viewport will go completely black. I can doule-click into model space and select objects, though I can't really see them. If I delete the viewport and make a new one, the new one works fine (at least for now).
View 4 Replies View RelatedACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.
I am relatively new to A.C. 2010 and have a recurring issue with copy and paste. Currently all I am trying to do is copy text from paper space into model space and it wont let me.

I would like to see a way of locking out model space while editing text in paper space. Unless you double click right on the text, you often end up in Model Space...I know - big deal right? It can become annoying or a big deal when a deadline is looming - when is one never? Also big fan of locking viewports.
When I create drawings of the objects in model space but can I add text annotations, leaders, dimensions etc in paper space.

I currently have all my text and dimscale set to 0" height. I have the 'scale dimensions to layout (paper space)' radio button checked. However, I cannot see even the slightest hint of test when looking at my screen. I sent a dwg to a friend of mine who plotted it. no text was visible. What height should I set the text to in order to achieve an 1/8" tall plotted text? I cannot see text in either the model space or in the paper space.
One minute it was fine so I know I must have hit something, but I can't fix it. When I hit enter while adding text it will not skip a space, it goes back to the original start point and types over the existing text.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to rectify my model space text issues for a set of drawings. There are approximately 12 drawings which all have the same problem. I have not seen this problem in other drawings.
The text in model space appears bold and rough. I have checked that all the text is set on the 0 Z plane. I have taken the following corrective actions and have not had success:
-Confirmed text is at Z=0
-Reset the UCS to world
-Changed the Z coordinate to arbitrary number and set it back to 0
-Checked that drawing & viewports are 2-D Wireframe
-Other Desperate Measures: Purged, Audited, Created in PS then move to MS
We had a CAD temp. that set up the drawings who is no longer with us, so I have clue what he did to the drawings when setting them up.
Text in the model space is displayed annoyingly thick. It was always ok but something changed beyond of my knowledge in one particular project only. Can't change it back, it plots ok though.
You can compare the pictures: two different files with absolutely identical text settings... And, when I try to choose between text styles in text properties it says "The current style has been modified..." although I did not! I think both things are related some how...

Anyway, I can't seem to be able to type anything in text or mtext windows. I either have my keyboard input ignored completely, or I get blank spaces, depending on what font I choose. Disabling the Aero themes don't work. All runs fine in a XP virtual machine, but more slowly.
Getting the proper text size in model space.
If single or multi-line text is set at a particular size, notes or dimension text for one object (like a fabrication detail) could be legible, where as text for a much larger object (like a floor plan) could be hard to read.
Is there a way to compensate for this? Or is it a matter of manually adjusting text size for every drawing component? So far, I have found the easiest way is through the Quick Properties feature.
I need to change the text line width in model space, not the overall text width or the text line width/weight in paper space. Our mold maker wants to measure that on screen and he wants to set the text line width to 0.060”, while the overall text width fixed.
For example, the text “REMOVE FROM BOAT” is 3” wide total from first letter R to last letter T and height 0.4”. That is easy to do. The hard part is that he wants the line in each letter to be 0.060” (1.5mm) wide. I practiced the true type text which is measurable in model space, but that is fixed with for a certain font with a certain size. I can change from one font to the other and get different thickness but cannot change the width freely to 1.5mm as requested.
when working in my current drawing (Model Space), i create a new mtext item, and it shows in bold, i am aware of the common problem of the text items having a z height other than 0.00 causing this, but i have checked, and reset the z height, have also tried the flatten command, and even tried explode and then flatten/z height.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I edit text and dimensions in model space the text will go huge and my text is non-annotative. If i change it in properties box it does not multiple it or if I am editing text though a viewport it will not multiply. Example - if I have style set to 4 (height) and I create mtext.
Then I decide that I want text to be 5 so I double click on mtext and highlight the text and change to 5 and the text will instantly be 200 not 5, but if I change in properties box it will stay at 5 or if I am in a viewport and change the text by double clicking and highlighting and then changing it to 5 it stays at 5. My issue is for whatever reason only in model space is the text being multiplied by a factor and I cannot figure out why this is happening.
when i open my drawing, the text MUST re_cover it is only showing in model space area.How to i get my drawing? is it possible? because this dwg i got from some other contrator.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I have it in my head that you can put all of your text and dims on in model space, then when scaling your viewports the dims and text will re-size its self automatically for that viewport setting. I.e text will be 25 in model space, but in vieports it will plot at 10 or 2 depending on the viewport setting.

When writing dtext or dimensions on my drawings in modelspace the text appears rough/rugged in both model space and layout space. I am using True Type (Arial) as the font. I've read older posts where people have suggested checking in Properties that the text is really laying down at 0 in the Z plane which it is. Some say using True Type is the problem, but just last week I was doing what seemed to be the same operation and I had no problems at all.

I can do this in paper space (viewports) as the annotative scale controls the appearance, but for doing analysis of points at various zooms in model space, it would be nice to be able to Regen and have them all come to a certain text size.
I've made some expressions that are modifications of those I use in paper space, but I can't seem to find a function/variable that I can reference for this purpose.
I have text in a base dwg next to a c3d s.s. structure table. Looks fine in base dwg. In the plan/profile this is x-ref in the text is on top of c3d table text. visretain is 1, text is not annotative.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I place new text or line work in a file it is fine, but when I save the drawing, close it and re-open it all of the text and line work found in model space goes gray. Yet if I place new text and use the match property command on text placed previously, that is now gray, and use it on new text, the new text recieves the attributes of what the previously placed text has minus the appearance of being gray. In my drawing I am using a shape file and a data connect image through planning and analysis.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen creating text in model space it appears both mirrored and rotated 90 degrees to the horizontal. However, when I create text in paper space it is fine. I have tried looking at the properties for the text but although I can find a place to rotate the text back to the horizontal it is still mirrored and therefore unreadable.
When I copy paste stuff from one document to another this also occurs.

I can log into another user's computer and open the file fine. But when i use my computer or a brand new computer fitting all Auto CAD specs, it locks up. When I plot I have to reset my settings to the PTE standards every time.
I now get CAD errors when CAD is not even open. Also VTPSUHM barely works. I generally have to restart my computer several times to get it to work.
Lisp that would permit Toggling from Paper Space into the same zoomed area within Model Space and vice versa.

I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a block that reads the x and y coordinates of a point from the end of a leader. Which is fine and easy enough if I use the block in the same space.. ie model space or paper space (layout tab).
However I wan't to be able to capture the coordinate from the model space, through the viewport, and pass it onto the block in Paper Space. Is this possible?
Or is it a case of having to use a more LISP based approach?
I'm running ACAD LT 2013.
I have a solid hatch that is in model space (actually in an xref in model space). When I use multileaders (in paper space) and point into the hatched area, that part of the multileader becomes hidden. As if it was a layering or object arrangement issue.
is there a way to COPY objects from model space to paper space? CHSPACE only "cuts" geometry. I need the same geometry stacked in both model space and paper space.

I'm trying to avoid having to go through the steps to scale down the object once I get it in paper space).
