AutoCad :: Drew In Wrong Drawing Of Xz Instead Of Xy
Feb 17, 2012I accidentally did my drawing in the xz plane and y is always 0, is there a way for me to get the drawing into the xy plane?

View 9 RepliesSee the jpeg: 1.345 is a regular dimension, .875 is a hole note. The hole note is wrong.
(the part doesn’t have to be scrapped. It can be dis assembled, sent back for rework, refinished and reassembled.)
I make a drawing1 with layers on it and then I made another drawing2. I Xref the drawing 1 as my reference , where I put the column of the building. When I open drawing 2 referencing drawing 1, my scale is different. my inches scale is becoming feet when referencing in drawing 2. I put the same LTscale and limits in both drawing
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are in the middle of implementing AutoCAD 2013 to replace 2010 so at the moment I am converting / modifying our own code to suit the AutoCAD 2013 API.
One of our routines collects data from drawings (drawings are not fysically opened in AutoCAD) using the system variables 'LimMin' and 'LimMax' in order to collect all objects drawing within the titleblock.
Point2d min2d = (Point2d) Application.GetSystemVariable("LimMin");
Point2d max2d = (Point2d) Application.GetSystemVariable("LimMax");
Only the objects in the titleblock area need to be processed and this gives the engineers also the opportunity to add extra information outside the titleblock. We have used this method in 2007 and 2010 releases of AutoCAD succesfully.
But with AutoCAD 2013 I have run into a snag. As said does this routine not fysically open the drawing in AutoCAD it merely adresses the 'autocad database' so to speak. It seems that 2013 selects the variables from an opened active drawing instead of the 'opened' drawing by the routine. What do I need to modify in the lines of codes stated above to get this rouine up and running?
The workaround for this moment is to skip the collection in the titleblock area al together and select all objects in the entire drawing which does not speed up things very much
Set up the settings tab in Toolspace to always skip to display the drawing that I'm not working in? I just spent half an hour creating expressions in the wrong drawing,

View 2 Replies View RelatedI occasionally download drawings from web sites, (McMaster -Carr, Grainger, etc) for parts that I'm using. They make it easy: they offer drawings in multiple formats, (I use .DWG), although there's also .DXF.
The drawings open right up no problem. Here's the problem: What I see almost all the time is that when I copy and paste those drawings into my drawing, the scale is wrong.
Specifically:Say the original drawing has a feature with two holes, and the original drawing shows those holes as 1 inch apart, center to center. I paste that drawing into my drawing, and when I dimension it, the holes are never 1 inch apart. They're some completely different unpredictable dimension,
Is there a way to paste differently so the dimensions come down right, or is there something else I need to do so I can use those drawings without all the hassle I have now?

In this case I downloaded image it came in way off. Then i used project base jump and in came in where it should, but the quality is not good enough for what i am trying to determine. so i downloaded an image from [URL]inserted it using mapiinsert. It came in once again way off, but i noticed it came in where the other image did. What am i missing. I do not fully understand how these images choose where they land. I understand there is a world file that gives them xy coordinates, but that is the end of my knowledge.

Using Inventor 10, I have replaced several components of my assembly with new copies of the components to be modified into new parts. For some reason the model tree still shows the old part numbers, but editing the parts reveals that they are indeed the new parts. How to correct the part listing in the model tree?

Attached is a picture of my problem with what it is doing.

Autocad 2011 and 2011 LT both give the wrong area for sertain polylines. While Autocad 2005 gives the correct area.
Its terrifying how many official documents may be wrong because of this bug.
My background masks is displaying a border (which is not desired) and they are not masking the backound but instead are masking the text. What gives? (see attached)
This issue is specific to one drawing. It seems to effect all background masks regardless of style. They are set to use drawing background color. And border option is set to false in the label styles.

Also, why the pen table is printing correctly that would work as well. The attached image was printed using a black/white pen file. Go figure.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently begun using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" plotter/printer for making PDF files of my AutoCAD 2013 drawings because it's quite a lot faster than using the "Adobe PDF" plotter/printer that I have been using up to now.
But today I noticed something very odd: After I create a PDF file using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" plotter/printer, when I go into Windows Explorer (the file manager) and click on a file to select it, the file shows the "Date Created" and "Date Modified" as being "11/27/2007 9:11 AM" even though the file was actually created today, 4/18/2013 at 3:01 PM. If I right-click the file and select Properties, the General tab shows this incorrect date and time for the Created and Modified data, as well as the Accessed data, which you can see in screen capture 1 attached.
Before you ask the obvious: yes, my computer's date and time ARE set correctly. This is as if AutoCAD has some sort of "internal" clock that's set to the wrong time, the wrong dthe wrong year, and is assigning that wrong information to the finished PDF file... very weird.
And then opening the file in Acrobat itself, when I click on the File menu and then on Properties, the Document Properties window appears and shows the data contained within the file: and it is the CORRECT Created and Modified date & time! You can see this in screen capture 2, also attached.
So it seems as if the "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer/plotter is creating the file correctly, and placing the correct Date and Time data inside the file for Acrobat's use, but is coming up with this bizarre time on a date over 5 years in the past as the data that Windows "sees" in the file's Properties.
I'm simply baffled by this. It wouldn't bother me so much except for the fact that we make many corrections and updates to files without changing or "dating" the file name, and my boss frequently asks me to sort the files within a folder by the Date Modified, so we can find the latest revision.
A colleague of mine is having the following problem: He has a dwg file (AutoCAD 2010), with all layouts set to a custom sheet of 8.5" x 13" (215.9 mm x 330.2 mm). When he makes the publish to PDF (that is AutoCAD's default PDF option), he gets all the sheets in a ginormous size: 900 mm x 1,600 mm (35.4" x 63"). See image attached.Picture1.jpg
He keeps asking me the favor to publish it, which I do without problem. I have to say that I am using AutoCAD 2012, but before I posted, I tried using yet another PC runing 2010 and there was also no problem at all.
He is able to publish regular size documents without problem. It appears to be just that one file, but only on his PC.
I am using AutoCAD 08. I have been noticing that when I create a Multi-page PDF by creating a New Sheet Set. That some of the Items(Text, Numbers or Lines) in Paper Space are not appearing on the page that they should but instead appearing on the next page. In the location where it should be on the previous page. Is there a way to fix this bleed through or is there a better way to create a Multi-Page PDF other than what I have been doing?

I'm trying to type in 3'-6" and instead this show up 3è-6È. If this starts to happen, it will keep happening until I log out of my computer and log back in.

I have a simple rectangle 17.619units x 1.499units = 26.41units². The units are supposed to be meters.
Why does the area function (Home, Utilities, Measure, Area) give a result of 423.3422? I don’t know what units this is in.
I have tried this on several rectangles and all come out with a strange result.
This is a drawing I have inherited. When I do the same thing in a new drawing or one of my own drawings the result is correct.
I use LDD04. Usually when I want to combine 2 or more tool palettes and create one with tools I mostly use,I have all the palettes open, then I r-click on one tool palette I want to change, then go to customize and drag and drop tools I need from other palettes into the one customizing. This didn't work this time, now when I go over one tool with the mouse, it shows different name for it, so the icon and function is messed up. I also am missing the icons of those tools I added to the palette. When I'm going back to the palette where I grabbed on tool from, it's not there anymore. How can I restore tool palettes to their original form and how can I create a palette with only tools I want?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been dimensioning my 3-D model in paper space, but my dimensions are wrong and I don't understand why. The height on this drawing attached was drawn as 3'-9" but everytime I try to dimension it in paper space it reads as 3'-3 1/4". And my width should be 2'-6" and it keeps reading as 1'-11 1/4". I have no idea where this came from, and I have double checked my work several times now, it was drawn correctly. And on top of all that, now that I have been messing with it, my dimension no longer changes to oblique the right way, I think I may have changed a setting along the way and made things worse.

When I import the survey file it automatically draws the lines correctly, inserts the correct marker, and places them on the correct layer. But the marker is dashed as well and not continuous. Is something overriding this setting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the drawing, i annotate a thread. the automatic text for thread depth is always, as far as i see, incorrect, for example if the thread depth is 50 it writes, i don't remeber, but something like 250.
Maybe it has to do with the font, altough i doubt. i am in israel, and the quantity of threads, also an automatic text, is written backwards, for example 4x instead of x4.
When I create design points, they will not display until I thaw a layer that the survey points are on. I have double checked these settings: On Toolspace Settings tab, under Points-Commands-CreatePoints, Default Layer is "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Default Style is set to Point Style=SPOTS-TEMP, and Point Label Style is set to TEMP-POINT#-ELEVATION-DESCRIPTION. When I check these styles, they are both set to the layer "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Yet every point I create ends up on the layer "C-E-POINTS_FIELDWORK_11-14-11.
