I have some issues with MTEXT lately:
1. The fonts are not the same in Text and Mtext esp. with respect to the same Verdana font. In Mtext, it is thicker and that's actually what I wanted.
2. I want to know about ways to easily amalgamate two separate mtext or more into one same mtext.
3. Is there a way to hide/display text grips.
4. I am looking for a Verdana/Times New Romans autocad fonts equivalent.
I've noticed in AutoCAD 2012 that the MTEXT grips have changed, for example, MTEXT justified to 'middle centre' displays just 3 grips, one centrally for moving and 2 'arrow' style grips for stretching. In previous versions of CAD which I used, the MTEXT would have 5 grips, the additional 2 giving more versatility when placing text. However, when using the TXT2MTXT command the resulting MTEXT will display 5 grips (see image).

What I would like to know is if it's possible, perhaps with a system variable, for normal MTEXT to display 5 grips as standard as mentioned above?
How to hide hatch grips,how the grips of hatch can be hidden.

When I select a block that contains a multiline attribute my AutoCAD does not display the corner grips of the attribute if its location is "locked" in the block. Is there a setting I can change to show grips in 2012? Apparently a co-worker of mine that uses 2011 has grips when selecting the block.
If I unlock the location I have grips (not the same ones I am used to seeing from mtext though) but I do not want the attribute location unlocked..I was understanding that the multiline attribute was simply an attribute containing an mtext.
I have multiple singular text objects on my screen and I want to convert them to mtext so I can use the Background Mask option within mtext on my drawing. how to quickly select all the text and convert it to mtext without it combinin ginto 1 mtext?
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery so often, and I have not been able to determine common cause, when editing mtext in the default mtext editor the text in the editor will display as some other font - handletter, TXT, whatever - something other than the Romans I typically use. And both the style and the font are set to Romans. When I finish editing, the final text in the drawing is correct, so it is more an annoyance than anything.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the MIRRTEXT variable because that is used when I'm actually mirroring the text. In my case, the text is mirrored as soon as I insert it. How can I get it back to normal? Is there a variable I'm missing?

I recently updated to 2014. My coworker updated yesterday. When I want to change the location of dimension text I hover over the text grip and the menu appears. My coworker's menu does not appear.She did a repair to the installation but the menu still does not appear. Is there a variable that controls that?

I'd like to be able to have 2 lines in the Format Text box and have the first line show up on the drawing (IDW) but have the other line only show up in the Format Text box for reference. I've tried making a new Text Style of Hidden but any time I try to change one line it automatically changes them both.
Is this even possible?
NOTE: This is in AutoCAD 2002.
I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."
How to convert "TEXT" to "MTEXT". I inherited a bunch of drawings and want to convert some of the text to a particular font. Since many of the annotations are in TEXT, I haven't been able to find a way to change the font. I can change the style in Properties, but not the font.

I have tried most of the available True-Type fonts, for the text but all give the same error. I can edit the polyline generated by txtexp by hand to remove the problem, but I am trying to automate the process. How to get this to work?

I have a whole bunch of labels that are single line text that I want to convert to Mtext. I have been using the Express Tools TXT2MTXT command but that only works on one label at a time. If I select all the labels at once using this command it gives me one long Mtext string. Is there a way to convert all of the labels to mtext, but still maintaining individual entities?

Is it possible to change multiple texts, but separately WITHOUT having to re-issue the command? I've experimented with some of the in command options, but unless I'm missing something, nothing seems to work.
Preferably, I would like it to work like the FILLET -> Multiple command, so I could select a group of texts, convert them then select another group etc, but the 'multiple' option in TXT2MTXT does not work in such a way.
I am using mtext and would like to put the ruler over the top of the text, not underneath it how do I change this.

It is set to copy the last size I used but when I need to edit the size, it multiplies what I enter by 8 and turns inches into feet. In other words, I try to resize 6" to 3". The text editor will then multiply 3" x 8 and size the text to 24 feet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I enter the MTEXT editing function, then type a letter on any given line of text, that line rotates to the world UCS. This makes typing almost impossible, as the overlapping text can't be read clearly.
I'm using AutoCAD 2013 for Mac and looking at my drawing with a rotated UCS.
I basically have a block with two text attributes which they are the same but in different positions.
When you double click on the block I don't want to enter "A" as the attribute value twice. I just want to type "A" one time and automatically receive it on the other position as "A" too.
Basically it is Detail(A-A) as in the following block.

I am looking for a solution regarding mtext placeholders that are of extreme lengths compared to the actual text length. Is there a solution to make it more or less the same length as the text?

One of the layers is in red, but when I plot the file, all the lines are red (which is OK) and the text is black... what am I supposed to do to keep the text in red?
The same happens when I export the CAD file to PDF.
In autocad 2008 I could put a hide box around my text to hide what was behind it but not the text. Now in 2010 and 2012 it hides the text unless I elevate the text. Is there a way to put it back to how it worked before?

The dwg was fine, then it crashed while changing from modle space to paper space...
When i recovered the dwg, EVERY MTEXT I try to edit becomes rotated vertically and stays that way when i close the edit box...
I do not recall hitting any buttons or making any keystrokes without my knowing...
Is there a way to get my text back to Horizontal and stay that way?
I tried setting the MTEXTFIXED to: 0, 1 & 2.
NONE of these options changed anything.
I NEED to have this fixed. more importantly, i need to know why this is happening sop that i can take steps to prevent this happening in the future...

I've found some routines that can combine pieces of MText but I don't know if they preserve the paragraphs.I have DotSoft Toolpac but it doesn't seem up to the task. C

But the weird thing is that all the text is from the same style, none of the text is bold and they are all the same size. So why are some bold and some not? See attached, running Autocad Architecture 2011 on XP 64.

The text height & the width factor are the same since i created the attribute default by copying the mtext. when i close the block the text appears longer than the mtext it was created from.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy coworker who does not have AutoCAD is trying to find text in a 250 page PDF that I am 98% sure came directly from a DWG. When we search for the text in the basic search command in Acrobat Pro we get nothing. Is there a way for Acrobat to identify the text or mtext as characters, not pixels again and search within those pages to find the text? And yes, it does occur at least twice in the doc that we have noticed.
I'm on Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and he is on Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro. I have AutoCAD 2013 MEP.
I have a workstation which has Express Tools installed and working properly, except the 'convert text to mtext' command does not appear to be working. The other Express Tools commands are working properly.
