Im practicing for my CAD certification test and im trying to select all objects inclosed in a poly line. Right now i have a bunch of random circles and a random figure drawn in the middle of a bunch of circles. How do i select ONLY the circles that are completely in the object?
P.S. I would add a picture but i don't know how to take a screenshot on windows xp.
is it possible to fill enclosed polyline in plot style table editor? i prefer different modification for viewports.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can do this in AutoCAD Map but I have my doubts. I will explain in ESRI GIS terms (this is what I am familiar with) and I hope you can tell me if I can do this in AutoCAD Map. In ESRI ArcMap I can select a line and I can hit a Select by Location button. In this window I can select all of the objects that intersect my selected line. Then I can delete them or export them etc.
In AutoCAD Map I have a polyline selected. It is my road centerline. I want to be able to select all of the other polylines that intersect my selected polyline. Is there a way to do this? I need to erase those polylines. Usually I will pan to each of them and select them individually. It just seems to take a lot of time. My AutoCAD co-worker said I could use a fence and draw the fence through my polylines. It seemed to work ok but I accidently deleted extra things that I needed. So I'm back to manually selecting each one by one unless you know a different way.
I accidentally turned something on in Autocad, and I want it to go away, I have no idea what it's called or how to get it gone. It's akin to the "select other" window in Inventor when you select at the intersection of several objects.
How do I make this go away?
Right now, when i click one object and then another, the first object becomes deselected. Holding shift is the only way for me to select multiple lines right now (other than dragging of course) but that's not what I'm used to and it annoys me a lot. At first everything is fine but then after a while it does this without me changing any options at all.

When they select objects, its not reporting on the commandline how many objects its found or keeping a running total of objects selected. Not even any duplications...
I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!
Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.
I am currently dealing with a question for a project I am working on. I have a complex building, in which all rooms are described by a tag. The tag is a block which contains as attributes several kinds of information about that room (height, finishing, etc.). One attribute is the surface of the room, which is linked to a polyline by a field (if the polyline changes, the surface attribute changes consequently.
Now, basing on the fact that there is a correlation between my block containing the attributes and the polyline (the correlation is given by the surface field), I would like to select polylines in my drawing basing on specific values in my attributes block. Example: I want to select all the polylines which are linked to the blocks containing as an attribute the text "1.1.1.1.1", or the polylines linked to a block containing as an attribute the text "library".
This would save me loads of time to generate some specific drawings.
Is there a way to select more than one polyline at a time and get a total LF of all of them together?

Somethings are just acting weird now, like my hatching...
All my old hatches that were associative are acting like one seltions like if i hatch a polyline now when i go to select that hatch it now selects the polyline as well.
This never happened before abd the only way to edit it now is to either make it in the properties not associative then i lose my boundary or just to explode it then i a ihave an exploded hatch...before i made it assoc. and i could just edit or select the hatch only i think its an option setting...
I have polylines that when selected, under properties it lists Object Data for the selected polyline. There are like 10 categories. This drawing is actually creeks in a county and they have object data connected to them where some are "a" some are "b" classification and I want to select all of the "a" polylines and put on a diffrent layer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
I would like to select a polyline that will either be straight or contain bulges and offset lines either side of it a prescribed amount, I have tried a couple of options that don't involve picking points on both sides to no avail.

-shift select first vertex, shift select next vertex, etc
But this workaround is limited because I want to delete those vertexes, I cannot find the remove vertex command when I have multiple vertexes selected.
I've managed to create an array using custom blocks. This array is obviously comprised of "x" columns and "x" rows. What i'm trying to do is have the ability to essentially link all of the objects per column (and/or per row) with a polyline. So if i have 5 columns generated, I would like to have 5 polylines extend over those columns. Any example of how to do something like this. View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to have a table that updates when I change the length of a polyline, These lines are split up into segments for different types of materials. We usually add this up manually but would like to find a solution that is a little more automated.
I have mostly a background in GIS and have excellent knowledge of Autocad Map. I came up with a solution by creating a shapefile and making a multi-part feature for the segments. I added a table and connected to the .dbf file of the shapefile. I then calculate out the lengths of the line and update the attribution of the shapefile. Easy and took a few minutes to do.
I just want to know if there is a better way of doing this. I have did some searching and have found some information about alignment tables.
I have drawings with a lot of polyline objects. I need a routine which will draw multilines by coordinates of vertexes of this polylines. For example, if there is a pline with coordinates 10,10 - 20,20 i want to draw in other layer MLINE with the same coordinates. I know it's should be simple but can not gues how to do it. I've never used LISP before.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way of finding out what objects (lines) don’t quite join together and enclose the space I am trying to hatch/fill within. I'm going round all the corners and intersections with the 'fillet' command just in case I miss something but couldn't imagine doing this if there were lots of corners in a complicated drawing. Would be so time consuming! I've tried using the boundary command but it doesn't recognise the enclosed area (perhaps because it's not fully enclosed because one of the corners doesn't quite join?). Any way CAD would be able to detect which corner doesn't quite join?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just started learning AutoCAD and came across my first obstacle I don't know how to work around. Here's what I'm trying to do.
I draw two lines and two circles and then trim the excessive parts as in the picture (in general it can be an area composed of various types of lines, straight lines, arc, and likely with rounded corners).
Then extrude to the height 2. This makes 4 surfaces (green). Now I build a solid 'around' the surfaces. In this example I draw a rectangle and extrude to the height 1 (red). And my question is: how do I remove the part of the solid that's enclosed within the green surfaces? Subtraction doesn't work as I don't subtract solid. Slicing doesn't work either as it's more than one surfaces. For the same reason I can't turn it into a solid.

Currently, when I'm converting architectural drawings into backgrounds for my use, one of the first things I do is select certain objects based on their layer and delete them en mass.
I'm using the QSelect dialog box at the moment, but that's really difficult. I would try writing a LISP or something, but I don't know of a command line version of the QS command to make it work.
Is there a way that I can select one object, and make it select all the other objects in the drawing that are on the same layer? The QS command is handy, but very tedious.
I have a drawing with a bunch of stuff on different layers. I want to be able to see the stuff on those layers but not select them. I know I can lock the layers but if I use a left crossing window to select objects it still grabs the stuff on the locked layer.
I could make a copy of all of it, move it to layer 0, freeze all the layers except 0, defpts, and the layer I am working on, then move the stuff to defpts and lock layer 0 and when I am all done delete everything on defpts and thaw everything.
In general, we can select the objects first and then run a command. I have a problem with this, autocad wont let this in my PC. If i select objects and run a command, autocad wont take the selection and prompts to select objects. I work on PC in a company connected to server, but the problem is only on my PC.

There is a major bug with CorelCAD LOFT command - when used with 3D polyline objects, it fails and errors out with the following error:
Specify cross-sections in lofting order»1 found, 2 totalSpecify cross-sections in lofting order»Selected cross-section is not a valid type.
The workaround is to set the CCS to the plane of the 3D polyline object and then use 2D polylines to recreate it, move the 2D version, delete the 3D version, Align the 2D version with where the 3D version came from and then repeat the LOFT command.

To repeat the error, see the test file. There are two radially aligned triangles in each set. The set on the left are 3D polyline. The set on the right are 2D polyline. Attempting to loft the set on the left will cause the error.
Both large and small triangles are respectively co-planar.
I've been having trouble selecting more than one object with the pointer. the program was just reloaded on the computer, but this problem has happened multiple times now. everything will work fine for a while, then suddenly, when trying to select objects during a command, i can only select one. (ex. trying to copy multiple lines, i can only select one to copy at a time).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of polylines that are all over a drawing from an outside source. Unfortunately the only unique properties about them are:
AREA = .14 sq in
PERIMETER = 1-11/32"
Everything is on the same layer, color by layer and are at the same elevation.
Any way to select just these closed polylnes? I tried quickselect but the AREA option did not work (it wouldn't except just the .14 value), and there is no apparent PERIMETER value to select.
I do not know what has changed but the select objects works differently now. For example, when 3 lines are drawn and the erase command is selected. I do a crossing window and the command line says 3 objects selected. But when I do it again and only select 2 lines, it says 2 objects selected and the 3rd line is then unselected. It used to say 2 objects selected and ignore but the total was 3.
