How to create dynamic block with array action in both X and Y direction? And I have some conditions there like number in horizontal and number in vertical directions, but on exact distance (like 5 elements on 20 cm).

I'm using a 2-2D recangles that are 5'x16" and 10'x16" and I am trying to figure out how to array this in one direction, to the left, but have the array on 5' increments. Also, within each rectangle I am needing text to show which size it is.
e.g. If I drag the array to the left more than 10' but less than 15' it will apply 15'.
I have a block of a roof screen. What i want to do is to stretch it & have the slats on the front & also the supports on the rear array @ different intervals. The slats on the front would array every 6-1/2" (The slats are 5-1/2" wide with a 1" gap). The supports array every 4'-0". I have tried to do this multiple ways with mixed results. How to get my desired outcome. I am enclosing my block.
View 5 Replies View Related i work at a small structural firm and am about the most experienced cad user here, which isn't saying much. I have never wrote any LISP's or anything, but have created many dynamic blocks and have edited some programing my boss got from a previous employee for adding dropdown menus with blocks/layers/etc. Just so you know my level of knowledge when it comes to answering my question. Also I am limited to using 2009 but other co-workers have up to 2013 so i would like this to work for all users. And i have done a bit of research but based on everyone elses level of knowledge am finding a lot of conflicting info and solutions that, to me, are in another language.
So I have a table that is created using polylines and text. It's a funky shape and AutoCAD's tables are a pain for it. i have created a dynamic block where i can array the rows down and the columns left. The issue is, i would like the test to come with each row, but still be editable once the block is done. I have figured out if row one is composed of 5 columns of text put into a single attribute, it is fine. But once you use the array action, to say 3 rows (including now 3 sets of attributes) they are not editable. So what is the work around, if there is indeed a work around?
the two option i see are to only array the rows and columns and left the text outside that block and manually copy it done to how ever many rows the user needs.... Or to have 2 blocks come in together, one as described before, and the other which just arrays the text and then i explode it to edit each line.. but then if you later choose to addd another line you would be left with doing that manually anyway..
So I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
I'm working on a drawing and I want an action to work on two diffrent dynamic blocks.
In my case, I wish to have two blocks that I can rotate by one rotation grip.
How do I manage to work this out?
I have a dynamic block (attached) for our single line schematics. It works great, but there's a piece missing. The text in the file (In / Out) I would like to have insert with the block, but it needs to be editable, so it can't really be PART of the block... if that makes sense.
If at all possible, I'd like to have the text array down when you stretch the block...
In the attached dwg, I have a dynamic block "Platform" which is used several times. I have an adjustable length, with the array set to repeat the toggles (end view of 2x4) every 2', not including the last 6". That works perfectly, except one thing. "Distance1" is the distance of the parameter, because this was the only way that I found to stop the array from showing up within 6" of the last toggle. When I insert "Platform," and click the arrow to stretch it, I can type in the distance desired minus 6", and I'll get the correct length of platform. However, I'd like to be able to type in the actual length, and have the array work appropriately (the same way it does now).
Then, I'd like to create a custom toolbar that has a button to click which will insert this platform and ask me what the length of the platform should be (the entire distance). After specifying an insertion point, the block will insert at the correct length, with the appropriate toggles.
Here's what I'd like to do with it: using datalink, I'd like to count the following: how many copies of each length of platform is in the drawing, with toggle count and length of platform specified. I have already figured out the datalink to get the value of "Distance1", it's only the issue with the toggle count that I'm trying to figure out.
I'm attempting to use Excel to take data from a drawing and give me purchase and cut lists.
I have successfully pulled the overall measurement from my dwg, and inserted it into a workbook. What I'd like to do now is to have a count of how many times the array function went into effect. For example, attached is a file containing a block called platform. When stretched, it inserts toggles every 2'. When I export the information from my dwg, I'd like for the program to not only extract the length, but how many toggles were inserted for each platform.
i'm trying to do a polar stretch and array for rigid insulation. RIGID2.dwg is my best option. but as you can see in the jpg, the first line should have arrayed already, because the gap is over 2". i tried to follow the instruction someone used for the clothes hangers URL.... and it resulted in RIGID.dwg, with the lines rotating off the main line.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a dynamic block for a schedule to satisfy an engineer's request. The intent is to insert this block with the text for the schedule, then array the rows for as many fixture type as we may need. Then copy the text down and edit as needed.
I've got the array set up, but when I drag the array, the first array increment shows up, but the row of the schedule does not. It is not until partway through the second increment that the row shows up, but it appears with a gap between the first and second row, so something is wrong with the offset or origin... I'm not sure.
On another post, distance needing to be set in the Array Action Properties and not just under the parameter. I don't understand where this is.
I am in the process of fixing one of our dynamic blocks. It's a fairly simple fix where there was a typo in one of the names of our items in the lookup that needed to be fixed.
I changed the name of the item in the lookup table. I went and did the test block and it seemed to work fine, but when I bring the block into a drawing, it reverts back to the old lookup as if I did nothing at all.
I made sure that the path was correct and I even just dragged and dropped straight from Windows Explorer to no avail.Does AutoCAD keep referring to the old block? Did I forget to change something else?
I'm trying to create a Dynamic Block of an 3/4" x 3/4" aluminium angle with holes:
Depending on the length the number of holes will vary.
The distance between each holes need to be somewhere between 8" and a maximum of 12".
The holes must be centered and start from 1 1/2" up to 2" from each ends.
Each distance must be not more precise then 1/16" (no rounded off dimensions)
I'd like to simply drag the handle of the linear parameters (No lookup or visibility for 2 hole, 3 holes, 4 holes etc.)
I need this block to do the following:
1. Move the right piece so it ends at 3', 4', & 5'.
2. the move right hook and 'backing' to stretch/copy (or array) so it adds a hook to the right and fills in the backing.
so this means that a 3' gets 4 hooks, 4' gets 5 hooks and 5' gets 6 hooks.
3. the block as shown is the smallest configuration with 3 hooks.
I could just set up a visibility and draw each one at it's appropriate length but I'm trying to keep this simple block to a min size. If all else fails, that's the route I'll take.
I've tried a couple different configurations and I keep getting duplicates or the end piece doesn't move the correct distance.
I have a block that when I extend it, a new 10' section is added. It will only add the 10' piece (array). What I am looking to do is find a way so that once I hit a total distance have it switch the part that it adds. So I have like a rail, I keep adding these 10' pieces and then once it hits 40' I want it to add the end piece which is different.

I would like to set up an array that would take the glass width, divide by 12, round up the value to get the number of vertical sections. Here's the code that I've figured out:

W=Width
GW=Glass width

I have a wipeout, which works fine on the array source, but when the array produces babies, it places them infront of everything (which is only logical), making the wipeout useless.
Can I set array babies to have the same draw order as their parent?

I've been trying to create a stair block that will automatically adjust the riser height to to suit the total vertical rise of the flight, but am having issues.
I drew two 'tread/riser' Plines, and constrained the daylights out of them. By stretching the grip for the 'Total Rise' constraint, the risers adjust nicely, while the treads remain at their desired 11" depth.
My problem is that when I try to create an array of the tread/riser, (using a linear parameter aligned with the slope of the stair) I can't get the 'column' width to change as the risers change height. Instead the value remains constant, and the arrayed copies don't connect with each other.
Any way either to fix this so that that the copies connect 'head-to-tail'?
Basically, I have a dynamic block with a distance parameter attached to an array command. The array command has a column distance of 30 inches between columns. I need to edit that distance. Is there a way to do it or do I have to start over? I have to start over, I might cry a little bit. There are a lot of other actions compounded on top of this one.
I'll attach the file, but if you edit it for me, how you did it so I'll know? Tech a man to fish and all that nonsense.
Oh, and I'm using 2012 vanilla AC, which has a different block editor than most other versions, so beware. Oh, and I don't use ribbons..
In my Project I build a static Block by inserting dynamic blocks from a template dwg and then explode them.
Actually I create a new Data Base, insert the blocks from my template, set the according Dynamic Properties, Explode the Block in the temp DB and then wblockclone the resulting Objects in my destination BlockTableRecord.
This works fine, but:
in my source dyn. block there is an associative surface defined by a Polyline(Rectangle) , attached a stretch action to change the size. I can set the Width parameter, after the Explode the polyline itself is updated, but the planar surface is not... so if I explode this block I get a well stretched Polyline and the "base" surface.
Manipulating the dynamic Block works fine... If I have stretched 3D-Meshes, they are ok as well. It seems to be something with the planar surface object.

I am attaching a rotate parameter and action to a dynamic block.
I get the "Specify base point" bit okay but I can't figure out what "Specify radius of parameter" does.
Do I have to include or exclude other parameters like Flip or Stretch? I get some weird results when I rotate an object with other parameters.
Is it possible to place the Grip in a specific place? It always seems to like to sit on top of another parameter name.
My vision is when someone inserts "block A", a promt will come up and ask "how many of "block A" do you need?" Based on how many you need, it will insert the block along with the arrayed amount the user has typed in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)
I am attaching my dynamic block that I am having difficulty finalizing. My goal is to be able to stretch or resize the hvac block, based on the size that is provided to me (ala 24x24, 36x36, 48x72, etc) (Stretch Action), I have that figured out, and I have the symbol in the center that stays centered as the block size changes, (Move Action).
Here is my problem, I want the symbol in the center to stay centered and scale based on a ratio as the overall size gets larger. So for example: if my size is a 24"x24" I want the symbol in the center to be approx 12" dia, but if the size gets up to say 60"x60" I want it to scale accordingly (so it could be like 48" dia), specifically maintaining the size based on the x axis, so if the it gets to a 60x72", I'd like it to still be centered but size according to the 60 width, and not stretch and look awkward. I want the center symbol to scale and stay centered in the rectangle as I scale the size.
I use dynamic blocks a lot of the time and most of them have a stretch action in them. What used to happen would be that whenever I clicked on the block I wanted to adjust and then clicked on the stretch action, it would show the distance from the base point and I was able to type in the new length of the object I was stretching. But now whenever I click on the stretch action, it shows that the current length is 0 and it is asking for the distance from the current point, not the base point. How can I change it so that it is always just the distance from the base point?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this simple dynamic block that is to change from 4" to 6" to 8" square. I have a linear parameter, 0 grips, and a Lookup function for 4, 6 or 8. It is supposed to scale about the midpoint (insertion point). I have tried both the Midpoint and Startpoint settings for Base Location but it always seems to scale from the far left of the Linear Parameter.
