AutoCad :: Dimensions On Print Not Aligned With Model / Object - All Is Well On Screen
Sep 5, 2012
Working in AutoCAD 2010. Recently I've started to notice that the dimensions on my print are not exactly aligned with the model/object. Only the dimensions seem to be shifted slightly in two directions (~1mm?). On screen, everything looks great.
Typically, I design 3d parts (model tab), then in the layout tab set up viewports (mview), and dimension in paper space...
Is there some paperspace offset I may have inadvertently invoked?
I was adding a lot of aligned dimensions to a drawing and some where along the way they changed from aligned dimensions to rotated dimensions, even in the same string of dimensions.
[URL] How is it possible that I place an aligned dimension between two paralel grids and the dimensions changes as I drag it up and down? First of all, in order to be able to place an aligned dimensions the objects have to be absolutely paralel to each other, so I don't get why when I move the dimension it changes. If the grids were really not paralel to each other Revit shouldn't allow me to place the aligned dimension in the first place, isn't that right?
I am trying to change the dimensions between windows with the 'aligned dimension' but when I click on the dimension it either tries to move the text or asks if I want to change the 'dimension text'
Why aligned dimensions won't work with the entire walls option when the selected wall and either adjacent wall meet at a non 90 degree corner? Seems screwy (non-intuitive) to me.
I have been reading here that the preferred mode of generating dimensions on the drawing views is by using "Retrieve" method.
My question is: how can I programatically add dimensions or measurements to the model so I can retrieve them in the drawing view? This has to be all done by code.
it slows me down to have to wait for the line to catch up with the dimensions showing up with a draw a simple line ,etc. IM sure its a simple options I accidentally selected.
I draw a detail 1 in model space and put dimensions on it say at a overall scale of 1.00, now I draw a detail 2 and change the overall scale to 5.00 and put dimensions on that detail but when I look at detail 1 all my dimension have changed to the 5.00 scale. Where I'm changing the scale is under the tab Format/Dim. Style/Modify/Fit/use overall scale of ..... How can I keep the dimensions from changing when I change the scale this way? I know it can be done because I've work on several dwgs. and changing the overall scale doesn't change on every detail in the model space.
I have made a 3D model of a frame for my work; when I try to add in the dimensions I cannot find the dimension between for example one horizontal line (in front view) and one vertical line. And sometimes when I manage to click on the two lines, it says "the lines are parallel".
I just tried to assemble my model and realized that I should make the dimension of the door 0.06" larger in order to become closed! It took me a week to complete this model, so I don't wanna redraw everything! How can I modify my model in CAD?
I'm looking for a solution to place the overall model dimensions in the title block.
We have a box (Promted entry) in our company title block were we manually typ our overall dimension of a part (or in some cases assembly).
For our planning engineer this is easy because he can easy see the dimensions of the "base material" or the size of a container / box in case of an assembly.
The risk that sometimes people forget to change these dimension when the model is changes.
Now I'm looking for a solution (e.g. VBA / iLogic) to place the overall dimensions Automatically in the title block.
The overall dimensions are available in the "BIM Exchange" menu > Check Design. Maybe these dimensions can be used.
I cannot seem to reset the print template screen while in the " Print " module. It has adopted the smallest pic size with three times the normal border. I wish to reset to full screen in print module
i am haveing trouble with a viewport that is hiding everything that crosses the rectangular border. The viewport is acting just like a wipeout would. I got this drawing from a client and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I checked to see if there was actually a frame with the viewport but when I select the viewport it only reads as one object.
Is it possible to use the Measure.ExtentsLength in a drawing to get model dimensions?
What I am trying to do is get the overall dimensions of the model and place them in a sketch block in the drawings so our machinist can easily reference the stock material. I can't figure out how to get the overall model dimensions.
I have a automated ilogic model that is then used within a 2D drawing, this 2D drawing then has dimensions on it referenced to the the model.
This model changes in its length the dimension associated with its length then changes but the dimension text then goes outside of the dimension boundary (does not stay central). Is there any code that can scan the dimensions and in effect tidy them up?
CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.
