View 9 RepliesI want to show only a few hidden lines in a drawing view.
I set the view to show hidden lines, then i attach a sketch to the view and project the hidden lines that i want.
But when i put back the view to hidden lines removed, the lines on the sketch disappear as well
I want to show one of the parts in a drawing of an assembly in hidden lines, it's a reference part only.

The model look like this :
And in the drawing I have some missing lines :
I tried to display the missing part in a separate drawing and it's OK.
I use Inventor 2011.
I saw some years ago a 3D drawing where hidden lines were dashed after hide command. I tried to find out, how it was made, but nothing. Today I need this solution, but I can't find information, how is it possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with the show hidden line command, because when used in the project I can see dashed lines and continuous lines. I was looking for how to manage the line pattern in this command but there is no way to do it.
See the attached image of my problem.
I'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
I'm using AutoCAD 2008.
how to set my origin point to a hole center. When you create the first ordinate dimension, you have to set the origin marker. For the upper view, I want to set the origin to be the same as the view below it. I can set it to the end of one of the hidden lines from the hole, but I can't seem to set the origin to the center of the hole.

How do i get rid of jagged lines?
Circles and diagonal lines look rubbish when i am in hidden view which i use for simple 3d black / white (i think this is the best way?).
I have tried:
- viewres (1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 sightly better)
- regen
See examples.

I have inv2014 , and im having a problem whenever i mirrored a part in assembly. A hidden dimension of a part always shows up after i mirrored it in assembly, and then i have to go to that part in assembly and turn off the visibility of that sketch/dim.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the attached part, I am trying to show a hole drilled at a compound angle. I have attached a pic of what the part is supposed to look like. I am having trouble laying out the plane on a compound angle. The hole should be centered on the width of the flat and drilled through. 15° angle one way and 20° another way.
The ipt file attached is really messy in attemps to acheive the compound angle.

I have modeled a storage pond on my site and I have the existing surface hidden for the extent of the pond.
Is there a way to make that hidden existing surface, show up on the profile view?
I have attached images to better explain myself.
I am working in C3D 2012.
I still trying to get 2012 to configured like our previous version. Howcver, I noticed something odd. In several of our drawings I covered some objects with a wipeout. I then sent to the dwg to pdf driver, then printed the pdf. On screen the objects are covered, in the pdf on screen the objects are covered, but in the actual print from the pdf some of the objects are faintly visible. with the previous 2010 version of AC we used. The files are the same and the printer is the same.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD Plant 3D 2012 and working with the P&ID portion of the software. I created a block (to represent insulation with electric heat tracing) with multiple lines using multiple settings. All of the lines are on layer 0, the line weight is set to by layer. All of the lines have a linetype of by layer except one line which I need to be hidden. This block appears correctly on my screen, but when I print, the hidden line prints continuous.
My brain is exhausted and I think this is just a setting somewhere I can not seem to locate.
2d simple circle... I would like to define a circle using hidden lines. I also would like to have the hidden lines extend passed the circle by .25 of an in. I would also like to define the center of the circle aesthetically rather than just draw these hidden lines in.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmaybe I was dreaming. Maybe I've gone round the bend. I seem to remember somewhere a check box that would show hidden lines in paperspace viewports. For instance, a through hole, or a cavity in something.
Been a while since I've done much besides architectural drawing, so maybe I'm hallucinating.
I also distinctly remember the monochrome plot style always printing in black and white, even in a PDF. Today, the objects in modelspace are in color, and anything in paper space is black and white.
What is up with that? I must be missing something obvious, because I've screwed around with this for an hour and can't figure out what I've done to cause this.
I need hidden lines in my drawings for the shop floor and the pictures below is the problem. It shows the hidden lines in the veiwport in paper layout but when I print preview or print i does not show them at all. windows 7 autocad 2007.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm opening a drawing created in AutoCAD 2008, which is plotting hidden arcs as solid lines. Straight hidden lines are dashed as normal. I've attached both the paperspace view and the plot preview to show what I mean. The outer radius is showing as dashed in paperspace view, but appears as a solid line when plotted. The straight line leading to it is dashed in both views.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an existing DWG and am adding FDO layers. I have styled the FDO data and given it bright colors so it is easy to see, but no styling is taking effect and the data is hidden. I can select by clicking on records in the show data table menu found by right-clicking on the FDO layers in the task pane.
If I create a new DWG I am able to see this data so the problem appears to be local to this DWG. I also tried copying this data set into a new DWG and the problem persists.
What I'm looking to do is show the hidden lines blocked by a part in a plan view but not all of the hidden lines. Ie. I have a top view showing a clearance. If I turn on that clearance a portion of the original part is not viewed. When I turn on hidden lines I now see every hidden detail of that part (I didn't turn on hidden lines for the entire drawing). I then have to eliminate all the lines I don't want which is both tedious and cumbersome. Is there a way to turn on just the lines hidden by a particular object but not all the hidden lines of the part.

i've got this snowboard rack that i need to layout/markup with some #8 machine screw holes (with countersink for tapered wood screw head) - two on the end of each stretcher to fasten them to the uprights - 8 in total. I also want to layout 8 more holes on the stretchers themselves. I've got some center holes marked in the sketches..but they're not visible when i activate the hole feature so i can properly place the holes?
why i can't extrude the 4 spacers i've got sketched on the back of the stretchers into a solid . . . . i can only cut?
I was wondering is there a way to have a hole dimension with multiple leader lines. Using Inventor 2011
