I'd like to know how to draw windows' shadows on the floor. It's not important for me to get a good work in Autocad because I'm going to draw the whole stuff on paper with pencils.
I just want to understand how do shadows change during the day ( dawn, noon, sunset ) and get their measures.
I mean something like that

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've always layout my floor plans three dimensional with the tools pallets commands such as walls, rails, door, windows & ect. I always have my walls pre-hatched with the solid pattern which is really effective to the floor plan. Normally when I put windows in the wall the window is clearly shown without the hatch in the wall but for some reason my wall's hatch started covering the windows and I can't seem to solve this problem.

I can not select the walls and windows on the floor plan, but can select everything else like the dim,text, section marks, etc.
I also can choose the walls of the first floor, if they are used as the underlay of the second floor. However, when I am in the first floor plan view, I can not.
How to solve this problem of 'Flattening a large 3d model (hospital ground floor) to a 2d floor plan drawing'. The 3d model was made in Rhino and I saved it as a .dwg file because Rhino kept crashing with the command 'make 2d' (file too large maybe :/).
I don't know AutoCAD 3d so now, I'm trying to just change the line layers and eventually plot it all, but sometimes when I save the progress.... AutoCAD will delete sections of my work sometimes :/
Is there a way to get roof beams/windows/etc to show as dash-dot in floor plan without having to make changes in every family or for every new object?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I select the doors I want to use for my floor plan I can't see the picture of the door that I selected before and after I place it onto a wall, when you usually can. You can only see it on symmetric view, but not in a floor plan bird view, all you see is a gap in the wall (looks like the wall is split into two separate pieces). This only occurs for the doors, the rest of the design tools, I can see their pictures before and after, on the floor plan. I think maybe changed some settings, I'm not use. Maybe there is a way to set everything to deafult settings?

Are there any common tools specialized on this issue?
Or would it make sense to build for e.g. a VBA tool to support the CAD technician for repetitive tasks, like extrusions, in order to goal 3D, without having to draw everything (new) from scratch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe're using a precise level to as-built and create a dtm of a floor. The client would like us to assess the dtm for changes of grade greater than 3mm over 3m. (The test is based on walking around the floor with a 3m straight edge and 3mm blocks - see Figure 6 in this paper .)
Please note that the floor could be laid on a slope and still comply - it's the grade changes we're looking for. And some of these floors are large so we'd prefer make it as automatic as possible.
As far as I know there's no surface style that can display grade changes. We can shade each triangle by slope, but it will still require manual visual inspection to see if adjacent triangles are sufficiently similar to comply.
I am currently drawing plan/elevations of a bathroom and I want to tile the walls and floor.
Is there a quick way to tile a specified area? I know about copying a tile and then copying groups of tiles etc. I have even tried hatching the area with a tile pattern but you cannot edit each tile this way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with architectural floor plans in AutoCAD 2013 trying to get all of the room name / number annotations uniform. The drawing is a compilation of a many different drawings created by different architects at different times, so the room numbers are not the same size.
I have all of the room names on their own layer and all of the room numbers on their own layer. Each name / number is a block. Is there a way for me to easily get all of the text the same size? So far the only way I have figured out to do this is using the "scale" function on each individual text block, this is not ideal as there are thousands of rooms...
Implemented a CAD viewing station on the shop floor for the shop guys to use to view and measure the 3D CAD models? If so what did you use for software and how did it work?
The reason I ask is because we get into a lot of scenarios where a builder needs to see how something goes together in a machine or needs a distance between 2 parts or sub assemblies to work with set while they are assembling the machine. So instead of them stopping what they are doing walking up to the design department locating the design (now stopping him in what he is doing) and asking him to open the file for viewing or a distance they would be able to do it right on the floor.
I am thinking of making .DWFs of our main assembly IAMs and using a laptop with Autodesk Design Review to open them on the shop floor for the measuring and viewing.

I have created room tags and would like to use the floor plan (with room names) as Xref. Is there a way I can locate the room names in one location per room on the main floor plan and then relocate the room names on the reflected ceiling plan and NOT move the room name on the main floor plan?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to verify the actual area of a floor plan however when I "list" the polyline of the floor plan, I am getting two different figure when opened in Autocad 2012 and LT 2011. For instance, the area calculated in autocad 2012 is 900sqm vs LT 2011 is 850sqm.
It is only for this particular file that has this discrepancy. Other files I have tried gave the same area between the two versions. We have the setting setup as the same in terms of units etc.
I am currently trying to figure out how to use ACA 2012.
A client wants me to add flooring zones to a few sets but I cannot get them to print in color. I assume I do this from my pen assignment but I cannot figure out what colors they are to change them.
I do my zones by using Home>"under build" space>from the properties I click Zone 0-15>polygon and then I trace the rooms. Then it fills the room with a preassigned color. How Can i figure out what colors they are using so I can edit my pen setting or is there an easier way to print zones in color and the rest in B&W?
Any information about using the floor command within iLogic. i have written the rule ok and it does not come up with an error. However the rule doesn't actually activate, as the component pattern it is set to gives it 7.6 ul. Inventor then automatically rounds this up, the floor rule should counteract this but does not.
