View 3 RepliesI am making a design on inventor 2013 for a colleague who does not know how to use the inventor.
I want to make the solid and then set something up that allows the user to change a few of the parameters of the solid in a very user friendly way (i.e. a box that says "cylinder radius" and has an input box so the user can enter a value).
I need to know how to make a solid from various surfaces. For example, making an exploded box back into a solid. I can't simply loft the surfaces because the problem I'm working on is far more complex-- it is a submarine defined by surfaces, but I need it all to be one solid.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the following problem: I have loads of lines in 3D, some longer, some very short. With PE i can join them using fuzz, but since some lines are next to another line then it tends to make the line go back and forth in some places. What i want to do is somehow make an average line from all the other lines.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I modify a 3D solid and it is left with two seperate pieces it is still one solid piece, even though there are two parts. My question is: What if only need one of those two sides? If I explode the object and delete the one side I cannot change the remaining object into a 3D solid. It remains as surface object.
How can make an object into a 3D solid after exploding it? I belive there is a simple command like union or some other but I can't remember.
Is there a way to get that long tube and that rectangular part all around that middle circle.

Open this picture. In the end it would end up looking something like that lamp shade. I got one part down so is there a way to get a bunch of those around instead of redrawing it?
Some of objects that I draw have partly hidden lines. Basically I can create two lines and then set one to be solid and the other one to be hidden. But may I know any faster way to do that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to make a vertical or horizontal section plane of 3d solid leaving the rest of it like a solid?
Often I need to do pretty much complex view in which the same solid should be sectioned for half part of it and be solid for the rest. It is a common way to present solid draw but I can't do it with autocad 2013.
I just started with Autocad and I got a problem with creating a solid. The file is attached and as you can see I managed to make the form as a Mesh but from that point I can't convert it to a solid.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project, and I need to make this collection of surfaces into a single solid object. I tried using sculpt, and after a few hours of trying to find the leak, I have failed. not watertight.
Also, I need to get this thing to a cnc mill, and they keep asking me for 2d drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. I assumed the 3d file would be good enough. How to make a file ready for a cnc, and how to make 2d drawings without putting 600 measurements all over the image? Every time I try to do a 2d object, the whole thing is a mess.
I'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do some pixel art, and whenever I use a tool that isn't just the pencil tool, it makes its own weird shading along my selection. Like, if I make a diagonal line with black, fills in random gray above and below the line between the two points I click. Or if I make a non filled circle, it fills in shading around the edges. All this is with one pixel thickness How do I just make it the color I've picked from the color picker without any extra color interpolations along the way?

View 4 Replies View RelatedBelow is a logo that I scanned form a logo designs book. The grey area needs to be solid black.
I can use the trace feature on CorelDraw. However, the trace feature does not outline the artwork very well.
Is there some way I can make the logo below solid black and solid white without having to sketch the whole thing using features like trim and nodes?
It may be that the trim feature and the nodes feature is about the only way to make the artwork really good and sharp.
Is it possible to Convert a Solid Work's file to Inventor?
(I can get the file to open, but when I go to edit there is no model to see, yet there is the model in the drop down menu and get this error message.)

Alright here's the problem, after reading extensively and watching many videos, I finally learned how to crop and layer , which is ridiculously easy! But now I can't get the line/curve tool to make solid connections.
Green Circle: Where the lines meet end to end
Red Circle: Where the lines overlap
Blue Circle: Where I crossed lines perpendicularly in example of what's going wrong.
I am trying to make a shape made from the blob tool made into hafltones. I do not want it as a gradient, just equal sized halftones throughout the shape. Is this possible?
When I do it using Effects/pixilate/color haltone it makes multiple colored halftones, whereas I just want one color. And when I change the channel's it comes up with similar results.
I am importing solidworks assembly files into AutoCAD 2014. They show up fine after importing them. It says the assembly is in inches but when i go into the individual parts blocks they are all 25.4 scale. Is there a way to not have all the parts scaled up when it is imported?

The include all surfaces feature is check but still doesnt show all the surfaces. I just recently imported a IGES file as a soild part but i do not rememeber how i did it. View 9 Replies View RelatedI've created a tie-on-cable marker tag using Loft, Replace Face and Split techniques. After splitting, I turn off the visibility of one of the two resulting solid bodies. File A208P03_Label.jpg shows the results with solid body Solid2 visibility either on or off.
The cable marker tag is then used in an assembly file shown in MI-CA-0261.iam.jpg and a drawing file shown in MI-CA-0261.idw.jpg. The problem I have is that Solid2 is showing up in the idw drawing file when I'd rather it's visibility be off as in the .iam assembly file.
I'm editing a solid body part file.
I've made all sketches and workplanes etc not visible.
When i edit a sketch down the tree, obviously the sketch becomes visible but the problem I have is some other sketches and workplanes also become visible.
