AutoCAD Architecture :: Large Symbol At Smaller Scale Drawing?
May 4, 2013I am not sure whether this involves annotative block.
My RCP at 1/8" scale looks okay. Yet in my 1"=10'0" POT plan,
I would like these exit lights/signages to appear double in size when printed,
(since POT is merely a schematic)
From 1/8" scale to 10' scale (96 to 120), the symbols by logic should appear
80% smaller, not larger.
Can this be done with annotative block?

Mar 20, 2012How to make the dimension get bigger and smaller as we “scale” the drawing?
For example, the drawing in the screenshot below is scaled by 0.5 but that didn’t affect the “size” of the dimension (height of the text, extension lines, …).
Is there a way to get the dimension line affected as we scale the drawing such that the “dimension text” and the “extension line” are increased/ decreased with the scale factor?
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),
Firefox 20.0,
Kaspersky 2013.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Scale Command Message - Extremely Small Scale Factor Ignored
Apr 13, 2012I have just updated to Autocad 2013. While working on existing drawings (previously created in V2012), I am having issues with the SCALE command. Most times, but not always, when I add a line or block, with a base point on an existing line or object and try to scale it, I get an "extremely small scale factor ignored" message, although I did not get a chance to enter a scale factor. While it appears most times, but not always, if I draw a new line in empty space on that same drawing, I am able to use the SCALE command without problems. I also have the same issue when trying to scale an existing line or block, most times but not always.
Here is a copy of the command line while I am trying to make it work:

If you notice, it does not give me the chance to enter a scale factor. As soon as I pick the base point, it skips over to the error message, yet displays the scale factor prompt with a blank factor. I'm experiencing this issue on various files (not all but most), so I don't think it is a corrupt file. Why I get this and if I can correct it?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom Linetypes - Text Extremely Large When Copied To Drawing
Mar 12, 2012I created some custom linetypes. When I copied them over to my drawing, the text in the linetypes came in extemely large. I really need to get this figured out as I am setting up a template for a new customer, and they want all these included.

May 21, 2012I have imported some auto cad files from a software named arcgis 10. The files are opening perfectly. But when I 'am importing the boundary on those files , the scale/size of the boundary is too large. Is there any option in autocad by which we can reduce the scale as per rest of the layers.

Jul 14, 2011I have a dynamic block that contains both geometry as well as text. I don't want the geometry to scale up based on the drawing scale but I do want the text to scle according to the drawing scale. I have tried making the text both annotative and non-annotative in the block and get the same result. I can get the text to scale properly if I make the entire block annotative but that also scales the geometry which is not accurate.

Sep 19, 2012It doesnt matter what i do. when i try to scale any object from larger to smaler, even when its on a group. it deforms the positon of the ancor points i think its a bug. because it doesnt matter what i do whit the configuration, its still bothering to the point that is really unconfortable to work.

Jun 27, 2013When I open a new drawing in my AutoCAD 2013 that I just recently installed last week, I encounter a problem that I am not familiar with from previus versions of AutoCAD I have worked on. First of all, the units default to decimal, and I want them to default to architectural, with feet and inches. I have to type UNITS in the command line every time I open a new drawing in order to adjust this. I have AutoCAD for Architecture 2012 on another computer, and the program automatically defaults to architectural units upon opening up. Just to let you know, the program I am having this difficulty with is part of a package called Autodesk Building Design Suite 2013. I was under the impression that it included AutoCAd for Architecture, but I think it has only standard AutoCAD.
The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion. What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0" line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum. I should be able to see the object in it's entirety. In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12" long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length. I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0", but nothing is working.

Jul 8, 2004I am having some problems getting the hang of applying the drawing scale to my assignment. I understand the scale factor that is applicable to the printing only and that AutoCAD doesn't care about the units used...but something is not clicking here and I'm sure it is pretty simple. My assignment requires me to draw 3 simple structures at 1/8" scale on 11X17 paper. Each house is 20' long with 10' walls and each is done in absolute, relative, and polar. I actually completed the work with all 3 formats without specifying the scale or paper size, just to get familiar with the commands. But now that I am trying to set the dimensions correctly, I cannot replicate my work because I'm getting lost in the way things are defined. I am using AutoCAD 2005, also have a 2002 version to which I can defer.

Each of these smaller drawings would be based on a rough 20 metre buffer of the property boundaries inside it. Each drawing created would preferably be the expression of the House number + Street name, which are in each property boundary parcel as object data. What I have been doing in the past is attaching and querying the required drawing one by one but this takes a while and we are about to get a whole shed load more to be done.

Changing it back to East Asian solves the problem, but then again, I want to use the Middle Eastern feature...
When I use Illustrator CS6 I don't have such problems (although I have to write backwards, since there is no support for right-to-left in Illustrator in my version)

Nov 26, 2012I've made a sketch in Photoshop Elements. The resolution was 743 by 663 pixels. I'm wanting to finish this in Illustrator, but when I open the same file (I have tried both PNG and PSD so far with the same results) in Illustrator, the image is extremely small, yet it says it is zoomed in 100%. In order for me to draw on this, it needs to be the same size that it looked like when it was opened in Photoshop. I understand the image is not actually resized, but the scale makes it appear smaller. And I also understand that illustrator's "pixels" measurments are incorrect (or so I have been told and observed).
I attempted simply rescaling the image myself with the select tool, but unfortunately I lose resolution and some of my sketch lines when I do this.
I'm not a master at any of these programs, so if you have an answer to how I could get the image scale to be "normal,".

May 19, 2008I've been having a problem with making a text box in photoshop.. Everything used to work okay but now the text is REALLY small when I type in the box.. Like you can barely see it. If I make it 400 font it looks finally visible but barely...
Its the same thing no matter which font I choose. My document size is only 1000x500 so its really weird.. Plus I didn't have this problem before, but now I do, everytime photoshop loads its the same thing. How do I fix this strange issue?

Sep 29, 2011I am currently working on making a map out of a satellite image. I am stuck trying to figure out how to get text to be small enough to be legible. I have cropped and resized the original image, It is 137x224 @ 72ppi. I want the text smaller, I think I cant get enough definition because the pixels are huge, text size 7 and under becomes like 6 squares per letter and there is no definition.
The same effect is keeping me from getting well defined and sharp lines. I try to stroke a path and the line looks like a row of squares instead of a line.

Nov 29, 2007I would like to make the dimension text smaller so that the information doesn't become so crowded. I notice that the dimensions are written like 12' - 10 3/4", with a space between the ' and the - and a space between the - and the 10, rather than 12'-10 3/4", like an old-fashioned person like me would write. Is there a way to control that? I looked into the dimension edit dialog box & couldn't see a way. AutoCAD writes them like I like.

Feb 27, 2011I get PDF's of A1 drawings all the time some hand drawn (Paper and pencil how primative lol) that I would like to add to but when I attach the pfd's I seem to have problems with the PDF drawing being blurred, If I zoom in on the PDF drawing in model space I can get it to become clear, but when in paper space it isnt clear even when it is scaled to the correct size of A1.
Is there a correct way of inserting the pdf in the first place ? (ie scale etc that I should be doing )

Nov 14, 2013just done a job for a client and when they get them printed they are not to scale (slightly smaller), i have checked my drawing and it is scaled correctly. i plot to a pdf and the client gets the pdf printed locally. when i print i print to extents and plot centred. i also sent a shopfit drawing from another company using the same method except their drawing was set to plot the layout, their drawing plotted correctly to scale so i am wondering now if plotting to extents is the cause of the problem?
