AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Sheet Setup - Rename / Renumber Additional Field
Dec 27, 2013
How to add the sheet description field into the rename & renumber window? I ask this because during the sheet set-up process we use the sheet description often, and I would like to go from sheet to sheet without having to right click and edit every sheet.

The Field dialog box has an item for CurrentSheetNumber with field expression: %<AcSm Sheet.Number>%
Is it possible to create a Field to display the Next Sheet Number (CurrentSheetNumber + 1) and a Field to display the Previous Sheet Number (CurrentSheetNumber - 1)?

Is there a system variable that disable the "Rename and Renumber Sheet" dialogue box from appearing when double clicking on layout tab of current drawing which is part of sheet set?
I used to be able to just double click on a layout tab and change it. This dialogue box can't seem to edit it if the drawing is open. We use the layout the tab as current revision of drawing.
I know I accidentally click on yes before when it asked me if I want to use the dialogue box to edit layout tabs but can't seem to find anything on how to disable it.

I've been twigging around with a selectionset, but no luck. I need to build a ss with several named blocks and a few dynamic blocks which get selected as anonymous. Unfortunately not all dynamic blocks should be selected and I can find no way of either filtering out a list of dynamic blocks to exclude nor any way to campare to a list of dynamic blocks that I want selected. Below is the best idea that I had but if I wrap it into a foreach with an exclusion list, I get an empty selection set returned. (I'm guessing that I need to trim the pairs each iteration and only return the matches instead.)
(SETQ blklst (LIST "Cleaner" "DRAIN" "Return" "Therapy""PoolLight" "Paraleveler" "Waterleveler" "Skimmer" "UMSLEEVE") blst "Cleaner, DRAIN, Return, Therapy,PoolLight,Paraleveler,Waterleveler,Skimmer,UMSLEEVE")(IF (AND (SETQ ss (SSGET "x" (LIST '(0 . "INSERT") (CONS 2 (STRCAT "`*U*" blst)) '(410 . "Model")))) (FOREACH i blklst (MAPCAR '(LAMBDA (x)(IF (NOT (EQ i (VLA-GET-EFFECTIVENAME (VLAX-ENAME->VLA-OBJECT (CADR x)))))(SSDEL (CADR x) ss) ) ) (SSNAMEX ss)) ) ) (WHILE (SETQ Ent (SSNAME ss 0)) (SETQ BlkName (CDR (ASSOC 2 (ENTGET Ent)))) (IF(SETQ tempList (ASSOC BlkName EndList)) (SETQ EndList (SUBST (CONS BlkName (1+ (CDR tempList))) tempList EndList))(SETQ EndList (CONS (CONS BlkName 1) EndList)) ) (SSDEL Ent ss) ))
The other code is long and I'd rather not confuse things; if I do not try to filter out any Unames, then everything works great and fast. Once I add in the "foreach i blklst" the code breaks and I get:
; error: null interface pointer: #<VLA-OBJECT 0000000000000000>
returned.

I need to save an additional copy of a AutoCAD drawing whenever I press the save button.
Simply put, Every time I press save the autocad drawing is saved (Obviously!!!) but
I also need to save an exact copy of the drawing in a folder called (for eample only) "C:TestFolder"
I can do this using DxfOut for dxf files but I need to do this for dwg files.
Can it be done whenever I press the "save" button.

I would like to update a CUIX and rename it, both the file name and the internal customization group name/description. The main issue is that the associated MNL file will fail to load after the renaming.
The internal name is currently the same as the file name with spaces replaced by underscores.
I have tried the CUIX transfer method, I have tried simply renaming the file and leaving the internal name alone, I have also tried renaming to .ZIP, and modifying the one file inside that contains the internal name/description, recompiling the ZIP and renaming back to CUIX.
As stated above, using any of the above methods the main issue is that the associated MNL file will fail to load. This is with Civil 3D 2014. Also the customization group name may appear in the CUILOAD dialog without underscores and depending on the method the ribbon tabs will not even appear.
I've also noted that the MNL file associated with the partial CUIX loads twice in Civil 3D 2014 and only once in AutoCAD 2013. I haven't done further testing on that.
This is mainly cosmetic as our current CUIX has 2011 in the name and I would like to update to 2014.

I am looking for a lisp that will rename all the layouts automatically. I tried the Layoutlist function but the output is not in order. Is there anyway that i can get all the layouts in a drawing from left to right order. for eg. i have layouts from layout1, layout 2........layout10). The layoutlist returns as layout1,layout10 etc...instead of layout 1 layout 2.

what i would like to do is rename (externally) and repath about 4-8 xrefs in a drawing set of about 100 drawings.
you may ask why? it is because we are trying to establish a template set of drawings for a civil design office. and when we start a new project, copy over the drawings to the relevant project folder, change the project number, run the script across the drawings and go from there. I've also tried this using the reference manager, but it doesn't work when you change the name of the xrefs (loses association)
basically i know if i could use a lisp i would run it using autoscript or something equal. All i need is to figure out the code to change the project number in the xref
for example
current - "xxxx-PN009999-aaa-00-survey.dwg"
change to - "xxxx-PN001234-aaa-00-survey.dwg"
from my research so far, the easiest way is to make a lisp with the following
-rename
b
xxxx-PN009999-aaa-00-survey
xxxx-PN001234-aaa-00-survey
-xref
p
xxxx-PN001234-aaa-00-survey
c:acadcivildummyfolderxref
If this is the correct code, do i have to rename the CAD xref files in explorer first?

I have to batchplot a lot of drawings but before that i need to rename a block in every drawing. I want to get from ABC 123 to ABC_123.
this is my code right now for the part to rename the block.
(princ "-rename
" File#1)
(princ "b
" File#1)
(princ "ABC 123
" File#1) <---- here i get the problem.
(princ "ABC_123
" File#1)
This comes in the prompt:
Command: -rename
Enter object type to rename
[Block/Dimstyle/LAyer/LType/Material/multileadeRstyle/Style/Tablestyle/Ucs/VIew/
VPort]: b
Enter old block name: ABC
Cannot find block "ABC".
How do i include space and 123 in the princ?
I am using map3D 2012.

I have 30 blocks per drawing about 60 drawings. Each block starts with the jobname has other block info and then the block type. For example
Bldg31-MechEquip_ABC
Bldg33-MechText_DEF
Bldg45-ElecEquip_GHI
I want the output to be just ABC, DEF, and GHI.
I have a rename script but I dont know where to go from here. How can I tell it to remove everything up and including the "_" symbol?

I am currently using a field for my elevation tags. The field reads the y-value of a line and displays the results as the elevation. Our local jurisdiction requires that we list elevations from above grade (A.G.L.) as well as from bottom of base plate. The difference is usually 6"-12".
I was wondering if I could create another field that would read the same y-value of a line, but then subtract a predetermined value (6") and display the results.
Currently we have to do the math ourselves and this leaves room for errors and is often very tedious.

I'm new to working with scripts and have played with it a little bit but my knowledge is severly lacking, I picked up script pro and have had some success batching simple commands.
What I have is a large database with differing layer convensions that I want be able to run a script that will open rename layers save and close, the layers are not of the same name but similar enough that I could set peramiters for less then a duzon layer names and catch my target then rename it to a standard, for example "A-wall exterior" to "A-WL-EXT", a simple enough command but within the database the "A-wall exterior" could be one of a duzon simmilar names.
My thought was to run the -rename la "layername" "layername" qsave script but when the original layer is not found it gets stuck untill script pro times out and fails. If there is some way to search out names and once found rename that would work.

I need to do three things in a LISP routine for around 200 drawings. First, I need rename lots of old layer to new standard layer name, like change layer name "CL-RAILWAY-0" to new layer name "CL-0".
Secondly, I need translate some layer to standard layer, like all the things on layer "CL-WATER-160" to layer "CL-0"
Last, change some linetype, like change linetype"CENTER" to "CENTERLINE". I can do all those things by "CHECKSTANDARD" manually, but I really need someway faster and easier.

I created a block, that uses the Y coordinate of the block and returns it's location in a field.
I would like to be able to indicate weather the value is negative or positive. If Y coordinate is less then 0, then the field indicates "-" in front of the value. But if the Y coordinate is positive, I couldn't find a way to place "+"symbol in front.
Is there any way I could introduce a conditional statement saying: if Y>0 then add "+" in front?

I had a routine that extracted field values from text and atts, but noticed this morning it did not work on fields from sheets sets.
I looked at the code and realized if a field formula is beyond 256 chars, the dxf codes store it in multiple groups.
Here is the revised code that deals with thos multiple groups (3 and then 2):
;GET LIST OF TEXT AND FIELDS FOR A GIVEN TEXT;RETURNS ("PLOTTED BY " "%<\AcVar Login \f "%tc4">%" " DATE" ...);FIELDS START AND END WITH WITH %< >%;(TXT-FIELDS-SEPARATED (car (Nentsel " Select Text, MText or Attribute: "))) (DEFUN TXT-FIELDS-SEPARATED (ENAME

Is there any way to grab the Object ID or name from a layout tab to use in a field? I wish to link the layout name to a callout block so that if the layout tab changes position and name (inserting a new tab), the call out block will update no matter what page it is on. Without using the Sheet Set manager.

We use Sheet Set Manager fields to keep track of section cuts and details and such.Users are asking me if they can get only the last 4 digits of the sheet number to show up on the section cuts.
Is there a way to parse or truncate a field in the formula area of the field dialog box?I'm familiar with LISP and DIESEL but the file dialog box / formula area does not seem to accept those functions. Will it take a .NET function? If so, what? Or, is there another option I'm overlooking?

We use multi-leader objects in our drawings. When the multi-leader and its value are to be replicated throughout the drawing, we create mleaders with fields that show the contents of the first mleader. That way we can update only the value in the first mleader and all of its children will update as well. It works nicely for us.
Here comes one snag. If one of us opens a drawing with which we are not intimately familiar, we don't know which mleader is the parent of which children. There might be fifty parents and four hundred children in a drawing so going through them by hand is a big productivity drain.
What I need to do is write a routine that will let the user select the mleader that includes the field and have the routine highlight and/or zoom to the parent object.
I thought I should be able to find that info in the dxf codes for the mleader, but I am either missing it or it's not there.

I am trying to put a field formula in an attribute value. Basically I have a block that has a attribute called QTY and it is equal to 1. I can get the object property to equal 1 with this expression:
%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%
The expression above will show a value equal to 1 (as I would expect)
Lets say I have two blocks now and I have the lisp routine combine the field values to get the expression below.
%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%+%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%
In the attribute dialog box it will show 1+1 instead of 2. My question is how do I get it to show 2 with out opening the formula box and evaluating it?
I have also tried.
%<AcExpr(%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%)+(%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%)>%
and
%<AcExpr((%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%)+(%<AcObjProp Object(%<\_ObjId #########>%).Textstring>%))>%

I found a lisp routine on the internet to change page setups on multiple layouts. The lisp worked but on some of the layouts it moved the viewport off the paper background (see attached). The layouts print fine but the only way to get the viewport back on to the background is to open the page setup and click modify, then ok and close. I tested this on a .dwg that I had saved to my computer rather than on one in the main folder but I would like to do this to to all are maps since our IT decided to rename our printer and now all pages setups are no good. All I know about lisp is how to run one.

I am working on a large project where a 3rd Party firm has turned over 100s of drawings that we need to get into our system. The problem is that they did not name their physical files properly. We have a particular numbering system for our drawings, the engineering firm did fill in our attributed title block properly and used our numbering system correctly within the drawing. However, their physical file name follows their format. We need to have the physical file name match the information in the title block to get into our system.
Is there a way to "Batch Rename" these files by reaching into the title block and then renaming the physical file to match the attribute?
I have to be honest, I may use AutoCAD 50 to 60 hours per week, but I am no programmer! I am just the go-to person here for AutoCAD whom is stuck trying to come up with a efficient solution for the project team whose engineering firm could not follow our procedures! I was hoping some sort of batch routine could take care of this problem for us instead of us having to individually rename each physical file one by one.
