My task is to write an automated routine that checks for a certain classification added to Duct objects.
In the classification definition SfB all classification names of the form (XX)X should be altered/renamed to the form XX.X
Defining a Classification object Classfc as Autodesk.Aec.DatabaseServices.Classification my problem is that the property Classfc.Name is readonly.
I need to rename some nodes in a classification tree but I keep on getting the exception.message "eInvalidInput" from the exception.source Acdbmgd.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a logo that I am working with and I need to make it a 3D object for what I'm doing in After Effects. I am trying to make it 3D so I can edit it in repousse because all I really need to do is extrude it.
I've tried the different options in the 3D drop down menu but none of them bring me to edit in repousse.
Also, I know that I can make it 3D in After Effects my making multiples of it and what not but I don't want to go about it that way. Also, I'm working with CS5.5 and the 3D renderer plugin in After Effects is only available in CS6.
I have several LAS files that I have brought into AutoCAD and created PCG point cloud files. You have the option to assign Civil3D properties so I assign the LAS classification properties but they don't apply to the file.
The classification style seems to work with the ISD file extension in Civil3D, but do the LAS classifications not work for the PCG format?? I can only view the PCG file by single color or by elevation range, not by classification.
I'm try to set a classification for a list of objects with .net. I'va found some discussions regarding changing and iterating classification trees, but none setting the classification for entites, similar to selecting a classification in ui.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to build a map of the world that includes provinces and sub-provinces (counties). I will be animating it in AE. AE only sees the top layers so it is imparative that the name of the top layer corresponds the the correct province. Unfortunately all the provinces are not layers. They are objects. I can use the "Release to Layers" command to get all objects nested into top level layers. But the top level layers have generic names (Layer 1, Layer2, Layer 3). The objects nested within these layers have the correct name.
Is there a script that will rename the top level layer using the name given to the object nested within that layer? If not, how to create one?

The CADdesigners have asked me if i can make a function that runs through our AutoCAD 2012 MEP model attaching certain predefined classification definitions to ducts, pipes, MVparts etc.
I have used hours searcing for examples / tutorials on how to connect to the MEP objects not finding what i need.
Is there a function in AutoCAD that lets you edit the dimensions of an existing object on fly like there is in Vectorworks.I have included an attachment of a vectorworks screen dump to explain what I'm asking. In the screen dump you can see a Rectangle is already drawn with the measurements of 1800,900 mm. This can be changed in Vectorworks via the dimension property box on the right hand side. Can this sort of thing be performed in AutoCAD?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Architecture 2012. When I go to draw a line or an object like a wall or door I can select the colour from properties before I draw the object. The object will then come out that colour.
However if I need to change that colour at a later point, but how to do this?
I have a problem with Dimension association to any existing object in my drawings. If i draw anything new in the same drawing this problem does not occur. The leaders are also associating themselevs to these objects.
When i select a line, no grips appear even though if i draw a new line they do.
-I have tried to use DIMDISASSOCIATE the dimensions from the objsect to no avail.
-I have tried changing the DIMASSOC variable but this didnt work.
-I have tried exporting the objects to new files but still the same problem, only with the objects from this drawing.
It seems to have made every object associative. The only thing i can think that caused this was i pasted in a drawing from a pre 2002 Autocad version.
I've wrriten a script that will create custom annotative scales and a new text style. (It works fine up to that point) The next steps I'm trying to add to the script is to select a text object, set it to the new style, make it annotative and add all of the annotative scales to that text object. CHPROP allows me to make the text object annotaive but I haven't found a command that will let me change the style or add annotative scales to the text object. Any commands I can use in a script to do this ? (or know if this is even possible)? I have 2000+ drawings I need to run this one, I hope I can find the commands to script this with.

I just imported 278 photos and they are all correctly renamed within Lightroom however the source files retained the original Canon generated names. I want to rename them for backup/in case I ever decide to stop using Lightroom/etc.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.
It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

Some background: We have a composite surface of existing surveyed contours as a TIN pasted into existing aerial contours that we received from a client. We used polylines to generate our proposed contours, and then generated a proposed surface from that. We've made a blank surface, pasted in the existing surface, and are trying to paste in our proposed surface... only the existing contours outside of the proposed suface no longer line up correctly once we do.
We've tried applying the method laid out here: [URL] ........ (and the link referenced in the bottom) but are still having trouble getting the surface to work. We've tried offsetting as little as 0.25' and as much as 5' with the feature line draped over the existing surface, but it seemed that the greater the offset, the greater the discrepancy.
Just to make sure we even tried that correctly - should the breaklines that we add be standard or non-destructive? (I've tried it both ways with little success either way, so I don't know if it matters much in this instance, but perhaps for future reference it would work.)
I've attached a screen shot of our surfaces. The pink and green lines are the proposed contours, the white dashed are the existing. The outer red line is offset 0.25'. As I've mentioned, we've tried offsetting various amounts with decreasing success.
I have an image which is simply a one color gradient, with transparency from nothing to something. I would like to be able to access the existing gradient on the image and change only the color. I have hunted high and low and cannot see how to do this.
(I am familiar with how to make a new gradient and how to change the colors in a saved gradient via the gradient dialogue. But for the life of me, I can't see how to access an existing gradient on an image and change only this one parameter.
So all of a sudden, out of the blue I have a problem creating layers.Whenever I create a new layer in the layer properties manager i give it a name (as you would) I then select make make current in the layer propertis manager so I progress to work in this new layer and..... The name changes back to the default Layer1 in the Layer Properties Manager but in the Layer dropdown the name of the layer is as i renamed it.this is happening on two non networked computers and on old drawings and new files alike.
