Oct 3, 2013I need to find the center point of a viewport in modelspace. I am looking for a vb.Net example but I can't seem to locate one.

Mar 1, 2011For some reason, I have 1 drawing that will let me select and modify some dimensions in a Paperspace viewport, but others are nonselectable. I can go to the Model Tab and select any dimensions I want.
If I select the dimension in Model Tab, I can go back to Paperspace Viewport and select that dimension, but now dimensions that were selectable before are nonselectable. unsure:
I am thinking it may be graphics card issue or some sort of limit.
AutoCad :: Visible In Viewport Not In Modelspace?
Jul 18, 2011I received a drawing this morning, and it's paperspace looks great. However when I tried to view the drawings in modelspace it was empty. All the layers are on, when I click into the viewport (in paperspace) I can draw a line on the same layer as the block and that will show up in modelspace, yet no block.
Is this a feature of CAD, never experienced this before.
P.s. The blocks are available to insert in modelspace , however I'm just curious as to why I can not see the blocks that quite clearly exist in modelspace already.

Jul 26, 2012Is there a way to see and move paperspace viewport boundaries in model space?
Explaining: You have created layout which includes multiple viewports with different scale and size (view, section). Now you copy the layout to create a new layout with with same viewports. Now you have to change the view in all viewports. I have used technique where you double-click in viewport and you navigate in modelspace (pan/zoom) until you reach the right position.
The problem is If you have like 100 layouts with 10 viewports each, it takes very long time to pan the views into right position.
I have a some theories:
1. If I could see the viewports in modelspace, I could drag them all into right position without navigating them one-by-on in paperspace.
2. If I could pan the view in viewport by specific amount lets say 10m to the right.
Photoshop :: Center Point Of Circle Different Than Center Point Of Polygon
Apr 5, 2013In Photoshop / Illustrator, when I create a polygon, and rotate it around it's center point it wobbles. When I scribe it inside of a perfect circle, and rotate it around the circle's center point it rotates smoothly. Basically proving that (at least according to these Adobe products) that the center point of a circle is different than the center point of a polygon scribed inside of it.

This is incorrect according to basic math. Is Adobe aware of this bug?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Setting Up Point On Different Layer To Mark Center Point Of Circle?
Nov 15, 2012I need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.

Jan 26, 2012I've been trying to get the center coordinates of a viewport for the last few days with no consistent success. Here's the code I've been using:

The "ViewCenter" property will occasionally return a valid point, but mostly they both return (0,0) or something similar.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Viewport Resetting To Center On 0,0?
Oct 5, 2012I have a drawing with 13 layouts for a set of easement documents. They are in TN state plane and if I close and open the drawing the coordinate system in every single viewport on every single layout resets itself centered about the origin (state plan of this part of TN is around (2210437,238922.) so 0,0 is a long way from there.)
This error can be reproduced simply by saving and opening the drawing again but only in this one single drawing. I have never encountered this before in 12 years. I have done it over and over hoping it would not repeat but it happened again and now I have to redo all of my layouts...again. This is costing me a great deal of time. I am running Civil 3d 2013 and am going to move this drawing back to 2012 in the hopes of stopping this bug.
I have audited repeatedly and I purge all of my drawings often.
I am running 64bit ACAD on a 3.4ghz Xeon with 8gb ram.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2012 Point Labels Are Too Big In Viewport?
May 28, 2013While using AutoCAD 2008 LDD, I was able to set my point label size so that it looked the same in Model Space and Paper Space. I have my Model Space at 1:1, and my Paper Space Viewport set at the Scale Factor as needed, 1" = 50' i.e.. I now am using Civil 3D 2012 and have a decent grasp of Point Label Styles, the problem I am having is that when using the same parameters as mentioned before, my Point Label is at the right size in Model Space, setting the height at a size comparable to the Drawing Scale, such that if the Drawing Scale within the Viewport was 1" = 60', I would set the text size 4.8, but when doing this, it makes my Point Label text size huge.

Dec 25, 2011I made a complex assembly from Solidworks few years ago. I imported it to Inventor 2012. How can I find the coordinate of the center point of the: a) parts/sub-assemblies, b) the complex assembly as a whole? Under Application Options, I have already checked: Sketch->Display->Coordinate system indicator. Under the assembly tree, I can go to the Origin of each sub-assembly/part and make the corresponding Center Point visible. However, I want the x,y,z values.
I copied and pasted a sub-assembly/part to a new assumbly file and then used VRMLout to export. When I imported the .wrl files to another application, the location of the parts/subassembies are not correct. I think they all became (0,0,0).

I want to delete the three coincident constraints. But when I delete the coincident constraints there is no Sketch origin center point (the sketch origin center point is a square-yellow dot at the x-y intersection). How to delete or move the three coincident constraints with out deleting the sketch origin center point?

Jun 21, 2012I used to work with inventor in a class and now lets say i draw a circle of an arbitrary radius/diameter. I mark the center of the circle using the dimcenter command.
I draw a small rectangle around this center mark (this rectangle fits inside of the original circle.)
I want to make each side of the rectangle equally distant from this center point. Since I roughly drew the rectangle around the center point, all sides are not equally distant. How can I do this?
In inventor, I would dimension each side out (dimension from the center point to each side of the rectangle), and double click the dimension and edit the numbers. I would make all the numbers on each side two for example, therefor each side of the rectangle would be two units distance from the center point.

Inventor doesn't seem to recognize type of placement unless it's been selected from the Point drop-down menu, but picking this in the midst of a redefine only creates a new point, it doesn't redefine the original point.
As it is, I've been forced to just delete the original point, create a new one and go from there.

Feb 19, 2013change all circles of a certain diameter in a .dxf file to points. I received the following lisp file. For the last 10-12 years it has worked great. We create many custom sized parts that could be cut on a plasma (utilizing the circles for holes) or punched, assigning a crosshair tool to the point. Now we are switching to a laser, and want to etch a crosshair at this same location. Our solution has been to draw the crosshair and copy to each required location. Sometimes this may be 20 to 30 locations. Now I would like to know if there is a way to replace all of these circles with a crosshair. This could be a similar lisp file, or an easier manual operation. I know that I can select all of the circles using the filter command and specifying the radius.
