AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Old Projection System And Transformation To GGRS87
Sep 16, 2013i am located in Greece and the current progection is GGRS87 .
before the GGRS87 we had a system named HATT with the folowing info:
maps 1/5000 based on the Bessel ellipsoid (1841)
i have many drawings with point coordinates in the old system. is there a way to transform them in the new projection?
what else info is needed for the transformation.

AutoCad :: System Variable Or A Setting Changed?
Aug 16, 2012Every time I open a drawing in AutoCAD 2011 it seems to lock all the xrefs associated with the drawing so when ever some one else tries to open one of the xrefs they can only do so read-only.
Is there a system variable or a setting some where I've accidentally changed?.. I can't seem to find a solution or what the problem even is anywhere.

Aug 20, 2012I am having trouble presenting segmented lines with a dashed line type in AutoCadMap 3D 2011. When the segments are small (as in curves) the dashes float together and the lines appear to be continous. This is not the case in for example TopoCad and ArcGIS.
Is there some kind of system setting in AutoCad where you can chose drawing technique? So that the dashed line segment starts with the blank part instead of the dashed?

Jul 10, 2012I have a small field (5 by 5 meters) to be set out with about 40 points. Currently i use EOV (Hungarian National Coordinate System), thus each point has a lot of digits. I want to make the implemetor's job easier, so i want to move and rotate the CS near to my field.
I tried to use UCS, but the COGO points retained the "World" coordinates.
How to carry out this without moving my whole drawing to the origin?

Default printer set for that layout is "dwg to pdf.pc3" and paper is "ISO A3".
I had to plot this layout [extence] to a plt file for the use of our Production ERP.
We had to print to a specific windows printer with paper size A3.
We use to do it in VBA with the bellow code. How to do it in .Net

AutoCAD LT :: The System Cannot Open Device Or File Specified
Mar 7, 2013I am unable to install AutoCad LT 2013 on my Windows 7 x64 system. Everytime I try to install I get the error message:
"The system cannot open the device or file specified.
C:UsersEricAppDataLocalTemp\_AI194B.tmpx86en-usComponentsadr2013SetupDesignReview2013.msi."
I can go to that folder and that file is there. However, if I try to run that file it then gives me errors about other missing files, that are not in that folder.
I have tried this with Multiple Logins, including the Adminstrator. I have also, completely wiped out the system and reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch.
I have set the UAC to the lowest level.I have also tried another DVD, and tried copying the files to the machine. No matter what I try I get this same message.One other thing, this is the 2013 Upgrade.
AutoCAD 2010 :: File Recovery After System Crash
Mar 7, 2012Had a system crash. I had Norton 360 using a slave HD as my automatic backup source. To reinstall windows, master HD was overwritten. I thenfound out Norton 360 didn't save my autocad files to the slave HD. Their definition of "other files" didn't cover dwg files unless you did an extremely detailed setup process, which, was not in the Norton instructions. Anyways, local computer service was able to recover about 60% of the "lost" autocad files.
Of those recovered files, about 60% will not open up. Only get a message "not a valid file" The file details show its an autocad file, its size, and the last date of revison.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Nearmap Image File And Correct Coordinate System
Sep 17, 2013Nearmap has provided an aerial image georeferenced in the same coord system as Google Earth (epsg:3785). I found a Map 3D coordinate system WGS84.PseudoMercator (epsg:3857) which on web forums is equivalent to epsg:3785. After loading the image into a dwg on the epsg:3857 coord system I then queried the image into a dwg file on an mga55 gda94 coord datum.
It rotated the image correctly but as we had survey located features in the drawing the image needed to be shifted a further 1.75 metres SW than the transformation that Map had performed.
My question is to confirm that the Map epsg:3857 is indeed the same as epsg:3785? Given I had to shift the image I suspect it isn't.
Nearmap have also suggested using an epsg:900913 coord datum but there isn't one in Map 3D.

2 I know how to export drawings to a .shp file but how can I export this drawing to a .shp file and ensure that coordinate system is maintained or otherwise changed for use in Arch GIS?
I have successfully exported the .shp file geometry previously but the cordinates system doesn't seem to match ARCGIS data sets. I am trying to establish is this an Autocad or ArchGis issue I suppose.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Hot Fix - System Completely Shuts Down On Opening File
Jul 16, 2013Five minutes ago I installed the latest hot fix. Now, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 won't work at all. As soon as I open the program and then try to open a file the system completely shuts down. Everything was working fine until two days ago. Then it wouldn't open the files and said to type in the file name on the command line. When I would do this, it always said file could not be located. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, have an nVidea GTX 570 card, and an AMD Phenom II CPU. I'm hoping I don't have to uninstall and reinstall again.

Jan 23, 2013When I send a file to Ps from Lr, edit that file then save it, Lr puts that file at the end of the line instead of next to the file I was working on. When you have 600 photos in a down loud, it is a pain to scroll through the photo's to find your place again.
Is there a setting to force the saved file back in line next to the file that was edited in Ps?

Jul 11, 2013When the attached shape file (change soilmu_a_a.txt to .shp) is imported using MAPIMPORT the data aligns with other imported georeferenced raster imagery (said imagery was imported using the MAPIINSERT command). If the same shape file is imported using the data connect tool it shows up in a much different location (see word document).
The drawing coordinate system code is "UTM83-18F" and the data was downloaded from the Web Soil Survey's data download with the identical coordinate system (see attached readme.txt).
I prefer to use the data connect option when importing this type of shape file because I can label them all using a theme and use stylize the data for visualization/presentation.
As an aside, I have found that data connect does not automatically transform data coordinate systems to match your drawing coordinate system as advertised. I've used the edit coordinate system to no avail; however, again when the file is imported using MAPIMPORT and saved as a drawing (with native data coordinate system) and then that drawing is queried from a drawing in a different coordinate system it seems to transform the coordinate system just fine. Is this a problem with data connect?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Template File Location Setting
Nov 11, 2013The default file location for the template .dwt file in my AutoCAD options keeps resetting to None (see attaached, red arrow). It should be the same location as the line below it (see attached, green arrow). I have reset it a few times now, but it keeps reverting back to None. Do you know why this is happening and/or how I can fix it so the setting will stay?

Every so often, ACAD "seems" to crash however, it is really or appears to be timing out on accessing file information. Of course, this depends on bandwidth usage and is intermittent because of this reason.
How to change the file request/access timeout in ACAD?
I'm assuming it's a registry hack.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Setting New Page Orientation Was Not Saved In Pmp File?
Feb 25, 2013I created a new settings to print some of our drawings, I changed the page orientation from portrait to landscape and saved to a .pmp file (this is the printer settings file), closed the plotter.
I re-opened the plotter, selected the recent .pmp file, went to the orientation part and saw the portrait is in selection instead of landscape selection.
We are using AutoCad 2012 in Win 7 with OS 64-bit.
