Is there a way to edit the an attribute data if it is defined as number to add a value of .3 to the number being displayed in this attribute box. The feature is a point and i'm looing to add the .3 value to elevation attribute value that weren't pulled from a surface or created using object data.

The General Task:I want to convert the object data to attribute data so that I can export it to an Excel file, add another column of data, and then import that new data as attribute data.
The Specific Task:I have thousands of campus water meter locations (a block with a small icon, attribute data, and object data) that belong to two different systems, domestic water and lake water. Each of these blocks has object data item (a barcode tag) that I want to show as a label next to the block.
However, before I do that, I want to export that barcode data to an excel file so I add a column (eventually a new piece of attribute data) that says whether or not that specific water meter is radio read or manually read. I want to then import that radio read/manual read excel file back into autocad and have an X appear on the block icon if it is radio read. I also want the barcode information to show up as a label.
My problem:I can't get the barcode object data to export with the locations in one easy excel sheet that I can simply import after I have made my changes.
Find some person on here who knows how to convert object data to attribute data.
I have a master shape file that contains parcel ID, owner, tax info., etc. I have another file ( access 2003 -open to better file format suggestions-) which contains parcel ID and a "yes" or " no" entry for whether or not the parcel needs a new water meter. All I want to do is add the water meter information into the other shape file. This would create one shape file with one table with all the information that I need.
Ultimately I will use the information to do a map query and find out spatially where i need new water meters.
Right now i have the master shape file connected though the “Connect to Data” feature. I also have the new data added to the drawing though the Data sources------>attach under the “Map Explorer” Task pane. I attached access file (ver. 2003 .mdb) which has two columns “Parcel ID” and “Meter”.
I right click on the shape file under the display manager and select”Create a Join;” however my water meter table is not listed as an option. Will this not work?
Plan B - I tried to Create and connect to the access file as an ODBC connection. Followed this guy’s directions to a T [URL]. But when i populate my table under the fdo connection the column headings exist ( “parcel ID” and “Meter”) but the actual data is missing. Am I missing something important?
Note: I am running c3d 2012 on a Win 7 64 Bit machine. I also removed office 32 bit apps and installed 64 bit apps to see if that would solve the problem. No go.
Is it possible to add data to a feature data table? Example: The shape file data downloaded from NRCS only has the Soil number for the State. As I check out features I would like to add data for the soil name, soil group, etc. as additional columns in the data table and have it available in the future by checking the feature back in to my local information.

I have various blocks with a letter assigned to them as a type. Problem is that some blocks are the same one but have a different letter as an attribute.
Is there a way to extract the number of blocks by a different attribute?
I am creating a series of Blocks representing cable terminations with labels at each end for terminal number, wire number and wire color for each twisted-cable pair, ie six labels for each pair. There will be blocks for cable configurations with different numbers of pairs. Having created the first block for a single pair, it should be easy to develop the multiple pair versions by copying the elements and renaming the labels, but I have to edit each attribute definition individually - is there a way of globally editing the definitions in the same way that you can edit attribute values when the block is used; eg if I have attribute Tags T1, W1, C1 and want to rename them to T2, W2, C2?

I have a simple hexagon block with one attribute, i need to be able to copy it and as i do it increases the number by one.
the Block name is note1-2006 the attribute name is NOTENUM. I have tried using some other Lisps but i cant ge them to work. Sometimes i have to put 40 of these on a sketch i hate copying and changing the attribute by one everytime. so it would be nice to copy and as i pick mutliple spots it increase number. Dont know if there is a way to ask user to keep same number or increase. This would save me so much time.
I have a simple block that consists of a point and an attribute that contains the point number. I want to generate a table with point number from the attribute, and x, y and z of the block's insertion point. I want a routine that sets out the blocks and then create the table. The first part of the routine I have (in LISP), I need it to generate the table. I was intended to use the -DATA EXTRACTION but unfortunately it does not allow me to select objects (blocks). Are there other ways to do this? I'm using AutoCAD 2011.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have a LISP routine that will replace the value of a specific attribute name with sequential numbers in the order that the blocks are selected. Like TCOUNT for attributes - and it only looks for a specific attribute Tag Name called "ID".
However, what I want it to do now, instead of just putting the number into the attribute value, I want the number to be a suffix to the existing default tag value of the tag named "ID" which is "ADDRESS:" for some blocks and "ELEVATION:" for other blocks but the tag name that the routine always has to filter for is "ID". That way the user can pick anywhere on the block - not being forced to pick the tag we want to add numbers to.
What I need the new LISP to do is append a space and then a number to the existing tag value in the block, so that the result would look like "ADDRESS: 1", "ADDRESS: 2", "ADDRESS 3" or "ELEVATION: 1", ELEVATION: 2", etc. depending on whatever the default value for the tag "ID" is.
there are several hundred different block names - but they all have a Tag Name of "ID" - whose default value is sometimes "ADDRESS:" and sometimes "ELEVATION:".
I am basically trying to determine how many lines are in the mutliline attribute. I have abandoned the idea of directly trying to find the the number of lines and have moved on to trying to fine the height of the multiline attribute. I have included the lisp and sample drawing that will draw a box of the boundingbox around the mutiline attribute.
This block as originally a dynamic block that different visual states. I have tried using the bounding box option on the block itself, however, if there are blocks hidden with the visual state, it will draw the bounding box according to the largest element in dynamic block every time. So I need to determine the height of the multiline attributes instead and adjust the dynamic block accordingly.

basically they donot like the advanced attribute menu when you edit a block with attributes in them.
looking at the varriables the end user likes the Attdia set to 1 when you insert a block it then displays nice clean menu which just has the attributes you can edit.
can this be set so when you later edit a block this menu appear rather than the advance attribute editor?
My code add xdata to any object properly except for a dynamic block with attribute. After code excutes it disappears from screen . Even undo make strange thing. I guess I screw the database somehow. But even audit doesn't show any fix applied.

I am adding a center aligned attribute to a drawing that is not open in the autocad editor. the alignment works if i call the function from the main thread like this.

But if the method is executed on another thread (which it is when handling a msmq message) then the attribute is added but the alignment doesn't display even though the property is set (and can be verified in the attribute editor).

I have imported a shp to dwg. it has the object data attributes.
Suppose I have a point for cities shp imported to dwg. The attribute has name of the city. How can I display the name of the city to each point on the layer of dwg file.
I need to create a small table to ID the User, Computer name, Door Key, etc for a floor plan drawing of our office. I'd like to get this done in Excel and link it all so the bldg manager can make changes to the drawing without me. I have created the excel file and created a "name set" in excel for each room. In Autocad 2013 I have inserted a table from a data link and pointed that link to the named range of the room (the named range in excel is an 8 cel block with al the info I need repeated and uniquely named for each room.
This works great...so my next step is to create a block out of the table and make the DATA LINK a variable attribute...that's where I'm stuck. i cannot figure out how to do this. I would love to be able to INSERT BLOCK and have one attribute question...ROOM NUMBER?. That should look to the excel NAMED SET the corresponds and populate the table.
we have a block that we use to identify rooms. that block has 3 attributes: rooms name, rooms number and surface area.
A former colleague once showed me how to do this but I can't reach him... How can I inquire the data from an area and tag-it right to the surface area attribute of my block? I don't mean pick a pline, list and edit the block... it's something like pick the closed pline and the "area" data is displayed in the right tag of my block?

I worked on getting a schedule out and linking to a spreadsheet but even after talking to my reseller support I feel that is too cumbersome. I would like a more streamlined process, you know the one, click here and presto!
Any routine where I could keep picking on my exit arrow blocks (showing how many persons exiting from each space) one-by-one and the program would add up the numbers. For example I pick on blocks with numbers of 2, 4 & 3 and I would get 9.

When using the “title block”, attributes and fields to better control the information that belongs to the drawing, then it worth to have a feature that allows selecting this information from a LIST.
For example, if we need to specify “location” of the project, then it is better to have sort of list from which we can select the location of the project the same we do it in the Excel (as shown in the screenshot below).

All of the block libraries and associated files were initially saved on my local drive. I then moved the files and folders out on the network, repathed all the items on the palette to the new area but for whatever reason when I insert blocks that have attribute data attached It is not recognizing it anymore. I am just trying to get this piece straightened out before I export the palette itself out to the network to share.

1) Problem about viewports :
I am using 2011, I have created 17 viewports in one paper space, there are 2 viewports not showing anything. I deleted 2 viewports with content, then the 2 viewports which were not showing is now showing images.
I started a new drawing, drew something very simple for testing, I could create 63 viewports the 64th is not showing.
I would like to ask what it is to control/affect the number of viewports I can create in one paper space.

Is there any way of "echoing" the data from one attribute to other attributes (or text objects)?
I have attribute data that is entered as a format of 25-6. I need to make these into feet and inches, 25'-6". Is there a way to update these attributes globally or even at least by choosing the block itself? The only thing I can think of is find and replace and I just feel there has to be a better way.
