AutoCAD LT :: Exporting DWG To EPS While Maintaining Proper Scale

Jul 9, 2012

I am using AutCAD LT 2012 and I cannot figure out how to convert my drawings to EPS while maintaining the scale of the dwg. When my artists import them in Adobe, they show up as an 8.5" x 11" sheet. How to change the properties.

I am trying to insert an ordinance survey map into model space of an existing metric drawing.

When the map appears, it is the size of a postage stamp in relation to the existing buildings in the drawing.

Is this because the OS Survey map is drawn in meters when my drawing is in millimeters?

Photoshop :: Exporting Layers To Files (numbering / Maintaining / Transparency And Cropping)

Dec 31, 2012

I'm trying to batch save a series of PNG animation files using the File => Scripts => Export Layers to Files action in Photoshop CS5. Each layer has a transparency and a shadow that have been converted from layer effects and "baked" into the image. I tried the batch save but it turned all of the transparencies solid with white backgrounds. Also the image size was not cropped to the dimensions of the object on each layer.

Lastly, is there a way to edit the numbering for each file? When the images were exported it created a lengthy set of numbers after each file name when all I need is a 00 padding.

What can I do to maintain the drawing to scale with all intact for different sizing of jobs, So I don't have to go in an correct the aspect of the drawing for each and every job.

Also if I export a drawing as a jpg and email it, On the droid phones it does not recognize the jpg file and it won't open.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Exporting Files As High Quality JPG For Large Scale Printing?

Apr 17, 2012

exporting my CorelDrawX6 files as a high quality jpg for large scale printing purposes.  In X4 it was very easy - just export as usual to the highest quality cmyk jpg and open in Photo Paint... now when I export this way it takes forever to bring up the preview page and most of the time it ends up being blank.  Sometimes even crashes.  I have played with all options in the filter dialog menu that I can find but nothing works.  Thought it might be a file size problem but never had that problem in X4 and anything under 200dpi will not be high enough quality.

AutoCad :: Proper Way Of Creating A Block?

May 23, 2011

What is the proper way of creating a block?

I did 19 drawings, created blocks using the CREATE button, at first I could Insert them into any other drawing. But I saw this definition in a book,

Creates a block from separate entities (internal to current drawing), does this mean that a user on another computer cannot use my block unless he has the original drawing?

My boss told me that he uses WBLOCK instead, which writes to an external file.

I'm asking because out of the 19 drawings, 9-10 of them have the error "block referencing itself". I guess this is probably me naming the blocks the same as my file names.

So before I go any further, what is the proper way to create a block that can be used? I also shared my CAD folder on the network.

AutoCad :: Maintaining JPEG Paths Of Drawings

Jun 1, 2012

I prepare drawings for a client which include .jpeg images as part of the final product. The problem is: When I work on these drawings from my home office, I need to re-establish the .jpeg's path in order to work on the drawing. Then when I send these drawing files back to my client, they need to re-establish the .jpeg's path on their end in order to display the drawing properly. My client and I would like very much to be able to avoid this "re-establishing paths" step, where we can each open the drawing file on our computers and immediately see the jpeg image as part of the drawing.

It seems like Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 converts based on the color of my pens.... the lighter color value i.e. yellow, the lighter the grey tone. white is darkest. It ignores my lineweight settings, so I have no control on the quality of the output. Is it possible to get it to use the .ctb files that my plotter uses when creating it's PDF? AutoCAD Inventor :: Maintaining Visibility Of Work Features?

Mar 6, 2013

I went to the trouble of going through my model to turn off visibility for many many planes and axes and points that I did not need to see. I had only a few on that I need. By some flick of the wrist suddenly they are all back on again!! I am now back in a state where I can either see them all, or I hit Ctrl-] and they all go away. I cannot seem to get back to a point where I only have on the ones I want.

So, how do I definitely TURN OFF visibilty for ALL work features so that I can then selectively TURN ON only a few? The Object Visibility tool does not seem to do this. It doesn't seem to do much more than the Ctrl ] or Ctrl / or Ctrl . that I use to momentarily toggle visibility.

Nov 7, 2013

I have 2 .IGS files (which I also have saved as SLDPRT files) that were drawn for me. I can open .IGS files in my copy Free CAD and the SLDPRT files in an eDrawings viewer.

I have sent the .IGS files to a CNC routing company as I want the shapes to be machined / CNC'd out of wood. However the company is saying the curvers are coming out faceted and asking for 2D DXF files.

Is it possible to convert an IGS file to a DXF files so all the dimension information is maintained?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Plotting With Proper Line Weights From DWG To PDF

Feb 23, 2012

I’m a student in a land surveying program using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. When I try to plot my DWG to a PDF my line weights are not plotting accordingly to the layers. For instance, Layer 1 is set at 0.7mm line weight, Layer 2 is set at 0.3mm but when it plots to PDF they all look similar. I have double checked the options on the plotting screen and I can get the line weights to plot correctly on different drawings with similar settings. I’m wondering if the issue has something to do with the fact that the particular lines that are not plotting accordingly are parcel segments.

In the event that objects have been added or changes have been made (that you want to keep) it's obviously a requirement that you commit the transaction. But when simply reading information is it necessary (or even good form) to commit the transaction anyway or abort for some reason?

The Developers Guide says "If Commit is not called before Dispose is called, all changes made within the transaction are rolled back." and does not imply that committing is necessary.

AutoCad :: Getting Proper Text Size In Model Space?

Apr 1, 2013

Getting the proper text size in model space.

If single or multi-line text is set at a particular size, notes or dimension text for one object (like a fabrication detail) could be legible, where as text for a much larger object (like a floor plan) could be hard to read.

Is there a way to compensate for this? Or is it a matter of manually adjusting text size for every drawing component? So far, I have found the easiest way is through the Quick Properties feature.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Maintaining Direction Of A Miter Bisecting Two Lines

May 15, 2012

I am trying to miter the joints in an assembly being used for iCopy. Currently there is a driver sketch which has lines bisecting each corner at 45 degrees. However, what happens is that when the top line of the sketch is dragged across the bottom line of the sketch or the left line is dragged across the right so that the rectangle inverts itself, the line no longer bisects the angle. See the attached pictures for details.

This sketch shown is a master sketch used to drive part length and end details in an assembly. The blue lines are extruded into surfaces which define the parts using a "Between two planes" extrusion.

The sketch is unconstrained in four ways: overall width, overall height, vertical and horizontal movement. This is done to accomodate its use in as a flexible assembly in an iCopy command. What happens is that when the user applies the iCopy points from the wrong side of a sketch plane in the parent assembly, the sketch flips itself and resizes the assembly but the miters are inverted.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Proper Structure For Using Cmdecho And Undo G Together?

I like to suppress command echos in my routines, and I also like to bracket them with (command "undo" "g") at the start and (command "undo" "e") at the end.But if they have this structure:

(defun C:XXX ()
  (command "undo" "g")
  (setvar "cmdecho" 0)
  (setvar "cmdecho" 1)
  (command "undo" "e")

The first command "undo" regurgitates junk on the command line that I don't like to see.On the other hand, if I do this:

(defun C:XXX ()
  (setvar "cmdecho" 0)
  (command "undo" "g")
  (command "undo" "e")
  (setvar "cmdecho" 1)
  (princ))

The command line stays clean, but if I Undo after the command, "cmdecho" stays set at 0.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Proper Way To Add Substitute Items In Parts List On Drawing?

I have some hardware in my parts list drawings that has a substitute for each other.  So you can use one of either item in the list.  Per the ASME guidelines, those two parts share the same item number in the parts list.  So my question is there any way to tell those two parts they are substitute from each other and they come into the parts list sharing that same item number.  Right now i'm manually changing that item number in the parts list. But if you try to re-order those parts it's a nightmare cause it's still treating that other item as a seperate entity.
