When I edit a title block I would like to know which layer a particular line is on. If I right click to activare the "Properties" dialog box. All it tells ne is that the line is "By Layer". How can I tell which layer an entity is on?

The linetype set in the active standard for section line is totally ignored when creating a section view. We have our line type set to 'Long Dash Dot' as per the BS8888 standard but it changes it to a 'Long Dash Short Dash' line. We use the same linetype on the centerline layer with no problem. Why does this not work??

For example, I'm making revisions to a plan and drag a block or xref of the floor plan changes where walls/doors/windows have moved. I want to be able to simply pick the underlying linework as opposed to tracing over each line of said xref/block.

Having issue with isolating a layer (any layer other than one that contains a hidden line type), and then having the hidden layer appear behind it when attempting to initiate a command?
Attached is an example. The first image shows my drawing with object layer isolated. But as soon as I enter some type of editing command (move, rotate, etc), in this case copy, my hidden layer appears (see second image).
In my LAYISO settings, I have it set to lock and fade, but it does not lock unless I manually set my hidden layer to lock in the layer coAttachment 37450Attachment 37451mmand.
I am trying to draw a line. Now all of a sudden, there is a stupid arrow. how to do i turn this annoying freature off?
As well, I want to draw multiple lines on one layer, however everytime I draw a line, i get a new layer!
How do I make the edges of the top layer blend in with the bottom layer so you cannot tell that there is a line??? I want to make it look like a heart but I don't know how to smoothen the edges to make it look like it is part of the bottom layer so when I merge the layers there is no goofy lines looking like someone cropped another fire picture out...

i have line in the drawing that exists on layer A-Wall it has different lineweight 0.05 from true wall. Now usually my routine : i select this line and then select similar to convert it to layer glazing.
i need lisp that by one command convert the objects on layer A-wall with layer 0.05 only to glazing.
I have a problem with a recently downloaded version of Inventor. When I start a new drawing all I get is a blank blue screen instead of one with a grid display. If I start a line I can see the cursor change to draw the line but a line does not appear. I don't know if it something with how I installed the program or just system settings.

At one point I had a layer command that I could select a line, type in the layer I wanted (with no extra prompts required) and it would change. The best part is if the layer didn't exist it would automatically create it (without prompting me Y/N).
Using LAYMCH in the command line is very close. However I have to press N for name, then enter the layer. If it is a new layer, it prompts me Y/N.
Is there a way to create a new layer with a new Line Type that has the word power - in the actually line.. I am using Auto-cad LT 2012 .

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am producing some floor plans which I am having to split into several sheets. I am reusing the overall plan in small scale as a key/location plan (in a seperate viewport).
As the viewport is at small scale I want to make the pens thinner so walls don't come out too thick so I go into the layer manager and change the viewport pen colours and freeze off unwanted layers. Trouble is although I can copy the viewport between sheets and drawings it won't remember the layer settings is there a way that I can either: Set a variable to remember the layer settings within the viewport when copying Write a script to change the layer colours within the viewport and vp freeze the unwanted layers so all the keyplan match between all of my sheets.
The script wouldn't be too much problem for me as I mostly use key commands but when I tried changing the layer colours using -la -> c -> red all the viewports changed not just the current one. Is there a different command to change the viewport colours or is it just not possible from the command line.
When I set a layer as current, every object or line I select in the drawing appear to be on that layer in the toolbar. Although in the properties toolbox, I see that the line I selected is still on the right layer.
I can't work in paperspace either, when I freeze a layer it freezes all objects. It seems like whenever I give a different layer to an object, it attributes to all object that same layer.
When I open the same drawing in acad 2008, everything is ok, the objects have the proper layers.
Is there a command for that or it's an acad 2013 problem?
When I import shape files the polylines will not take the layer style I move them to. They stay a continuous linetype. Linetype and Lineweight is set to ByLayer. Only difference between the new lines and the lines drawing correctly is the lines that stay continuous are 3D polylines and the correct ones are normal polylines. What I need to do to make the imported lines accept my layer linetypes?
View 8 Replies View RelatedShortly around the time I signed in to Autodesk 360 I began to have problems with how I interface with the program. I have AutoCAD LT 2013 and, having used the programs for 20 years, I use the AutoCAD LT Classic format for tools and menus. Also due to how I learned CAD in the early 90s and with many abbreviated commands, I use the keyboard extensively.
1. Certain actions using my mouse have stopped working (i.e. Right-click to edit hatch or blocks). Basically a "recent input" menu comes up each time, showing a short history of my commands.
2. When I click on an object, from the top bar I can no longer edit using the pull downs for Layer, Color, Line Type, etc.
3. I can only edit via the Properties menu or through typing in commands. However when I go to change a setting in the Property menu, the boxes with an ellipsis do not respond at all.
I want to change the color, line type, width and layer of all my blocks in my drawing. is there a way to do this with out opening all the blocks for editing? I am using AutoCAD 2009.

(I want to use this macro to change layer's linetype, too, but that's not the point)
The only problem with this macro: layer's name contains a space therefore Autocad tries to recognize Verdeckt as a command (and macro interrupts there) instead of setting Verdeckt (ISO) as the current layer. I've tried using different quote marks, none of them worked (' and " and <>). I hope there's a method for entering a parameter that contains space.

I have a blue line in gimp I've been trying to get rid of. It's not part of any layer so I can't erase it, its thickness scales with zoom; and it also doesn't render in the final product, but it's irritating to look at.

I want them next to each other so that one layer's right edge is the same as the next layer's left edge. I also want them all on the bottom edge of the image. I have a record plat drawing with multiple parcels and parcel styles. For my lands of the grantors I view port froze the lots and right of way layers from my parcel styles. I don’t want to show them in this viewport. To my surprise the lines show up in the object layer we have set for parcels. This was not the case in 2011. We are in 2014 with the first hotfix update. I understand putting the parcel styles in the object layer, but why another mysterious line under it? I did create parcels from objects, but had them erased when I created them. This did not matter either way. Is there a way to get rid of them? I did put them in a new layer, set it to “No Plot” This kept them from plotting, but I really don’t want to have to take the time to do it.

It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
