We are just in the process of upgrading to Inventor 2013. While migrating our iParts, the origin work planes from the part part suddenly appear in some of the children. In the browser they show up under the iPart parent entry and will have names such as "YZ Plane_1". The visibility of all of the origin work features in the parent are turned off. In the children I can right click on these work planes but there is no option to turn off their visibility. And of course I can't even turn off general categories of object visibility in the children because that function is greyed out.
Is this behavior normal/new in IV 2013? Is there anyway I can turn off these origin planes in the iPart children?
I have an assembly consisting of 4 sub-assemblies. Item 4 is a mount plate c/w M16 fasteners.I would like the fasteners to display as sub-parts under item 4 (24520020s) as 4.1, 4.2, etc because they are also purchasable separately.
I do not want to display the mount plate (03241389s) because it's not purchasable separately.
When I expand item 4 in the parts list it automatically turns visibility off for item 4 (24520020s), and only shows the children (0231....s).I would like to display item 4 & the fasteners only. Quite simple to turn off visibility of 03241389s, but cannot get the parent and child parts to display at the same time.
My lightroom WAS working perfectly - I have not been able to expand the export menu (to view the other options such as resizing and whatnot) I am completely NEW to lightroom so I am wondering if I did something to screw it up but i did a full reinstall and it still isn't working the arrows show up along the side to expand it - but it will not expand?
Is there a way to expand the constraint window so that I can see my entire parameter formula? In the image below, my equation is cut off in the "offset" window. Or am I supposed to be inputting the parameters in some other manner?
I have a drawing detailing an assembly with a 3 sub- assemblies. Each sub-assembly has 4 parts. When I add a parts list only the 3 sub-assemblies are listed. Is there a way to generate a parts list with 12 parts?
I collasped my animation window and I can't resize it to show my animation timeline. I can only resize the window left and right??? I have exited studio environment and re-enter and still can't resize window up and down.

We have the following problem / bug and i was wondering if others can reproduce it.
(IV2013, SP1.1)
When adding a new sub-assembly to an existing ipn, the newly added assembly doesn't have the + sign to expand it. (see image)
Steps:
1. create a part. (anything will do) - Part1 2. make an assembly and add Part1 a few times. - Assembly1 3. make another assembly and add Assembly1 a couple of times. - Assembly2 4. create a presentation file with Assembly2, add a tweak for good measure. - Assembly2.ipn 5. Save the ipn. (and any other unsaved files) 6. now go back to Assembly2 and add another instance of Assembly1. 7. look at the presentation again, if it's the same as our situation there shouldn't be a + next to the newly added instance.
had a photo vending machine/booth where two people took turns having their picture taken and the machine would morph the faces together and show how their child would look. It was pretty cool. Is there a Photoshop filter/plugin that could do this?
I have a children's book, fixed layout created with Illustrator and indesign, that I want to make available for Kindle. The book is built in Indesign CC with full page image on a layer and text boxes on the layer above it. My background is in print design so I don't code..
I am using InDesign CS5 and Photoshop CS5 and have scanned full color illustrations into Photoshop. I am preparing 7x10 saddle stitch and casebound books with the illustrations which need at a 1/8" bleed area. My problem is the illustrations have key elements right up to the edge of them. I need to add complementary colors to fill in the bleed area around them so I don't lose any of the originals. What is the best way to do this? Also, I need to copy colors from the illustrations and make separate pages of the colors to import into InDesign. What is the best method to do this? The colored pages will be the background with story text on them and reside opposite to the illustrations.
How can I expand a border by the same amount in all directions? I have this: drawing and I want to expand the green border by 275 microns. Scaling from a base point doesn't work for what I want because then the new border is not the same distance from the old one all the way around.
I'm writing code that able user to show my custom palette.
Everything is working fine, but ... I want to make some of my groupbox to be expandable/collapsible, like here (3D visualization):
[URL]
I think that using groupbox control is bad idea, so how can I make some container with my controls (label and textbox) and make this container expandable/collapsible?
whenever I am moving an inverter or module shape around, I always have to either shift those wires or extend them to some extent.
I was wondering, like Google SketchUp, can AutoCAD have a follow extension mechanism for a fix point with an fix object?
I would love so that only one wires extends. So I am just looking at a linear expansion for now. I am not looking for complex 3D expansion... I just want 90° lines to extend:
I have a problem with autocad 12 when i write command DC "design center" it don't work correct it show me the box but don't expand any drive to select !
I have a tag block that calls out details. The attributes are the detail number and the page the detail is located. I was wondering if there was a way that the bounding box around it could grow or shrink depending on the width of the text.
way to expand portions of clothes in a picture. For example in this picture, I want to know if it is possible to make the uniform of the girl look like a long sleeve uniform.
I am using Designer Pro 6 and suddenly my flyouts will not work. what might have been pressed . I have re started both the computer and xara to no avail.
For a number of documents I inherited from someone else, I'm having trouble expanding layers. The topmost layers appear, show proper thumbnails, and are named appropriately. However, there is no little "disclosure triangle" or whatever that thing is called that allows you to expand the layer and see sublayers and items. I've tried duplicating this behavior with other documents and with a new document, but the problem only occurs with these certain files.
The files were created in v13 of AI, and I'm using v17 (CC) to open them.
If this is some sort of bug? I tried using "Locate Object" to force the layer expansion, to no avail. I also tried "Release to Layers" commands, also to no avail.
I'm creating a sign. I started from a font, then converted the text to a shape to provide the sign maker with vector art.
Some of the lettering is metal-like mounted on a dark acrylic backing that 's supposed to create a 3D stroke-like effect. In the original design I actually had a stroke on the lettering to mock up the effect. But now, in order to seperately cut the letters and the backing, the sign maker needs vector art for both the metal-like lettering AND the backing pieces, which extend another 1/8" beyond the metal-like in every direction.
I duplicated that shape to create the background. The background needs to be 1/8" bigger in EVERY direction, so that when the metal-like letter is mounted on top of it, the brown background will create a stroke effect:
I need to grow every border of this brown B by the same amount--the exterior as well as the 2 interior edges--so that when the yellow B (above) is placed on top of it, the brown shows a 1/8 "stroke" around the yellow B. I tried doing a straight transform, but that doesn't achieve the desired result. Another poster in the forum (answering a similar question) suggested using Modify > Expand, but I can't get that to work (the command is greyed out for some reason).
I have several *.jpg product drawings to which I want to add text (e.g., product name). I open the image and the image drawing fills the space (canvas?). I want to 'pull down' the bottom border to allow inclusion of text.
for some reason i am unable to contract/expand my selection area when i highlight the entire area. I havent had any problem with this before. Does anybody have any idea what may fix this? perhaps i hit a wrong button or something.
