Is it possible to enable all Items to start at 101 as opposed to 1??
We can change this by simply renumbering each time but can we get Inventor to always start from 101?
For example take this tutorial and look at step 2:

I tried view snap to grid, but this only affects the end selection of blend tool and not the start.
For some reason, I am unable to use the iMate feature of Autodesk Inventor. I am unable to select iMates on existing parts to assemble them with other parts. I have followed all the instructions for using iMate features, but I always run into trouble because, even though I did indeed enable iMate glyph visibility, and I did do all the other stuff they said, when I click on the iMate glyph, nothing happens. It is as if they weren't even there at all. Selecting the iMates from the project browser on the left doesn't work either; while I am able to select the features, I am unable to move the parts or select any other iMates, except as a group selection, which doesn't let me do anything, either.

How would one go about writing a rule that, in essense, would say:

I've been reading that LOD's and suppression aren't the best course of action for assemblies especially when you're dealing with 20-40 parts as I am. I've got an assembly and parts controlled by a spreadsheet and when things are clicked off in the spreadsheet they need to be off in the model/drawings/bills etc. I have it working (to an extent) with suppression of parts in the assembly, but that casues LOD errors in the drawings. Research says parts are best disabled which is what i'm trying to do.
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
We have recently found the feature of copying the model iProperties to the drawing would be beneficial to searching for files in our ERP database. I am looking for a way to turn on the ability to copy model iProperties and select which properties to copy with a macro. There are several articles showing how to enable the feature and several ways to macro the same process. I have not been able to find a way to turn it on with a macro.
We plan to adjust our templates to enable the feature on all new drawings and add additional custom iProperties to the models that were previously only used in the drawings. I have wrote a macro to add iProperties to existing models that didn't have them when they were created. Now I am looking for a way to enable everything in the drawing. I see a great benefit to clicking a single button to enable the copy model iProperties feature and select several iProperties that will be copied without having to do it manually for every old drawing.
Is there a way to access the check box to enable this and to select properties within the API? If not, would creating a macro to do the copy from the model to the drawing be the best way to create that functionality in an older drawing or not? We have a little program that will give programmatic control over the mouse but creating code to access the feature that way would be more hassle than teaching our users to manually check the boxes.
I tried to open / import a STEP .stp file into Inventor 2012. I selected all of the options to Autostitch and Promote. But I noticed that I could not select Enable Advance Healing.
1) Is there a reason I can't?
2) is there a better way opening / importing .stp files?

I have been asked to make a postcard, but the problem is I have only ever used Photoshop for web images, ie at 72 dpi.
I was wondering, what resolution do I have to use for print materials? 300 dpi?
Also, if I have an image taken from a website can I just put it in photoshop and change the resolution to 300 dpi, then use it in a print project? Is such a thing workable?
Or, do I have to use images with a starting resolution of 300 dpi?
Is there a quick and dirty way of rounding specific corners verses all 4. I want to round the top of a photo and leave the bottom square. I suppose I could round all 4 and then lay the bottom half the picture back over top,
View 6 Replies View RelatedI made a revision of a parent Assembly I was working with because some parts were modificed. All the parts I changed are showing up in the BOM fine but all the old parts, roughly 400, are showing up all grouped together in the BOM and I can't split them apart. This is affecting my Parts List when I try and generate the drawing of the Assembly. It shows all the parts under the file name of the assembly and the symbol in the BOM says "Promoted()" when you hover over it.
Is there a way to split these items back up??

I have what turns out to be the first parts list in three years where I need to sum the lengths of a couple items together to get a total length for that material in feet.
What do I need to do to get the two lines in the attached screenshot to sum their lengths together? I would be happy to add another column to the list for this, perhaps the "Unit Quantity" column where most everything is set to "Each" but the two lines shown are summed into a length in feet (or anything like that). How can I accomplish this?
I am wondering if there is a way of showing same identical items separately on the BOM. for example, I have 2 nozzles on the ASME Vessel and want to give it two different call-out like 5A and 5B to match with the as me calculation requirement.

All the key combos I've tried just delete the line section and vertices, when I really just want to remove the vertices.

1. reinstall all redist(x64 & x86).
2. reinstall .Net 4.0
3. Use CCleaner for Registry error.
4. chckdsk for error and fix.still error so I've gone through this.
5. I uninstall Autocad 2014 completely, uninstall it manually one by one,deleted left over folder of autodesk or similar software to it, deleted its registry keys.just like the instruction on how to remove autocad completely in autodesk, I just followed it all. [after Reboot]

How can I look at a plane in custom view like I used to be able to do? I need to rotate a part to its "straight on" view.

I am trying to move a component within a part drawing, not an assembly. When I do "move bodies" it wants to move every extrusion within my drawing. If I click move face, then I have to click every face that I want to move (which is time consuming) and then it often times doesn't work? Sometime it works other times it just moves the origin indicator and doesn't move the faces I have selected.

I want to use iLogic to:
1.Sort an assembly BOM by Part Number.
2. Renumber Items in the BOM as sorted.
3. Sort a drawing Parts list by item number.
The background to my problem is that i have an assembly which is working beautifully turning components on and off (suppressing/activating in LOD reps) as defined by iLogic rules (iLogic is awesome). The problem is whenever a part is turned on/activated again, it shows up at the bottom of the BOM and Parts list out of order (would be nice if parts went back in the list where they came from).
