View 1 RepliesIs there a way to make the Relationship folder in the browser stop expanding. I am constatnly having to clcik to collapse it when I lock/unlock a view rep or change VR.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Inventor 2008. When deleting a part from the project, even if that part is not in the assembly, I still cannot open the assembly because it is pointing a link is missing. I cannot detect what is the relationship between the part and the assembly. In design assistant, the part is referenced by another part but I cannot see what is the relationship in order to remove it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNow Inventor allows users to create relationships with Joint or Constrain/Assemble commands. Both of these methods let the creation of Positional Representation, but when animating them in Inventor Studio, only animations created with Pos Reps from constraints work. Animated Pos Reps created with joints don't work at all.
Is this a bug? Will this problem be fixed soon (with SP, Updates or any Hotfix), or would it be fixed in the next release?
I'm looking for some direction to follow to modify an existing design. I am trying to thicken left and right walls in order to make the inner section narrower. However, none of my attempts have been successful. I am not looking for learning materials for CAD, but rather a solution to this specific problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to make a worm gear with a expanding distance every round.
So I drew it in paint (see the atachments). A picture says more than a thousand words right?
The function of this is to give more space between the bottles that come off a assambly line.
I tried to slice a solid after a quite complex surface and received this error.
"The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.Modeling Operation Error: Inconsistent face-body relationships.SLICE failed for selected solid."
What I have tried:I up-scaled the surface-solid ensemble by 10x but it didn't work(same error)
I extruded that complex,multi-plane surface and then sliced it with a horizontal plane and got the desired solid BUT:I would like to know what the cause of that problem was and how it can be solved so that I can slice that solid following that surface.
I am trying to copy big assembly with its folders from one folder to another.I cant use Copy Design because I get too long path error.
Alternative way of copying files and keeping its relationships?
I create an I part and I noticed it creates a folder within my main folder. This introduces a bit of chaos into my folder structure, is there any way around it?

View 0 Replies View RelatedUse merge for standard things like labels.Have a large ongoing project which requires
Lots of Excel data - eg: 6685.excel example.tifcolumns x AZrows x 300 upwards
All rows required to create a book of running information.
If I use a label type approach some rows have less data making the layout uneven (unsuitable for the project)
Is there a way to merge with a fluid result ?
Ie row one takes up 2 lines Row 2 takes up 5 lines Row 3 takes up 1 line etc

How do I make a layout expand with the more content that is added?

Is there anyway to do this kind of wavy undulating, expanding and imploding sort of writing in Corel? I would imagine that there must be two strategies to get it. The first would be to find a font that worked like this, but the second method would be more pertinent to CorelDraw. The second method is I'd imagine that there must be a way of writing normal text and then expanding it in certain ways, and something like Coreldraw must surely be able to do this, no?
But the problem is when writing a text box in Corel you don't get to write it as a box with edges that can be expanded at will, so I don't know how it could be done.
The problem I'm having is when I use either the square selection tool or when I Control+Click on a layer and expand the selection (square or rectangle) the corners get cut at a 45 degree. I'm using PS7 and it is also doing it on CS2 also. A Graphic Artist friend of mine tried it on his computer (CS2) and it does the same thing. I thought for sure I've done this before without the cut corners.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI made a circle. Moved it up about 300px then used the rotation tool to > move the center point to intersect with the art board's center point > alt clicked and set a 45* rotation. Then duplicated around.
I moved to AE and created a simple rotation animation. However, I need to exspand the the radius of those objects or create more space between them.
Is this possible without rebuilding it from scratch in Ai CS5? Is there a way of exspanding the radius in Ai?
Doesn't seem to be possible. "Expand..." does absolutely nothing, and "Expand Appearance" is disabled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wonder of there is a way to expand objects with a filling, without creating the outside lines of the swatches you made to create an filling.
I add a printscreen... The first F is the filling, the second is an outline view of the expanded filling and the last one i wanna create. The way i create is, deleting the squares and use pathfinder but it take a lot time to do.
I am using LR 3.5 on the MAX OSX Lion. This problem has been going on for some time, so I am pretty sure it predates 3.5 and lion. If I minimize LR to the dock to do something else, then go back to the dock to expand, sometimes it doesnt expand... The only way to get it back is to click on the icon so that menu bar at the top of the screen is Lightroom's, then quit Lightroom from the menu and relaunch...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the free Vault that doesn't have a batch print option so I've been writing some code that does the trick.
The code lists open drawings, assemblies and parts, and depending onwhich is selected, displays a list of all the drawings associated with the file and it's sub-components.
Everything is good except that when the list of drawings is populated I am only able to search through the working folder for drawings. This means that if the drawing has been modified by another, or the drawing has not been opened on the local computer, it will not print (or print the old version).
Is there a way to pull the latest files from vault into the working folder automatically? Currently the only way this is possible is by selecting "Get/Checkout" in vault and downloading the files.
To be able to folderize component patterns seems to have been surpassed once again in release 2012. However, I am wondering if this is a setting issue yet I cannot find settings for what can and cannot be placed in folders, if they exist. And I wonder if it is a setting issue because during a training class I visibly watched the trainer place component patterns into a folder and once I still cannot do so.

I'm a single user at a small company tooling company. I've created a handful of useful iFeatures that I've saved just in the default path: C:UsersPublicDocumentsAutodeskInventor 2013Catalog
However, we're in discussions now about hiring another designer, so as I do new projects, I've been trying to do things cleaner and making sure that the method to my madness is obvious. So I'm considering moving the contents of this folder to a network drive, and also one that's independent of Inventor upgrades (version # in the folder path).
My question is this: In the application settings, there are (3) different path settings on the iFeatures tab. How are these different?
When I've developed iFeatures I've usually had them initially in the Workspace directory for the current project. Once completed and tested, I would put them in the default folder. When I go to insert one later, the "Insert iFeature" dialog box doesn't take me to this path and I have to look it up all the time. It just takes me back to wherever I inserted the last one from. So what does this path in the settings box actually do for me?
If there's no "shortcut" to point to the iFeature root folder quickly, why do I care where I put them? Couln't I create a network folder such as "Z:CADifeatures" for these and add it as a Library to my projects and save myself time? I'd also not have to change the settings and/or make copies when we upgrade to IV2014.
Would there be a downside to doing this? It almost seems too easy and like there's room for product improvement here.
I am trying to suppress browser folders per the API with no luck is this even possible. I would also like to control its BOM Structure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get the filenames of some drawings in a folder. I've got the following code, but it's not working. I get a file count from the line "filecount = objFiles.Count", so it's recognizing "objFiles" as the collection of files in the folder, but everything after that simply does nothing. Oddly, I can change the "If" statement from "<>" to "=", and it still reads the "Then" statement in both cases. However, the FileName is blank.
Dim objFile As FileDialogs
Set objFile = New FileDialogs
objFile.Title = strFolderName
objFile.StartInDir = "C:Documents and Settings"
strFolderName = objFile.ShowOpen

We've just made the switch from Acad to IV and I'd like to get some feedback about how to structure my non-vault single user projects.
Presently, our network drive setup is like this:
Working Files & Customer Prints: Z:Customer Prints<Customer Name><Customer Contact><Description or PN>
In some customers' folder, I may also have a folder with a path like this "Z:Customer Prints<Customer Name>General Design" where I would keep things like mating parts, existing fixtures that new parts may need to mate with, etc.
Then I've also got a place for vendor CAD like this: "Z:Vendor DocumentsVendor CAD<Company Name><Part Types>" etc. for commonly used components, like tooling hardware.
In any project, I'd need to be able to access files from these directories. So when I create a new project, I can obviously reference the workspace folder for the new part files and I can add the paths for the other two examples. But if I need to quickly edit a file in one of the paths (like to show a work plane or something), I can't do it because library files are not editable. Plus it seems like it's a bit repetitious to add these paths manually every time I create a project. Is there a better way to do this with my current file structure?
