AutoCAD Inventor :: Multiple Patterns Using The Same Base Component

Feb 29, 2012

Can I create more than one pattern from the same base component?  For example, pattern a bolt in the center of a plate into one quadrant using pattern 1 and then into another quadrant using pattern 2.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Component Patterns In Folder

Jun 28, 2011

To be able to folderize component patterns seems to have been surpassed once again in release 2012. However, I am wondering if this is a setting issue yet I cannot find settings for what can and cannot be placed in folders, if they exist. And I wonder if it is a setting issue because during a training class I visibly watched the trainer place component patterns into a folder and once I still cannot do so.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Component Patterns Into Folders

Jun 18, 2013

I can easily move component patterns into a folder as long as all patterns are sequential in the browser.  However if I create another pattern that belongs to the folder but is created after the original patterns I cannot add it to the folder.  If I delete the folder and select the patterns I get an error message if I try to add them to a new folder (remember the patterns are not sequential).  I cannot move a pattern in the browser once created and if I move the part into the folder and then create the pattern it moves it back to the bottom of browser.  The net result is I end up with a lot of 'orphaned' patterns.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Show Dimension For Component Patterns

Feb 27, 2012

I want to be able to use the same dimension parameter as a previous component pattern to create a new component pattern.  Is there a way to be able to do this?  On features, you can use the Show Dimension and then select the dimension you want.  With rectangular patterns I don't see a way to do this and there is no way to even note which parameter it gave it as it is being created.  I guess I could name the parameter on the fly and then use that same name, but was wondering if there was a different way.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Find Excluded Component Patterns In Assembly

Mar 12, 2013

I have an i assembly with some lengthy and unique ilogic to control what parts are included / excluded based on user inputs in a form.  To begin, the program includes all components, and then excludes the ones that aren't needed.  This is basically, briefly what the first part of that looks like:

For Each oCompOcc In oCompDef.Occurrences
i=i+1
'Include all currently excluded components
If oCompOcc.Excluded=True Then
oAssObj=oCompDef.Occurrences.Item(i)
oDoc.SelectSet.Select(oAssObj)
ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item("ExcludeCtxCmd").Execute()InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()
Else
End If
Next
InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()

So this works just fine, mostly.  I run into an issue with the component occurrences that are within patterns (I have 2 patterns - 1 circular and 1 rectangular).  This code will "Include" all occurrences inside an "Excluded" pattern, but the pattern itself remains "Excluded".  In other words, in the browser, the pattern name appears greyed out and crossed out, but all the elements and the components within them appear "alive", so to speak.  But the BOM indicates a Qty. of ZERO for these components since the pattern that.

I can toggle include / exclude of patterns using the same method:

oDoc.SelectSet.Select(oPattern)
ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item("ExcludeCtxCmd").Execute()

But it seems I can't identify which patterns are excluded to start with, like:

If oPattern.Excluded=True Then...

I get an error when I try this.  Is there a way around it?  How can I find and select excluded component patterns in order to toggle them to "Include"?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Base Component Reference Of Derived Part

The way I use to do it, is to rename the base component. Then open the derived part, and point to the new base component after the "error message".

In the idw environment there is a "Replace Model Reference"" which does it for 2D drawings.

btw. I use Inventor 2013.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Placing Multiple Instances Of Component At Once

Any way to place multiple instances of an assembly at once?

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Replace Component With Multiple Different Components

So I have been going round and round in circles on this one iam trying to use replace component within ilogic which is fine with switching one part for another but I want a drop down of parts so it replaces which ever one is active the problem I am having is establishing which one is active. So below is what I have so far but the problem is you cant seem to reference a part that is not in the assembly so I keep getting the error

The component named "Flange 1" was not found for example. I just need a way of establishing which one is currently in the assembly but with out referencing components that are not there.

If Component.IsActive("Flange 1")=True Then current = 1
If Component.IsActive("Flange 2")=True Then current = 2
If Component.IsActive("Flange 3")=True Then current = 3
If part = 1 And current = 2 Then Component.Replace("flange 2", "Flange 1.ipt", True) End If
If part = 1 And current = 3 Then Component.Replace("flange 3", "Flange 1.ipt", True) End If
If part = 2 And current = 1 Then Component.Replace("flange 1", "Flange 2.ipt", True) End If
If part = 2 And current = 3 Then Component.Replace("flange 3", "Flange 2.ipt", True) End If
If part = 3 And current = 1 Then Component.Replace("flange 1", "Flange 3.ipt", True) End If

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic - Skip Saving A Suppressed Component / Delete Suppressed Component

Aug 30, 2012

I have an assembly which has a few components suppressed.

My end results is another copy of the assembly (with copies of the all the parts) in another directory

Now i am able to create copies of un-suppressed parts using; (this allows me to SaveAs assembly components which are not suppressed)

DocumentsEnumerator = ThisDoc.Document.AllReferencedDocuments

And save a copy of the assembly using

ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs

I also added the fllowing snippet (which I am not sure what is does), but it does not work for me

Component.SkipDocumentSave = true

 When I open the newly created assembly, I still see the suppressed components in the model browser

I want to either;

Skip saving the of the components in the model browser (i.e. the Assembly)

OR

Delete the suppressed parts in the Assembly, so that they do not save altogether

AutoCAD 2010 :: Base View In Multiple 3D Objects

Sep 11, 2013

I have this problem with my drawing. before I decided to post here, I first ask mr. google about the problem but to no avail. anyway, here's my problem:

I have this drawing. 3d object. with multiple items. and would like to create a 2d detailed view of the items.

what i did  was isolate the first item and did the base view command. after the command, I then hid the first item and isolate again the second item. but then I always get this pop-up menu that says "A model has changed" and my item is missing. I ignored the warning and poceeded with my second model and so, on. after the process I unisolated all my items and most of the drawings are there and some are lost. Is there a proper way of doing this base view for multiple objects without disrupting the previous drawing that I objects?

Illustrator :: How To Build Patterns From Multiple Shapes And Colors

Jan 23, 2013

I work in Ai to build patterns from multiple shapes and colors. At some point in the process, I use the clipping mask to crop away the parts of the build-out I don't want to see/use. Then I copy that cell/tile I want to use, and build repeated pattersn. When I bring all of these tiles together - even at 6400% - no matter how close I get the tiles to each other's edges - flush or even slightly overlapping - there is almost always a white line demarking the edges. Sometimes 3 of 4 edges appear in a centered-x/y axis, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it and I can not reverse engineer the cause.

I have hidden my edges. There is no stroke on a box. Even the clipping path has been checked and does not have stroke. What's going on here? This is a huge stumbling block for my business.

So if want to increase the line size and maintain the interval, there's no way to do it. expending then scaling could work, but that's not what I want.

How to change this? Is this even possible? Is it because I have annotated the drawing view that I am unable to change the model path?
