I am working on Inventor 12, previously Inventor 10 and recently (approx 4 months ago while I was still on Inventor 10), all of a sudden, if I tried to open a drawing where components had been deleted for example, it would not try and resolve the links, just straight crash the program.

I don't use content center parts very often but on one particular file I have some screws that are coming up unresolved each time I open the file. How would I resolve this?

I'm getting a Resolve link screen when I open an assembly but the part it needs doesn't even exist in the assembly.
Is there a way to remove this link, so I don't get the screen everytime I open the assembly.

After renaming several derived parts, 1 of the parts won't re-insert/link itself into the .ipt model. I receive the error message as shown. (please note: actual file names and locations aren't shown)
D:ConceptPart5.ipt has a reference to D:HardwareUSB-B.ipt. It has been resolved to D:HardwareUSB-1020.ipt which is not the same file as originally referenced. The resolved document is not usable!
The original file name was titled USB-B.ipt while the renamed file is USB-1020.ipt.
I got a support contact a customer due to delay in opening some certain designs. The client works with a single project file to all your machines projects, being:
- 1 path in WorkSpace
- 1 path in WorkGroup
- 1 path in Content Center
After some testing I noticed that the drawings that had some missing file and fix the broken link needed had the problem of delay in opening. (9min for appears the resolve link screen) (simple drawing with 1view of the model inserted)
So I did a simple test.
Define a new project, the existing Default.ipj. And open the same file. To our surprise, the screen Resolve Link quickly appeared (30sec), quite different from the other project used.
My opinion of this delay, the current project, contains over 1million files easily. And as in the case of an Inventor file lost link searches for the file in the paths defined in the project, eventually causes loss of time behind files.
Before course, I also performed the same test on file with the option "Defer Update" and even then there was a delay(7min) in opening the file.
This visibly clear that, when using a project with a workspace without files, and open a file Inventor does not do research, trying to find substitutes for the file.
My question is:
The Defer Update should not simply ignore the model file and do not make the search, just opening the file? And also
Is there any way to set a file IPJ, with any paths in Work Groups, and Inventor, not to make a search for the file in other locations, just as it existed previously, and display the screen Resolve Link?
I have created parts made up of a smaller parts themselves, them multiple assemblies of different parts that are all used in a final asembly. Now I need to give this whole assembly to someone. I tried sending all the files together with the assembly. However, when the receiver tried to open the assembly, most of the file references could not be resolved and inventor asked for the path of each, which would take too long to do. Is there any way around this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.
is it possible to restore an associative link? I have a model that is being run by ilogic rules and everytime i run the model a invisible part in the assembly is still visible in de drawing. i can manually restore this by RM-->subassembly--> representation--> and then switch it to associative again, but i want it to just do it automatically.
ia also tried to do it with de following code but it doesn't seem to have effect.

it will run okay but the sub-assembly still doesn't switch to associative or it switches back after the update?
there must be a way to just simply put the associative link back on.
ps: in the .idw the associative link is enabled but the subassembly is missing his link to the main assembly.
I have a DWG with some links to images on. I would like to remove these links but am having a bit of a hard time.
See attached screenshot of the missing images.
I have tried to use 2 different macro's to remove these but it appears these are not OLE objects (which the macro's remove).
There is no delete menu item when you right click on the image like either.
I have a link.. How do i mate these links together so as the chain is moveable in all directions..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running Inventor 2008 and have recently created a few models. All of the models I have created have been linked to external spreadsheets at the part and assembly levels. Everything for a complete model is in a single folder, the spreadsheet and all parts, assemblies and drawings. With my previous models I was taking the entire folder and copying it to new locations to make slightly different models. When I would do this all the links of the copied parts were pathing to the copied spreadsheet, not the original, which is what I want. With my most recent model the copied parts are still pathing to the original spreadsheet.
P.S.: I tried to get around this by doing a pack and go and ended up with the same issue.
Using IV2012 SP1, I needed to generate a bracket that had has silkscreen graphics on it. So in the part file I started a sketch/insert image and using the decal command projected it onto the desired face. The image is a BMP file that is 5meg in size. It took me several attempt to get this right and all appears to be good. But upon completing this very simple part I noticed the file was 48meg! I went into “links” and I noticed that the BMP file was shown 7 times. The BMP file is showing “yes” under “resolved” for one instance and “no” for the other 6 instances. I can only “break link” one instance but can do nothing with the other. I’ve deleted the decal and stated over but it still shows up with the 7 instances.

So I made a shop drawing of an assembly, which is very complex and took a great deal of time to complete. It has 3 sheets and a bunch of different views and information already on the drawing.
Now the thing is I took the assembly and made it an iassembly; but I did this in another file so I wouldnt screw up all the work I did before. Now I realize that I dont have the links to the shop drawing that I wish I did.
how to link the shop drawing to the new iassembly model?
Dealing with an old topo. Building a surface from a point group of points in the drawing, and 2D polyline being used as proximity breaklines.

So I went to use the 'Resolve Crossing breaklines' tool, and here's what that looked like:

When I use the 'Zoom to' feature, it takes me to the midpoint of a TIN line on a breakline, with no other objects around. Crossing window selection: only the surface and one polyline. I found one crossing breakline just by accident, not from either of these tools. After I fixed it it didn't change anything. I even deleted all the breaklines from the surface and added them again, closed drawing and reopened, no change.
I'm a little surprised with this....

Running on WinXP SP3 / AutoCAD 2012 LT.
Whenever I use MTEXT or DLI, I can't edit the text box that is created without it crashing AutoCAD. Not sure if this would happen with other commands, but it seems to be linked to editing the text blocks.
This morning I opened AutoCad LT 2005 and was going to print a map with multiple layers. Everytime I tried to open the layers tool AutoCad LT 2005 would lock up. I would go to the task manager and it showed that it was still running but I could not do anything in the program. I closed Autocad LT from the task manager and opened up a blank document and tried to view layers and it locked up once again. I re-installed AutoCad LT 2005 from original disk and still I have the same behavior.

When I attempt to load xref the dialogue for file attachment does not appear. This has only started happening the past day or so. The same applies to image files etc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm cutting a project using multiple codecs in Premiere CC, but I want to grade it in Davinci Resolve- a software that can't handle MXFs and MP4s and H264s in the same sequence. My colorist is asking for a sequence in a single codec- preferably Pro Res.
I'm trying to do the equivalent of "Media Manager" in FCP to simultaneously move and transcode the footage from my finished sequence to a new location, but I'm having trouble finding this.
The "Project Manager" feature in Premiere Pro CC was incredibly buggy. It took 15 minutes to export a test sequence that was 15 seconds long and it didn't even trim my clips- even though I selected that box. This took up a ton of hard drive space. More importantly: It doesn't give me the option to transcode on export.
Does this feature exists? I'm a professional editor and Premiere needs to play nice in finishing if I'm going to continue to use it.
In a future release of Smoke 2013, will it be possible to export an xml to send a sequence to DaVinci Resolve since Autodesk Lustre still does not work on mac?
I understand that Smoke has some great color correction tools, but when it comes to be fast and productive, a dedicated color grading application is what is needed.
I am trying to import my iPhoto library into Elements. It gets part way through the process and then tells me that the import failed and provides the following message:
2090 Media files have been imported. 19 Media files were not imported because the either already present in the catalog or are not supported.
I am going to try a cd layout. When I open the templates in Photoshop 7 do I have to choose 300 dpi (the same dpi required for the images I have saved); make all the same choices as I have to for the images, (ie) CYMK, 5x5 inches, 300 dpi etc.? When I have the template open, what is the best way to bring the image to the template?
Is the template considered a layer? Do you always see the template through the image as you are working with layers? What is the easiest way to start another layer? How do you save each layer? How do I make my jpg become a photoshop file? Some of these Qs might be dumb but if you can answer them I may be able to fly.
