Mar 8, 2012For a highway project rail overpass there are 30' curved retaining walls - the height changes continuously and the footing and wall thickness steps according to the CalTrans Type-1 wall stepping standard. So the subassembly is a custom object. I'd like to query the C3D community knowledge for the QTO accuracy - and find an answer to these two questions.
The retaining wall area QTO by corridor payitem code is 3,000 m2 and by volume report (sample line) is 5,500 m2; why is there a difference?The volume given by volume report (6,300 m3) is 40% more then the volume found by CalTrans and the contractor with a 2D digitizer QTO (4,000 m3) - who is correct C3D or CalTrans?
I am working on the QTO right now and I'd like to move to the schedule this week.

Nov 14, 2012How to compile quantities for cost estimating when the data is scattered across multiple files. Aside from generating quantities for each drawing in seperate .csv files etc., is there some way to pull the data from all the drawings at once into a single summary file?

Jan 19, 2011For some reason my drawing had created several duplicates of my grading critera. For example, my drawing has the following critera:
Cut to Surface
Cut to Surface.1
Cut to Surface.2
Cut to Surface.3
Cut to Surface.4
I did not create all these criteria, they just appeared one day. The problem is that I can't seem to be able to delete the duplicate ones. I get an error saying that the criteria "is currently in use, so it can not be deleted". I have deleted all the grading in my file and I still get this error. I have tried RECOVER and AUDIT several times with no luck.

Feb 7, 2013I made a bunch of cross sections of an EG surface and want to define an elevation label at each significant grade break. I see an option to weed by distance but no option that would allow me to place a label at where the slope changes by more than a certain percent.
I found this old thread from three years ago and the best solution to come out of it was deleting individual labels.

Jul 1, 2013on newer drawings ( amonth or two old) my crosshairs disappear in paper space (model space is fine)....but on older drawings (some are years old) the crosshairs works fine. neither the older or newer drawings were started by me so i can;t be sure of how they were set up, but (i think) it must have something to do with the way these newer dwgs were set up.
i was using C3D 2011 when the issu started and upgraded to C3D 2013 and i still have the issue. I've loaded the latest service pack but no change.

Feb 14, 2011I am having a hard time creating a material takeoff schedule in ACA 2011. I can't seem to get it to give me a square footage of any material. I can get the left and right side gross or net square footage.
I created the walls with components and mapped materials to these but I can't seem to get that info in the schedule.

Feb 4, 2013We did the upgrade last week and I am trying to use the drag and drop to bring styles and description keys across. Done it many times between 10 drawings. I am opening 2 drawings-one from 10 with everything I want and one in 12 to be my template.
Problem is I am only seeing one the current drawing when I click on TOOLSPACE.

Aug 5, 2013As we have a option of creating the profile from file ,by using that option we get PVI point but not the curves so every time want to copy a alignment from one profile to another in order to maintain the same levels in both the profiles using create profile from file options curves will not be copied but its pvi points will be displayed so i need to convert those pvi points to curves .
the other method of copying is by using superimpose profile option by doing so their is one problem arises that is in the copied profile if i want to see the details of the vertical geometry of that copied alignment the details of the curve will not be displayed in that band.

Apr 30, 2012I have a Description Key set of approximately 500 keys. I need to copy a huge range of these existing keys to new keys in the same description key set. Then reneumber them as required to match the field crews numbering system.
All I can see is the single individual copy option. This will take me several days to do, one at a time. Any method or routine to allow me to copy my range in one fell swoop?

Dec 5, 2012I was told that once I set up a description key that I could copy it to save time, especially on DS Keys that have blocks associated with them. Unfortunately this isn't working.
I tried copying the basic DS Key - SWMH* (I right clicked the SWMH* (code) to make a copy of it. I renamed it and, used a different block, changed the layers to zero and saved it as SSMH. I saved it, then it proceeded to change all the characteristics of the SWMH to match the SSMH.
Is there some setting that I'm missing? Is there some parent/child association that I'm missing? I know that I can proceed to create each DS key from scratch but prefer not to.

Jun 19, 2012I've created a copy of my centerline alignment using the "Create Alignment from Existing Alignment" and was going to edit the new alignment to explore different options. But the new alignment can't be editted. It's lost something in the translation. There is no grip edit for the PI, that the original alignment has.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Moving / Copying Cross Section Styles
Feb 28, 2012my issue is I have created a style for cross sections that work well in one drawing, and need to copy them to our template. I have been able to copy the styles for the section view, section plot, and some section labels that I needed. However, I cannot find out how to copy over the style that labels my corridor section in the cross section view. When I go to look at what type of object style it is, all I get is a "Obect Style" dialog box. I have been trying to open every setting to find it and have had no luck. I have attached three screen shots. The first is what I want the cross-section to look like, the second is what it currently looks like in the template, and the third is the dialog box I am getting.

I have building level with a layer which represent all existing cable path. I can use it to install my bus.
I'm setting all sensors (personal block) on a second layer and data concentrator on third layer (personal block)
What i want and it's possible ?
-> I have data concentrator. Each data concentrator can manage 15 sensors.
Can i write a script or tool in autocad to draw automatically lines between sensors and dataconcentrator to have the lowest cable distance taking into account possible way on existing cable path ? I have criteria : All sensors need to be connected, lowest cable distance and 15 sensors needs to be connected to dataconcentrator.
How i can do this ?

May 24, 2012Drawing disappear after using a dynamic block's stretch parameter?
I’ve made fairly simple dynamic blocks with lines or leaders that can be stretched and some attribute text. After moving the stretch grip of the block the block will disappear. If I then do a regen the entire drawing disappears. But it seems to be only a graphical glitch based on the fact that I can then save the disappeared drawing, reopen it and everything is up to date. I can even see my devious little dynamic blocks. But of course if I try to edit them everything will disappear again.

Every part will contain Main Road Alignments and alignments for a respective parts only. Now I want to combine all these into one file. Oct 10, 2012I developed a program in VBA that used a form to allow users to create new dwg files based on selected criteria the vba program would then create and open the new dwg file and in the case of sheet files, it would populate title block attributes as well.
In vba, the forms focus was carried to the new file so the application would fill in the attributes, etc. as described above,
However in vb.net, I have not been able to get the form to recognize the new file. The program creates and opens the file, however the forms focus is still on the initial file so any actions to be applied to the new file are not carried out.
Lightroom :: Searching By Multiple Criteria
Jul 16, 2012It is important that a "catalog" or database is easy to search by complex queries. So, for example, if I want to know what images I entered in the state fair in 2011 and am trying to enter in the state fair again in 2012, I'd like to be able to search on something like:
keyword "state fair" and "2011" and "2012".since I have a "state fair" keyword with "2011" and "2012" as children.
In Bridge this is trivial since you can build criteria. How do I do this in LR? The only way I've been able to do this so far is to add a second keyword column to the library filter bar and fiddle around that way. It's pretty clumsy.
OR, for example, I want to see which 11x14 (or 14x11) images I have, that have NOT been used for a specific club competition..I'd want all the filenames that contain "11" AND "14" AND "x" and do NOT contain a keyword "xyz"
Since this one requires both keywords AND multiple pieces from the filename, I haven't figured out how to put this together in Lightroom.

Lightroom :: How To Specify Time Of Day As Smart Collection Criteria
Jul 23, 2013This seems like an unlikely omission but I cannot find it in the criteria list. "Date" only appears to deal with date, and that is where I would expect to find a capture time criteria. I have a need to separate two events in one day by their time of occurrence (E.g. before/after 2pm).
