I'm using civil 3D 2012 for 2 weeks now. When I create a query to include or exclude points in a specific point group I get an error. It doesn't allow me to build a query with decimal number but only with natural number.
Everything was fine with my old civil 3D 2011.
The problem is with civil 3D 2012? or maybe their is a magic switch somewhere to allow me to use decimal number?

Is there a 'property' to use the Point Group Name. I need it in the Point Table Style: Title text like this:
i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012
how to design a group in a query condition in AutoCAD 2011 MAp 3D I have

I am having a problem getting all the points I want to include in my DTM into a Point Group. The raw description inclusion of most double codes, codes with line designators and codes with size and description modifiers does not bring the points into the point group. (e.g. WL S, CLF E, PIN 18 where the description key set is created to size the pine tree by 18 and create a descriptor that says 18Inch Pine).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of culvert points in my drawing and I would like to include all of the in the same point group. They all have CUL in the raw discription but some are CUL 0.3 INV, CUL 0.4 INV, etc, etc.

How do I set a Default Point Group? When creating points manually, I want them to automatically go into a certain/current point group, but since I don't know the point range prior to creating the points, I am having to continuously update the "include" points catergory. I can set the default/current layer, default point style, etc, can I do the same with point group? I understand about the "all points" group and the description keys that can be utilized in the other individual point groups to group information , but Is there a better way? Under the point creation toolbar, there is a point group template, but when I create a point group thru there, it doesn't do anything but create the point group. None of the newly created points go into that group.... what is the point of that option?

I noticed after creating my first point group that the NO DISPLAY group could not been seen in the Prospector under Point Group. Now in previous editions there has always been a NO Display Group so you can easily view your different groups. Is this something they changed in Civil 3D 2014 or was the installations faulty?

This process works for the survey figures, but not the point groups! In prospector tab go to survey > figures then select CTRL + each figure to project then VIOLA' the whole group of figures are projected.
Is this limited to graphical selections only? If so, is there a workaround to generate a graphical selection set from the point group.
Using C3D 2010 on Win 32bit platform
I am trying to use the Station Offset to Points report from the Reports manager. Currently, as far as I ca see, there is no way to select a group of points to include, either by point group or selection from the drawing. There is only "Select All' or "Deselect All". I want a report that will show the station, offset, raw or full description and elevation of a group of points related to an alignment/street. I don't see that option.

Having the grips light up like that is very useful when viewing a region with many point groups.
How do I toggle this on and off?
Sometimes when i import points Civil 3d creates a Point group in the drawing with the name of the point file, sometime it does not. I prefer when it does create this point group. It always seems to create a Survey Point Group. How do i control wether or not a point group is created in the import?

When I use the AutoCAD List command on a Civil 3d Point, one reported datum is Primary Point Group.
I want to get at that information with vlisp, but when I vlax-dump a point, there is no mention of Primary Point Group. If that's a limitation of using vlisp, let me know, and I won't chase it.
Maybe I have to go in through the point groups collection?

Somewhere along the line, someone in our office made our template import points into separate layers based on the RAW Description. I would like to un-do this. So far, I have deleted every point style & point label style except for 'Basic'. Inside of 'Basic', the layer is 'V-NODE'. However, some of my points are still coming in on layers like: 'V-Site-'(Raw Desc).
I'm about to start from scratch on the template, however, I'd like to avoid that because of the array of styles that are in it.
Is there a way to create a point group of random points within a drawing and adjust the elevations for the points within that group? Some of the points in the group may have been manually created and some may have been imported by way of "Import Events"..
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen you use the Import Survey Data wizard it automatically creates a point group that goes to the top of the list. This used to be created with a standard point style and description, but something has changed and I'm getting a different symbol and label that I definitely don't want as the default. I would think that this would be controled by the CreatePointGroup settings, but that isn't working for me. I can't find any other settings that would override or control this.

While using AutoCAD 2008 LDD, I was able to set my point label size so that it looked the same in Model Space and Paper Space. I have my Model Space at 1:1, and my Paper Space Viewport set at the Scale Factor as needed, 1" = 50' i.e.. I now am using Civil 3D 2012 and have a decent grasp of Point Label Styles, the problem I am having is that when using the same parameters as mentioned before, my Point Label is at the right size in Model Space, setting the height at a size comparable to the Drawing Scale, such that if the Drawing Scale within the Viewport was 1" = 60', I would set the text size 4.8, but when doing this, it makes my Point Label text size huge.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a shape file from URL....that contains all of the streets in a vicinity. All of the linework has object data attached that contains street names. I have hundreds of streets shown, but i only want to show the name of a few of the streets. right now i am coping the name out of the properties and pasting it into a mtext. I know how to query the drawing and attach the name to all of the streets, but it creates way to many to delete.
How i can just pick the streets i would like to label and label just those street?
I'm using the GENIO import tool and have run into a problem - the data is imported but due to the way the data is used in MX there are a multitude of crossing 3D polylines (see screenshot).
The strings are all "L" strings which are typically used in MX to define open areas where spot levels are surveyed (would be points in C3D).
The only way I can see to get around this is to create Civil Points at each vertex and use these in the surface build - any better solution (apart from requesting a triangular DTM of the MX surface)?
Is there any chance do query with excluding some data.
For example, I have 20m contours and I'd like to separate them to major and minor one.
I can extract major but not minor contours because there is no not equal query operator.
Is there any subassembly can get variable slopes depend on depth like in Land desktop as you can see in the attached file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen creating Feature Lines, I wanted them to be e.g. Step Line 1, Step Line 2, Step Line 3 etc so I amended the name template to suit. I created multiple from objects and the naming convention worked. If I did features individually (as I wanted certain ones in certain sites) it worked for the first feature but reverted back to the default Feature line name on subsequent entry to the dialog i.e. it had "forgotten" the template name just set.
Am I missing something to get this to work correctly or is this how it's supposed to work i.e. useless for individual feature line creation?? This also happens for gradings.

I'm trying to use an expression for text height and everytime I enter the name of the expression I get "Invalid Input". Is there a trick to doing this?
I even changed a style that "HAD" allowed me to use an expression, to a number then tried to reenter the same expression name that was there and get "Invalid Input".
