When I look at the LatLong choices while in the "Select Global Coordinate System", I see a longer list than I expected. Which of these choices is most consistent with the Latitude and Longitude system Google Maps uses?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project looking at modifying cycle routes. I just discovered that they've been added to google maps and I was wondering if there's a way to import the cycle routes from an area on google maps into CAD. If not, I can draw them in on the OS but it would be time wasted if there's a way.
I thought maybe on AutoCAD WS on chrome, but it seems limited on the mapping features available.
Is ther a setting I am missing? In GE the ground elevation is reported as 45, but on import (drawing set to state plane) the elevation is 15?

I am trying to import a surface and Image from Google Earth. Basically my steps are as follows:
start GE and C3D find area that I need on GE and zoom in under C3D, insert GE Image and Surface (then it goes straight into select point, and rotation)
Like most discussions i've read.., the import slows down at 49%, and then it chugs for hours if I let it. So i have to cut the cord and re-start both programs.
I saw in a discussion that there are settings that we can change the rows and columns to something like 70x70.
however.... I cannot find where to update this. I typed importgesurface, and clicked on the ribbon as well..., then tried to right click, but it does not take me to the settings. I also figured that I might have to run C3d as admin, but no luck either.
find these settings so I can change them to import a surface and image that is about 15acres?

View 8 Replies View RelatedBefore downloading GIMP I just want to double check that I can import a satellite image, in pdf or jpeg format, as a background which I can draw over with all the available tools.
I also would like to use a grid over the drawing for scale.
I just installed Lightroom 4 and am trying to use the maps feature, but panning and zooming it is so slow that it is nearly unusable. I never had perf problems with LR3, and I've got a decent machine:

Using Google Maps on the web is as snappy as expected. Would installing Google Earth worth?
To import the point along an alignment into Civil 3D, I need to introduce a scale factor. But by adding the Scale Factor column to the points and modify one of the formats in the Civil 3D to accept the scale factor, change was not affected to the initial state (without adding a column to a scale factor). I got the points, regardless of the scale factor and now, I want to add a scaling factor for the points.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to have a block scaled on import baised on the elevation of the point. I already use description key sets to scale blocks in import to parameters added to the code libary, for example; "Pole 0.31" draws a circle with a diameter of .31 meters.
Is there a way where I would be able to scale a block on import based on the elevation of the object? For example, a point's elevation is 1.7m, so on import it would scale a block by 1.7 on the x/y axis. Ideally if I were to modify the datum of the points the blocks would automatically scale, but that is more of a pipe dream.
We import the data from a trimble r8 rover and convert the file to a FBK file before importing the survey data.
Is there a proper way to gray-scale objects in a drawing? What i have done is turned off layers and point groups that I want to remain in color and selected the rest and changed the color in the properties box. Any way to move back and forth from gray to color.
View 1 Replies View Relatedbefore when reset scale it will have 1:1000, 1:2000, something like that.
now when reset it is same as autocad. which is like 1:1 (should be 1000), 1:2 (should be 2000)
what changed? i know it's just the name but this is bad. shoudln't change something like this all the sudden. hopefully is some variable.
working in metric.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my entire department to 2013 from 2008. We can no longer import aerial images from Google Earth, publish KMLs or export generic Microstation design files (we have to choose from V7 & V8.)
I can't beleive this "upgrade" actually downgraded our functionality as a department. We can no longer provide sevices to those requiring these file formats and will be forced to discontinue the use of CAD for many of our projects.
We have a large project that we converted from 2012 to 2013 - it had always been a little buggy in 2012 as it was a piece together from another consultant. Now though, it is extremely slow and there seems to be a 'block reference' around every block in the drawing. You can drag your select window and they all pop up like crazy and slow things down immensely (see screen capture). You can select them individually, they have nodes on all 4 corners and to move them, scales your block up and down. I tried block replace to our blocks which we know are fine and same problem. It also seems to be drawing specific although audit is clean.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.
I am using Autocad LT 2013. I wish to use Autocad to draw subdivision lines and need to overlay satellite imagery (Google Earth or Google Maps) in tandem with Garmin GPS waypoints taken in the field.
In the 'type a command' ribbon, when I type in 'GEOGRAPHICLOCATION' and select 'Import the current location from Google Earth' (opens Google Earth, where you can retrieve a location to import).
Then a window appears which says 'Navigate to the location in Google Earth that you want to import before continuing (for best results, configure the view in Google Earth to look directly over the location that you want to import).
When I select 'continue' the command ribbon asks that I, 'select a point for the location <0, 0, 0>:
I have looked at the co-ordinates on google earth and attempted to enter but it does not feel right. Then says 'specify the north direction or (angle):s, then 'Point or option keyword required'.
Any way to have the ability to draw subdivision lines on satellite imagery. Garmin's Basecamp will allow drawing on top of google earth but I do not want tracks, I will only use the waypoints made by the gps device, but I need to draw measured lines that reflect the co-ordinates of the location.
I am trying to import points from drawing, but I cant select any of the points and i can not find any information out there about how to import them. How to import from a drawing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have PSCS3 Extended and have downloaded and installed the Google 3D Warehouse plugin. I can access the plugin which takes me to the Google 3D website and I can navigate to and download 3D models. However, when the model is actually brought into Photoshop, it looks very strange. The model is only visible in fixed shape area that appears to be the shape of the initial 3d model. But when I rotate and move the model, it simply slides the view of the image inside the fixed shape area. Very strange. I've tried this with about 8 different downloaded KMZ (Google Earth 4) models and they all do this same strange behavior. Additionally, I downloaded Google's free SketchUp program. The models load and appear fine in that program. I've exported from that program, but the files still have the same problem when loaded up into Photoshop.

I'm having problems importing points into Civil 3D 2012.I'm trying to import an ASCII file into the drawing.Files formats are P,N,E,Z,D in ASCII file and the same format is selected when I try importing.
The ASCII file has well over a 1000 points but when I import the points only the first twenty or so points import to the drawing. This seems not to be limited to this drawing.I tried to import points to a different drawing and the same thing happened.
Up to this point I have not had trouble importing points into other various drawings. Is there a button or setting that may have changed that is preventing full importation of the points?
How do I import Description Keys from another drawing. I tried exporting XLM file but I must be missing something. I don't understand what the general menu is. I was able to export but not sure what is next.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a new drawing in my AutoCAD 2013 that I just recently installed last week, I encounter a problem that I am not familiar with from previus versions of AutoCAD I have worked on. First of all, the units default to decimal, and I want them to default to architectural, with feet and inches. I have to type UNITS in the command line every time I open a new drawing in order to adjust this. I have AutoCAD for Architecture 2012 on another computer, and the program automatically defaults to architectural units upon opening up. Just to let you know, the program I am having this difficulty with is part of a package called Autodesk Building Design Suite 2013. I was under the impression that it included AutoCAd for Architecture, but I think it has only standard AutoCAD.
The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion. What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0" line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum. I should be able to see the object in it's entirety. In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12" long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length. I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0", but nothing is working.
