AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Erase Certain Point / Label Styles?
Sep 11, 2013I cannot erase certain point styles/label styles in Civil 3D. Why is this, and is there a way I can?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to set-up point and point label styles to show trees on a survey plan. The point styles is set with a block, and a label is a regular label style that shows a point number and elevation. The problem comes when the label is positioned outside of the block that represents the point. What I need is sort of fixed offset from the center of the point.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get point 1234 to show a label that says Point #1234 and then in a grading plan have that same point show up as a spot elevation. I have tried making two point groups "Point #" and "Spot Grades" which include the same points in them with two different label styles for each group, however the point seems to only want to take one label style at a time.

I am specifically working with the Section Major Offset lable. The City of Dallas wants the lable to call out the Offset distance and direction over the elevation (example "30.0' LT."). Since zero has not offset direction the label reads "0.0' T." at the center point. Is there a way to include an if/then statement in the label style to remove the hard coded text?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been creating copies of various line label styles. In my toolspace where I have them listed and I can view the styles in the tree, some of the new ones I have created are a sub-base below the ones I used to copy them from (there is a plus sign next to them and the new style is below the plus sign), and others that I copied do not have a plus sign next to them. How I even did this, but I would like them all consistent, because these are part of my base template drawings.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a line label style that consists of two blocks (crowsfeet). The blocks are taking on the properties of the current layer when xrefed. I have enclosed a couple of drawings to show this behavior.
Open the "crowsfeet sheet" drawing. You will notice the crowsfeet are green.
Change the current layer and regen. The crowsfeet will change to the color of the current layer.
To take this one step further:
Freeze the current layer in the current viewport. The crowsfeet disappear.
Change the current layer. The crowsfeet reappear with the color of the current layer.
The objects in the blocks are on layer 0 with a color of bylayer. Changing the color to byblock produced the same results.
The only workaround I found was to change the color of the objects in the block to something other than bylayer or byblock.

Let's say you created some Label Styles, and want those Label Styles to be available in another existing drawing.
Do you have to insert the drawing (which has the desired Styles) into the existing dwg? I tried DesignCenter, but it does not seem to have the ability to import Label Styles or Point Label Styles.

Is it possible to create a tool pallete with label styles, like station & offset label styles? I have a million of them - alignment, profile, surface, etc., labels.
I know you can put them in a template. I searched the group but did not see anything.

I wish i could plot label styles (pipe network labels, point labels, etc.) that contain background mask with the line merge setting ON. Mleaders with background mask plot fine with line merge on, but any intelligent object style containing a background mask will not 'mask' when plotting with line merge on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have point label styles (or any other label styles) that only show up or print at specified scales?
If you have several view ports at different scales but showing the same area you may want to show more detail in one than another. Can annotative text be used in this way.
I know this can be controlled by having different label styles assiged to different layers and using layer manager to control what is visable, but I would like a more automatic way of doing it. Or having layers only visible or print at specified scales?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTrying to figure out how to define the folder I want my drawing to search in to find a specific set of point styles we have set-up. As it is set up right now, I am not sure where the program is looking to find the standard set of point styles it is showing, but its just showing basic civil point (ie. CB's, IP's, BM's, etc.). I have tried a few things to make it automatically grab the point styles I have in a set-up folder but is won;t display them.
The reason I need this, is that I want to set it up so that when I import points from my survey file, I want them to automatically insert into my drawing as the correct block (or point style), based on the survey code used.
Is there a way to label the low point of a profile or alignment that doesn't have any vertical curves? We have an existing alignment and profile which is relatively flat, and we'd like to establish and label the low points for drainage improvements.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change all your point styles display mode (flatten to elevation, use point elevation, or exaggerate elevation) at once? I don't mean make a new style and then apply it to all points: I want to systematically change it for all my current point styles.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having layer control issues when dealing with Point Styles. I have a Description Key set up that will put the specified point style on a certain layer. For instance the point style COMH will be placed on the V-UTLY-MH layer upon insertion. The point style that I have created will have the Marker associated to the V-UTLY-MH-SYM layer and the Label associated with the V-UTLY-MH-LABEL layer. I also have the check box at the bottom of the Object Layers Tab in the Drawing Settings Dialog box checked that says "Immediate and independent layer on/off control of display components" checked. With all of this set up, I still cannot independently layer on /off the label of the point style without having to create a Point Group Style and have no label style selected within the Point Group Styles Properties.
While I understand how to do this and can set up multiple Point Group Styles and push them up and down to get the visuals to do what I want, we have to deliver our drawings to clients who are not the most CIVIL 3D savvy of people. Any work around that does not involve duplicating and exploding the cogo points just so that clients can layer on/off or freeze/thaw the point lables in a drawing? I have included an image of the settings with the code used for the COMH point style and description key settings.
i've got a bunch of points that need a coordinate label. my drawing is on a state plane coordinate base but i want the point labels to be on an artificial coordinate base. i basically need to start in the corner of a parking lot at 0,0 and work my way out from there with the coordinates based on that 0,0. Is this a possibility?

I'm using AutotCAD Civil 3D 2012 in the Civil 3D workspace, trying to create a point label style to show what I need it to show. I click on a point and select it's properties. Once on the properties tab I go down to the point label style box and clicked on the down arrow. A list of options then comes up and I selected the create/edit option. A small point label style box then appears and i choose the button directly next to the drop-down list and the label style composer box pops up. In this box I go to the layout tab and then go down to the contents box. I select the browse button next to the contents to select the contents. I select the contents I want but when I apply it every point has those contents and I need just that one point to have those contents.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking that AutoCAD has no such feature, but I'll ask just to make sure.
What I am doing is mapping points which each have a simple point number label. (asbestos load buried in landfill in case you are curious) There are many points which have the same coordinates (up to 20 points sometimes). So, then I have to drag each label individually until all labels are visible. This take a ridiculous amount of time when you are talking about 1000+ points.
Am I correct in assuming that if Surface Labels by One Point is chosen, the slope as shown is the maximum slope of the surface triangle where the point was chosen??

I would like to rotate my Cogo point label so that i will be able to see it from a set view or a different UCS. Example I would like to see the label in the "LEFT" view.
View 1 Replies View RelatedImported points and I have a label style to label tree sizes automatically, but when there are many trees near each other labels start to overlap. So I will typically rotate the label style 180 degree or drag the label, but I am curious if its possible to have label always stay horizontal no matter what my rotation angle is.

i have a building corner point label style that labels the corner of bldgs with the elev on top of an arrow and the full description of a bdlgc on bottom of arrow...rotated at 45 degrees....
i have 3 components...a block of an autocad leader i call an arrow that i just drew from left to rt on layer 0 and named the component arrow...then i have the elevation and the description
problem is that when i rotate label to move it out of way of obstructions it flips the elev on bottom and the desc on top!!
i have tried a number of combinations of anchor pts and changing the "flip anchor pts with text" to true/false under the general tab of the label style composer...
i cant get it!
I have a large number of cogo points that I have set. I would like to move, as a group, the label portion only and leave the coordinate value as is. This would be a time saver as I am seeing that I am going to have to move every point individually. I used to be able to do this in LDD along with changing the rotation. I've tried locking the points and then moving them but the values change. Not too happy with the lack of control with the leader either.
