AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Draped Image Quality

Jul 24, 2013

I have a georeferenced image which I have used to drape over a surface - so far so good

If I change to Realistic View the quality between the original image and the draped image is marked i.e. the draped image is dire and can't be used for a 3D view etc as the quality is so poor.

How can the image quality be retained when draping an image?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Draped Image Doesn't Fit Surface

Dec 18, 2013

I've brought a PNG image into a Civil 3D surface model and attempted to drape it on the surface. The image is scaled to the topography when it's first brought in, but when it's draped on the surface it gets placed very small in the bottom left corner . I've attached the same image to another surface file (without the regrading in this one) and it works fine. why doesn't the image drape over the whole surface?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2010 Won't Render TIN Surface With Draped Image

Jul 20, 2010

I'm running into problems with Civil 3D 2010 trying to render a TIN suface with a draped JPEG.

I've inserted a JPEG aerial photo (supplied by municipal GIS services) and applied it as a drape to the TIN surface terrain model. When I go to the 3D Modeling workspace and try to render the scene, the following error message is displayed:

"This scene cannot be rendered. The scene must contain at least one 3D wireframe or solid model object to render."

The DWG co-ordinate system is UTM83-17. Sometimes these issues can be caused by objects being too far from the origin, and I've tried moving everything to 0,0,0 all to no avail. The surface style confirms triangles as being displayed in Model view, so I really don't know what the problem is here.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Poor Quality Of Raster When Draped Over DEM In 2012

Jan 4, 2013

I have successfully draped an orthophoto over a DEM in Map3D but the resulting quality of the the image is so poor it is unusable.  I have attached a couple screen shots of the 2D and resulting 3D images.  Is the resolution in 3D dependent on the 'resolution' of the DEM?  The orthophoto is 10cm resolution.

I have tried REGEN and to Resample Raster but I haven't had any luck.

GIMP :: How To Maintain High Quality (original Quality) Of Image After Resizing It

Jun 23, 2012

My problem is related with the quality of a image.

My question is how to maintain high quality (original quality) of a image after resizing it?

If i resize it with same ratio like:

2816x2112px to 1600x1200px (4:3)
2816x1584px to 1920x1080px (16:9)

Mainly i use scale image option in Gimp. But now i need to resize many images for my work so i tried David's Batch Processor to resize my images. After using it, i found there is some quality promble with the resized image.

Then i tried, the scale option with, use quality setting from original image and JPEG quality parameter is 95, in gimp but the problem is same. I did it with also with David's batch processor- JPEG quality parameter is 95.

Other thing is that, the original image 2816x2112px (4:3), size- 3.6 MB is displaying in image viewer with 47% and the resized image 1600x1200px (4:3). size- 1.2 MB is displaying in image viewer with 83%, So my questions are: How can i check the quality of a image after resizing it, means the image is exactly same as the original? Or Is David's Batch Processor maintain the original quality of the images after resizing?. I realy need to resize many images for my work.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: DWF Corridor Quality

Dec 29, 2013

I started playing around with 3d dwf's. I'd like to share my corridors in a 3d dwf viewer or something similar but when it opens in design review, everything is skewed/ jagged/garbled. The other problem is that it exports everything (assemblies, alignments, sections  etc.) so it make viewing navigation difficult in the viewer for people that aren't CAD savvy to begin with. It would be ideal if you could select what you want to export similar to exporting a wmf file.

How do others share 3d models with non-cad people?

Photoshop :: Select And Save Parts Of Image With Different Image Quality

May 12, 2009

A while back I took a Photoshop class and remember a lesson on where you could select a region of an image and save it for the web with a high quality and select another region of the same image and save it for the web with a low quality, so that the focal point was saved with a high quality and the background was saved with a low quality. I have no idea where my notes are from this class and can not remember at all how to do this. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial about this?

AutoCad :: Plotting Raster Image Reduces Quality?

Jan 10, 2014

we were working on some planning stuff, altogether more than 100ha in area. in Cad2006, I assembled 6 pieces of colored plans (jpg), each above 10 MB. I did this because scaling and aligning files this size in Photoshop is a real pain and inaccurate.. anyway, when I printed them to pdf (I did select for maximum quality in printing dialog), the lines in the image was a bit fuzzy when viewed for original size. the original ones are sharp as hell on the same scale. and I made sure I DID NOT print larger than the original. luckily the quality loss was not obvious for final use on the A1 poster. still, I wonder if anything can be done to output losslessly.

For some reason, when I view my corridor in Realistic mode in object viewer, all the rendering has changed colours and quality of the textures etc.

It used to display just fine and I am wondering what has caused this? Is it a Driver issue?

I have attached an image of what it looks like now. As you can see the quality is really poor and the colours are wrong.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Poor Quality When Printing Raster Image Connected Through Data Connect

Aug 19, 2011

I am using two different types of raster ECW and MrSid. ECW file resolution goes way down when plotting. They look like blocks. MrSid files look fuzzy but alot better than ECWs. I've tried RASTERTHRESHOLD, and RASTERPERCENT. Both are set to 90. Using HP6100ps.

Images are fine when using Imageinsert.

Is there a setting i'm missing somewhere for them?

Photoshop :: Image Quality

May 27, 2006

I'm using a Coolpix 8800 and I am increasingly disatisfied with the results. Very few of the images that I take with this camera appear to me to be properly in focus. They seem to have a sort of soft focus effect.

This sort of chimes with a review I read recently in a magazine which gave it very poor ratings for the autofocus.

I am also not sure if I am expecting too much from it? Many images seem fine when viewed as fitted to screen or print size (viewing on LCD montior 1280/1024 screen resolution) but it's when viewing actual pixels that what I think is the poor results of autofocus are shown. Is something like screen resolution introducing an effect here that is illusory?

I'm shooting tif files and editing in CS2.

Photoshop :: Bad Image Display Quality In CS5?

Sep 16, 2012

I had CS5 installed over a year ago and running without any display problems until recently. About a week ago I noticed severe banding in the high light areas of my images when I opened them in PS. At first I thought there was something wrong with my camera, or just plain bad images, until I realised that the images display without any banding in Windows Photo Viewer or any other viewer! I'm running Windows XP SP3.

I have not made any hardware, software or other changes recently (except installing a Nik S/W plugin – which I subsequently uninstalled but that did not solve the problem). Also no changes in colour profiles etc. I also updated CS5 to the latest version; disable/enabled Open GL acceleration in the preferences without any effect on the problem.

Photoshop :: Enlarge Image With Same Quality

May 6, 2004

I'm Trying to make a Headshot. Using my (Epson Perfection 1260)Scanner, I scanned a Back and White(4"x6") Sharp Image Photo at (1200 dpi) and enlarged it to(7"x 9").

Using PhotoShop I Sharpend the Image. I printed at (1440 dpi) using Glossy Photo Paper with my "Epson Stylus Photo 750" Printer. The Image has turned out Grainy and not very clear as the original although it did manage to pickup up detail like lint on the photograph LOL.

I tried enlarging the image in PS and increased the amount of Pixels, instead of during the scanning process but that resulted in poorer quality image.

The Photos that remain the same size as the original turn out excellent photo quality images.

How do I enlarge a photo from a smaller image and maintain almost the same quality as the original? It seems I am losing resolution somewhere along the way.

Photoshop :: Not To Sacrifice Image Quality

Dec 3, 2002

I’ve been using PS6 for a while now and I’ve always struggled with trying not to sacrifice image quality with reasonable file sizes.

I normally use a image size default setting of 800x600 with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch for most of my work.

But when saving for the web or using Image Ready to slice up more complex images I always have to bring the quality of the image down to about 25-35 to get some reasonable file sizes.

With this I get a lot of fuzzy images.

My question should I be doing something different from the start regarding my image size and resolution.

Are there any other setting I should consider when optimizing the final image.
