Is there a way to delete multiple VIP's in a profile? By windowing maybe? I have a profile with several hundred VIP's and I need to delete the VIP's between certain chainage but I'm not clear if this is possible. It will take hours to delete them one by one, although as far as I can ascertain this is the only way.
View 6 RepliesI'm new in Civil 3d, just learning by myslef by following tutorials, I've a provlem, after creating existing profile, when I'm going to create design profile I want to draw tangents(VIPs) on my desired chainages and elevation by given command, specify start point and I write 0,376.00 0 means chainage 0+000 and 376.00 is elevation but civil 3d shows a message "point is ouside profile view try again.

Currently, I have to go through the prospector and delete them one at a time. I have an alignment with many profiles (various walls along the length of the road), but have split the drawing up into several files... How can I delete all the profiles at once?
I'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?
I incorporated an architects drawing into mine, and brought in hundreds of linetypes and text styles. Whenever I cut and paste from that drawing, the linetypes come too. If I cut and paste within the drawing, I think the linetypes multiply. It's made the drawings almost unworkable.
I can xref the file into a new drawing, and edit the x ref to make it part of the drawing, which gets rid of the linetypes, but adds a prefix to every layer, block, text style etc.

I just started having an issues with the delete feature. When I click on an object and it highlights it--when i hit the delete button, it doesn't delete the object any more. Also i should be able to click on as many object as i want, now it makes me hold the shift key down. And also when I click on an object then pull the layers tab down to assign it to a diffent layer ---it won't change it now.. what do you think is going on with the software and who might I contact to get this problem corrected.

Example 1: I am creating cross sections for a river dredge showing the pre-dredge bathymetry, design dredge elevation, and post-dredge bathymetry results. I have 100's of alignments that I need to sample 3 surfaces and display in profile view. Due to the clients requirements for display, using the cross section tools don't work for me, so I have resorted to using a seperate alignment for each cross section.
Example 2: Working in a subdivision with many utility alignments it would save quite a bit of time to be able to choose a group of alignments and sample multiple surfaces in just a few clicks.
Am I able to select multiple layers at the same time and delete them at once?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA customer brought me some DWG plans, five files' worth. He wants pricing on cutting it out of wood. The cutting part won't take long, but fixing the file will. I could see that there were multiple lines because some lines were thicker.When I select one of the thicker lines and delete it, it's gone. So I knew there wasn't a second line below it. Then I tried Ctrl-K, to break apart the curve. Wow, some of the lines had 23 copies! So I would hold Ctrl, de-select one of the lines, then hit the Delete key to erase the other 22. This will take a lot of time to clean up like this. Do you know of an easier way to remove these excess curves?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBackground: My job requires that I print vinyl cut letters and shapes. I do this by creating a cut contour path in illustrator with a spot color as a stroke, so that once printed, there will be instructions on the print showing where to cut and the cutter will recognize the marks.
My problem is that, for some reason, the cutter is going back over the cut path a 2nd time, as if there is more than one cut contour path in the file. But looking at the eps file in Illustrator, I don't see any extra overlapping paths with another stroke. It just looks like there is one pink line that there are actually extra cut paths that the cutter is reading that I don't know about. Is there a way for me to either A) find all of the paths and turn off the spot color swatch on all of them and just apply it to the one I need or B) find all paths and delete overlapping ones that I don't need?
getting extra overlapping cut paths in different Layers(?) I'm just really not sure what to do or how to find these and weed them out.
I downloaded a trial version of Elements 12. I used Elements 6 a few years ago on a PC, now I have a MAC and there's a lot of difference between version 6 and 12. I downloaded all of my I-photo files into the Organizer but would like to delete them now that I realize they are all jumbled up and basically useless. There are 5,000 photos & several hundred folders. I can't figure out how to select multiple folders to delete them from the organizer.

On the layout page I have several viewports. 2 of my viewport borders are not visible. I can not pick them, property them, delete them, or manipulate them in any way. When I activate them as "model space" view, I can work in the model space but the border still does not become visible. I only know where the border is by the truncated drawing. Is there any way to correct this problem?
Before I get the usual "turn on your layer" responses: ALL of my layers are thawed, ALL of my layers are on. I am running Civil 3D LDD Companion but have had this "glitch" on previous versions. I seem to remember the only answer is delete layout and start a new layout from scratch. Tell me this is not so!!
I have text in a drawing that wont edit or delete. I have heard there was a text bug and to fix it set DTEXTED to 1. I have done that, closed out and came back in and the text is still there and will not delete or edit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a feature line in my drawing. It is one of over 1000 breaklines in a surface. I want to delete it from the surface but keep it in the drawing. How do I do this?
In 2009 this was easy. I could erase the featue line then use the OOPS command to get it back in the drawing. Unlike the UNDO command, OOPS did not put it back in the surface definition. This was a wonderful feature/bug. In 2012 OOPS behaves the same as UNDO.
I found this post regarding finding a breakline in the surface definition but that is not realistic with 1000 breaklines.
Here are a few options I have tried:
Delete all breaklines from the surface and add the ones I want. (This is my best option so far.)Copy the featureline to the clipboard, erase it, then paste it back in. (Copying feature lines to the clipboard, or wblock, is very slow. The feature line should be moved back to the orignal site.)Explode the feature line into a 3D polyline and then convert back into a feature line. (Good option but does not work well for curves.)

I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010. I am a new user and just going through some tutorials and created a couple of survey databases for practice. The problem I am having is I can't figure out how to delete them. When I exit Civil 3D and restart it, those databases are still there under the survey tab in Toolspace even though I haven't even opened a drawing yet. Also, do I need MS Access installed on my workstation to run any functions within Civil 3D?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI graded a commercial site with mostly feature lines. I added points where I needed them to get everything to work. After modifying my surface, I suddenly have zero elevations randomly throughout my site. They don't make any sense why they appear. Some are just added to my drawing and others are existing points that were changed to zero. I can go to a back up drawing from a few hours ago and redo some grading, but I would like to know if there is a way to just erase zero elevations from the surface. I remember LDD was able to create surfaces ignoring elevations below a set elevation.
