My alignment runs on the road center line and ends at the center of the cal-de-sac bubble. My corridor runs to the middle of the cal-de-sac. I need to shorten the corridor to end where the constant road width ends and the bulb of the cal-de-sac begins. I can shorten the Corridor on the alignment or do I need to create a new alignment to the desired length?
View 5 RepliesWhen creating an alignment from corridor feature (ditch invert level), the created alignment is not following the selected line (see image bellow). The alignment seams to be created from the first point of the feature line to the last point and ignores all the other points. The vertical alignment created at the same time seams to be correct.

every time I changed the main road layout, I have to delete the Edge alignment and make a new one.
I have the centerline of a berm constructed using a 3D polyline. I want to use this centerline as the Alignment that I need from which to create a Corridor. When I try to create an Alignment from objects, I can only use a 2D polyline, not 3D. The berm has a slope to it and I need to have the assembly follow that slope as I create the Corridor. Do I need to create the Alignment in 2D and then edit the points for elevation?

in the alignment object there is no convert station to coordinate only coordinate to station. which is useless in this case.

Because there is a PI in my alignment, the section lines in my corridor are overlapping creating problems with the surface. Is there anything that I can do in this situation?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor an intersection, I am trying to create an alignment and profile from the Lane (edge of traveled way) of my main road for the intersection lanes to tie to. I just did this yesterday on this same corridor without any issue, but today it doesn't create the alignment correctly. It doesn't actually follow the feature line that I select. The alignment is in orange and the green line is the lane line. Notice that the alignment isn't following the lane line.
What would cause this? It worked fine doing the exact same thing yesterday, but today it's not.

Using Civil 3D 2012 SP 1 on Win7 Pro 64-bit.
Is there any reason why a corridor model would not be respecting the manually entered super elevation values in the alignment? I have several stations that should be calculated with even super elevation values, but they aren't. For example, at station 0+080 on my alignment the left crown should be running at -3%, but it is actually being calculated at -2.47%. It isn't just one station; it's most of them. No overridden stations, vertical targets, etc in the corridor. Just a fairly straight-forward align (hor/vert) with super, simple assembly (two lanes, shoulder, daylight), simple corridor.
I have 3 alignments running: EB, WB, and Center alignment. My corridor runs along the EB alignment. Is it possible for me to develop section views for this corridor along the Center alignment?
View 6 Replies View Relatedis it possible to get the alignment name which the corridor surface is built from when the surface is being data referenced. in other word no corridor as the middleman.
the way i see it is when corridor suface is referenced, it becomes a regular surface and loses some properties such as parent alignment.
i am still using COM. maybe .net can do it? either way works.

For some reason I cant seem to target an offset alignment layout profile with my corridor lane assembly. I can target the existing the existing groundprofile with the same offset alignment, but the layout profile when targetted does not change the lane in my cross sections. I can do this with civil 3d 2010, but not 2012. I have tried other lane sub-assemblies and it doesn't make a difference.

The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

i've made a serpantine curve that starts from one line of alignment and end on the other line.
i wanted to know how can c change alignment direction when these two feature line and alignment meet each other in order to change the alignment path?
I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.

Launching alignment grid view/alignment entities,
I’m wondering if there is a way to launch alignment grid view/alignment entities (attached) without the need to first launching “alignment”? This dialogue box is quite essential in editing the values of radius, degree of curvature and deflection angle for the selected curve.
Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
I imported Google earth surface (at eye alt 600m) to civil 3d 2012 and created an alignment of length 181m.
When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.

when I created a Top surface, C3D showed me otherwise. I need a gap at an intersection. In the attached DWG the intersection corridor has been removed from view by isolate.
I used 2 seperate baselines to force the road corridor to have a gap at the intersection.
Looked OK .. except ..later .. when I created a Top surface, only the first baseline is used to create the surface, the second baseline is skipped : (
I obviously did not make a gap correctly. What is the correct way? Or.. is there no way .. must the designer create multiple seperate corridors when the road has gaps?
I have a very basic question about creating corridors. As you can see on the attachment, i created an assembly consisting of ditch and my own polyline subassembly and turned it into a corridor. The ditch part is drawn out correctly, but the other part (supposed to be a gravel road) has only sections in certain points.

I'd like to share my corridors in a 3d dwf viewer or something similar but when it opens in design review, everything is skewed/ jagged/garbled. The other problem is that it exports everything (assemblies, alignments, sections etc.) so it make viewing navigation difficult in the viewer for people that aren't CAD savvy to begin with. It would be ideal if you could select what you want to export similar to exporting a wmf file.
How do others share 3d models with non-cad people?
When i try to create a material list, i don't see my corridor surface - just the EG surface appear in the list.

The add subassembly tool in the Corridor Section editor works, but we get an error because the new sub doesn't have a target surface specified. how to add a target for a sub that is added after the corridor was created?

I am trying desperately to create a corridor in C3D 2013.
I have the requisite Alignment, Profile and Assembly, yet when I create the corridor, either nothing appears, or it creates the corridor at incorrect elevations. I have the proper elevations in my alignment.
I had a grading plan all set, with a corridor involved. Then, I received a new survey that I didn't know was coming. I need to move all of my elements to different coordinates. I can move everything except the corridor.
